Genealogy / If He didn't come to America by way of Ellis Island.....! [25]

Really I didn't realize people immigrated through Philadelphia. All my great grant parents emigrated from Poland to New York then went to Chester which is right near Philadelphia. If you want more info I could provide some links to the Polish club of Philadelphia and the arch diocese of Philadelphia they would probably have the best info.

News / POLAND'S POPULATION IS SHRINKING... [62]

In most countries to encourage population growth incentives are given to couple who make babies pretty much. Does Poland not give out incentives for couple to have children? Poland is a big enough country to support 50 million I don't know if their economy can support it though.

News / FEINSTEIN NEW us AMBASSADOR TO POLAND [47]

Oh gosh is this going to turn into an argument about the missile defense. But yes in order to become an ambassador you have to do something really important for the president. Like give him money its how America works.

News / FEINSTEIN NEW us AMBASSADOR TO POLAND [47]

I know its shame you would expect an American with Polish heritage, considering America has a lot of people of Polish heritage. I would love to eventually become Ambassador to Poland but to become one you need connections. I guess Feinstein has connections.

Study / any tips for Asian exchange student going to Kraków? [3]

Actually UJ should offer Polish courses. I'll be there all year. It seems most Poles now a days embrace multi-culturalism especially the college students. For learning Polish check out this link 101languages.net/links/polish_language_links.html

Clothes well just dress European scarfs, jeans, and shirts. As well as more formal clothing for nicer events.

History / "Our Forgotten Allies" - Polish-American relations. [52]

Bratwurst Boy

I know and thats part of the reason for supporting Israel. However one of the few Americans who feel being neutral would be the best thing, either support Israel and Palestine equally. Or don't support them at all. I agree but what most people also don't know is that Bin Laden offered to protect Saudi Arabia and fight Saddam Hussein once he invaded Kuwait.

History / "Our Forgotten Allies" - Polish-American relations. [52]

Of course the PNAC and Israel were happy they knew Bush would attack Iraq after 9/11, I am just saying Al-Qaeda specifically was mad about US troops in Saudi Arabia. I have yet to see any attacks of Al-Qaeda against Israel. Of course supporting Israel is a cause for terrorism against the west, but its certainly not the number 1 reason. If supporting Israel was the number 1 reason they why haven't there been attacks against Western Nations from 1947-2000? Unless you count the operation Bojinka which I thought was more for revenge of putting US forces in the Middle East?

History / "Our Forgotten Allies" - Polish-American relations. [52]

I should of went into more details I meant once US troops were stationed in Saudi Arabia thats when Bin Laden went on to attack the west, and yes of course the support for Israel fuels terrorism too, but simply say supporting Israel caused 9/11 is an outlandish statement. But enough of that unfortunately the Israel lobby is strong and America does not see Poland as strategic for support.

Um we are out of money to give to Poland lol. But seriously if Poland wants more aid it will come especially if the missile shield is put in Poland. And supporting Israel isn't excatly why arab terrorists hate America it has more to do with American troops being stationed in Saudi Arabia which is very sacred to the muslims.

History / Poland before WWII or Poland now what would you choose? [390]

This is what you've learned about it, it's fine with me as long as you accept the fact that there are other people who have completely different opinion about it.

The problem is Danzig/Gdansk changed hands so many times its hard to say who are the rightful heirs to it. It was originally Polish, then Prussian, then German, and then Polish again. Also before ww2 the German population was about 96% which could have been because the Germans forced the Poles out.

Why is everyone ******** at eachother the modern day borders were drawn up by Stalin not the Polish people. Although I believe Poland always had the right to the Danzig/Gdansk corridor.

History / Poland before WWII or Poland now what would you choose? [390]

Well this is obviously a tough question my ancestors came from areas like Tarnapol which is now in Ukraine. But the new areas gained from the Germans had better infrastructure and more industry. So Poland now is probably the best shape its been in since the Polish-Lithuanian Empire.

News / Nobility / Aristocracy in Poland ? [92]

Not really other than my last name coming up on most websites for Polish nobility. I doubt that the nobility even mattered when my Great-grandfather emigrated to America because back then he was considered Austrian.

News / Opinion: UN Calling - Where is Poland? [5]

Excatly in fact in my model U.N. class last semester I was representing Poland and I made an U.N. resolution condemning the CIA secret prisons. I got a C on the resolution because realistically Poland would never challenge the US on human rights.

News / Nobility / Aristocracy in Poland ? [92]

I am of Polish nobility however most Polish nobles left Poland a long time ago. I still doubt Poland has a confederation of Polish nobility?
