President Obama has nomianted Clinton's foreign-policy adviser Lee Feinstein as the new American ambassador to Poland. The Obama Adminitsration, as some have noted, is largely Jewish dominated. This has also applied to ambassadorial appointments.

I'm sure they aren't better or worse because they're Jewish.
I'm also sure that the president nominates people who have competence for such jobs. If not, we will notice that soon.

I agree, SwedishPole. His being Jewish is merely incidental. Shimon Peres was a Polish Jew, what of it? Does that matter, Pol3?

Does that mean there is not a single Polish American worth nominating to the cabinet? One of Zbigniew BrzeziƄski's sons, for instance?

Or maybe they just chose the best man for the job.

Precisely. Look, if a Polish American had the necessary drive and accompanying skillset, they'd be in the picture too.

Brzezinski worked hard to get himself high up. Pol3, how many Poles are in America?
OP Polonius3 993 | 12,357

Up to 10 million Polish Americans
About six million Jewish Americans.

What does it matter if the ambassador is Polish-American, Jewish-American or an
Eskimo-American? He is still a US ambassador and will act on his government
instructions no matter what his ethnic background is, so what's the difference?

And how many Polish Americans are there legally? ;) ;)

All of them. Polish-American is an American citizen with Polish roots.

There already was a Jew as a US ambassador in Poland and It seemed that he was a really good guy and did a lot to get Poland into NATO.

Indeed, Daniel Fried. Was very pro-Polish. Had the good fotrune to meet him.

We will see whether he will do his job or will try to pretend to be ambassador of Jews as well. He should be aware that there are some people who will pressure him to act in such bad manner. This is up to him to make them disappointed and act like professional diplomat loyal only to his own country. I don't know the guy, so I cannot say. However from my observations the Jews are one of the biggest nationalists/tribalists around, so I cannot exclude such possibility.

In the US such prestigious but quite harmless posts are often given as a reward for support and money during the voting campaign.

If you are lucky then the new ambassador speaks the lingua...most often they don't!

New American ambassador to Poland

Once again Poland gets dumped upon. There will not be a Polish speaking American ambassador to Poland. It will be someone in the American defense department. This is because America doesn't give a damn about Poland, they just want to cause trouble with Russia. Ireland got a Irish American ambassador, why can't Poland get a Polish American ambassador? Couldn't they give it to Brzezinski? Polish Americans should let Obama know they will not be happy about this.

You are very right. We should organize a protest and be serious. Were constantly getting stepped on and continue to be non- interfering church going people. I'm sick of it. Please private message me for organization of this movement.

If you don't have a green card.. I advise yelling from the back of the crowds. I don't know if you have the permission.

Poles need an organization. I'm down to develop one as long as someone starts DONATING!!!

People think that the world revolves around church!!!

Donation to good people is neccessary!!!!

I am outraged!!! Bozena thank you for showing me this.

Pozdrowienia z 11224

I know its shame you would expect an American with Polish heritage, considering America has a lot of people of Polish heritage. I would love to eventually become Ambassador to Poland but to become one you need connections. I guess Feinstein has connections.

yeah up his butt. **** Feinstein the USA pisses on Poles no offense. I've been here for 12 ******* years and still don't have my green card but my dad does.

Some dumb**** gorilla threw my application into the trash and went on to stuff his face with a double quaterpounder nocheese extra pickles please with french fries.

I want to throw a molotov cocktail at someone. I'm pissed.

Yeah, he's a well connected, super educated defense department dude. Judging by this nomination, in the future, it's not going to be easy to get this job unless you have major qualifications. This could be precedence setting.

Nope, sorry to burst your bubble!

But for example as Timken was nominated by the Bushies to become ambassador to Berlin the german TV run a very interesting doku how ambassadors come to be appointed by Washington in the first place...

An interesting picture emerged...the more someone spends money to support the voting campaign of the winner/now US president the more he can now demand back.

These ambassadors have rarely any diplomatic background at all or are studied diplomats, foreign specialists or whatever, rarely speak any lingua beside english, often just very rich entrepreneurs (if you are lucky they bring with them some business contacts and connections) who are bored and want to try something new.

Why not a prestigious but harmless post?

Most US-Ambassadors are of that kind...exceptions confirm the rule!

PS: If a Pole would had spend millions for Obama and now would show interest he would had had a good chance to get the ambassador post in Warsaw.

(Nothing to do with skillset at all...)

I don't think so BB, not in this case, because Feinstein isn't just any nominee. He is far more qualified than some. I don't think he's there just because he bought his way in. Must be some sort of strategic thing in the works.

I would take any one of Brzezinski's family for the job instead of this guy, including Mika. To the American military industrial complex Poland is just a base for American soldiers. That's why this defense guy was picked.

How about Steve Wozniak, Ed Roski, or Martha Stewart, all billionaire, Polish American, business people. The American hispanic community gets a supreme court judge. What does the Polish community get? Nothing.

true

only from Serbians Poles could expect loyalty. Sarmatia is what Poles and Serbs need.

It is something like Great Poland. I would personaly suggest compromise- let it be Sarmatian Poland

In the US such prestigious but quite harmless posts are often given as a reward for support and money during the voting campaign.

During the Campaign Obama criticized Bush for appointing allies and fundraisers as Ambassadors. He promised to end the culture of cronyism and appointing Lobbyists in his administration. But, money makes the world go round.

England: Louis Susman, Jewish billionaire, Primary fundraiser for Obama, former Citibank Executive

Germany: Phil Murphy; former Goldman Sachs investment banker, Obama fundraiser

Ireland: Dan Rooney, football team owner, Obama fundraiser

palestinethinktank.

The people she listens to on the topic include Clinton administration veterans like Richard Holbrooke, Martin Indyk and Lee Feinstein who was her national security coordinator during the presidential campaign. All of them blame the Palestinians for the breakdown of the peace talks and argue that the Palestinians need to provide a stronger interlocutor in order for the peace process to go forward. They view Israel as America's best ally in the region and vigorously defend its right to use force to defend itself.
