Love / From a Turkish Man! What I heard about Polish girls from my friends :) [53]

Turks and Kurds are two different things. Yes, Kurds can be dark being that almost all of them live in the Middle East in areas such as Iran, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, and of course Turkey. But when there are 10 millions to 16 millions Kurds in Turkey and the rest 80 millions are Turks, then Kurds really aren't Turks and nor do they share the same genetic features (as you claim) as the Turks. No offense but your statement forth also misses logic. You claim that the majority of Turks in Europe are Kurds when Kurds aren't Turks. Yes there are Kurds in Europe but are counted differently (by the CIA world factbook and the UN) that Turks in European statistics.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kurdish_people

However, there really aren't many Kurds in Europe like you say. According to the UN World Development Report of 2009 (which was used to give statistics to this wikipedia article). There are around 500,000 in Germany and less that 50,000 in France. Other than that they really aren't "migrated" else where.

Turks on the other hand...en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turkish_people

Again with the same statistics there are over 2 million in Europe (over 90% are immigrants and a good portion are temporary workers.students/visitors). Apparently the vast majority of those are in Germany with few thousands in Belgium, France, Bulgaria, the UK, and Greece.

I have nothing against either, but I simply wanted to point that out for better understanding. Many people seem to confuse either the races or the statistics.

Love / WHAT TRAITS DO POLISH WOMEN LOOK FOR IN A MAN? [48]

I wasn't born in Poland but lived there for a while and I know some girls would put money - size of income- in the number 1 spot because they like to dress up nice, put a lot of make up and they like to show off that they are better off than others.
But then my closests friends were really down to earth and they would say honesty and someone they can trust and love in the first place. I myself would say all that plus - personality

Generalize much? lol What's with all these guys saying money money money? Polish girls are the least materialized girls I have ever met. (maybe that too is generalizing) but I would rather take it from the girls themselves whom have replied to this thread.

USA, Canada / Why Americans of Polish orgin do not exist in the USA politics? [34]

most of jewish politicians in USA come from Poland before and after the war . If you consider "Polish origin " as being catholic and racist than surely there is shortage for quite simple reason

Most Jewish people in Poland were exterminated under Hitler's evil rule.

Life / Damn proud of being (half) Polish [77]

A half Pole can be indeed considered an all out Pole. Do we deny Chopin or Copernicus of being Poles? Or other Poles such as Marie Curie for declaring herself a French and moving to France (not that she denounced her Polish heritage and citizenship).

Life / Latinos/Hispanic people in Warsaw or Krakow [34]

According to the 2009 UN Development report, ethnic groups in Poland as provided by the Polish government out of the 38 million population are:

Polish 97.7%, German 0.4%, Belarusian 0.1%, Ukrainian 0.1%, other 1.7% (mostly Mediterranean, Scandinavian, Western European.)

So overall I would say no, but we are a globalized world and at least a person of every ethnicity exists in every country I would say.

Secondly, I would also like to say that the Catholic thing with Latin's isn't as big as it is with the Poles. Latin's also have other predominant religions, such as Lutheran, Christian (in general), Orthodox, and so forth.

Go figure...

Here, 'Google Books' uploaded the entire thing online for free and the volume your looking for. As for the books themselves, the God's Playground are probably the best books availalbe on Polish history as a whole; I recommend for anyone whom has an interest in the subject or just beginning to buy both of them

Love / In your opinion, are most Polish women 'Easy'? [243]

George8600:
unlike some English girls that find it on their backs on bed or bent over.

I see you live in America, do you know many English girls?

No but I can determine this by the way they act....again I don't mean to generalize. All countries have the rotten and the good, but I have met enough from both sides to make at least a slight leanancy. As a Pole living in Chicago (which has more Poles that Warsaw), I am proud to say that I have met many Polish girls and intend to keep it that way. ^_^

USA, Canada / Why Americans of Polish orgin do not exist in the USA politics? [34]

I have taken government courses in college and there's two alleged reasons. One being that if their immigrants then they can't run for Senate or any other higher position. If they are catholic they cannot run for the executive branch or the judicial branch because they fear that actions made will be based indirectly from the Pope and not individualist. Same goes for any other religion which which has such a system, Including Islam, Muslim, Judaism, etc. Nonetheless, with the fewer than 10 million Polish Americans there are quite a few in the legislative branch being a few in the house of reps, running a governors, mayors, and mostly in state governments. Also, one should consider, that the vast majority of American Politics is run just by those, Americans. 94% of those in American Government claim to be full Americans having had many generations here, regardless of their ethnicity.

USA, Canada / Popular US Newspaper offends Poles. [22]

I read his biography online, apparently he is Ukrainian born of Jewish origins (his father is Ukrainian and mother Polish) , but considers himself a Polish Jew since he has lived there most of his life. Polonius, he isn't an atheist, Judaism highly opposed those who disbelieved in God. A Jew who loses his faith in God is no longer a Jew when he/she becomes and atheist. The Torah itself says this, he claims to be proudly a Jew and practices the religion. Nonetheless, I wouldn't be surprised if he had tons of atheists in his family with the amount of communist involvement they had.

From wikipedia--

Adam Michnik was born to Ozjasz (Uzziah) Szechter, the first secretary of the Communist Party of Western Ukraine and his wife Helena (née Michnik), a children books writer and communist. (Michnik's parents happened to be of Jewish and non-Jewish descent, respectively. Michnik describes himself as a Pole of Jewish origins.[1][2]) His brother, Stefan Michnik, was a stalinist judge in the 1950s, during the period of Stalinism and currently resides in Sweden; he is accused of having sentenced to death alleged spies, such as major Zefiryn Machalla whom was a major of the Polish Army and participant of the Polish September Campaign. In the interbellum period, his talent was highly praised by the Polish Army Headquarters, for his outstanding bravery, Machalla was nominated for the Virtuti Militari cross.

He has also convicted many other Polish nobles. What Polonius said was right and with a further extent.

USA, Canada / Popular US Newspaper offends Poles. [22]

This was the second time I have seen this article posted in the New York Times (which I subscribe to daily). Apparently a holocaust subjecting brought it up again and got it posted. I have looked up many of the facts and they seem flawed (but not all). As a pole, isn't anyone else offended by this? Poland has done so much for the Jewish population since medieval times, and we get this?

Poland was the first country to oppose Hitler's demands and the first to stand against his aggression. Poland never had a Quisling. No Polish regiment fought on behalf of the Third Reich. Betrayed by the Ribbentrop-Molotov pact, Poles fought alongside the anti-Nazi forces from the first day until the last. And inside Poland armed resistance to the German occupation was widespread.

News / POLISH POLICE PRAY FOR ROAD SAFETY.... [23]

dnz: What is it? Skyline impreza or evo?
Shame that theres nowhere in Poland to unleash those 300 horses as the roads are so poor, Where are they saying "I want to thank god for making my team lose the game and hence out of the playoffs with no chance to make some more money" ?

As an agnostic, I really must say these are some of the stupidest reasons I've heard for disbelieving God. To begin, SOME scientific proof suggests there is no God, it hasn't proven it yet. Vast numbers of scientists believe in religion, and in reality not all science deals with whether God exists or not.

Secondly, your parents died in their 70's, what do you expect mortality on life and invincibility? God doesn't give this. Being that the average life span for men in Poland is 68 and for women 70, this is quite good. They were old, what did you expect?

Thirdly, I can tell you that God could care less about any damn sports that are played for fun, and he can ever care less about the idiots who waste their hard-earned money betting on it; that's their problem, not God's. Same goes for idiots driving, God isn't going to take control of your car. God never said, build a ****** road system, with crappy driver education, and a bad policing system; that's a human made error not a God made error.

If these were the reasons your ENTIRE family as you claim because irreligious then it is quite weak minded of them...

History / Famous Polish Russians. [26]

That Sokrates fellow is also part Greek according to some history books I have read. ^_^

Anyway, take Dzerzhinsky off the list, he was a self hating Pole, administered the Katyn Massacre into action and monitored it (being the leader of the NKVD) and purged and killed 20,000-50,000 Poles during the Great Terrors of Stalin (again, being leader of the NKVD and signing forms to purge certain foreign ethnic gorups-one being Poles) until Stalin the Poles deported. He was a criminal in Poland and was put in the Warsaw Political Crimes Prison, until it was bombed by the Russians in 1935 and he escaped. Other thank Poles, being the leader of the NKVD, he monitored the starvation of over 3 millions to 7 million innocent Ukrainians in the Stalinist famines of 1937, requested HIMSELF that the dog tags of many red army soldiers be pulled off to make the unidentifiable to the Germans and so lower casualties could be supported (no country in the history of mankind has treated their war dead like this), likewise he aslo ordered NKVD officers to shoot and kill any Russian soldiers whom were seen retreating or surrendering. I also got his pre-NKVD history off of an encyclopedia here:

Love / Sick of a Certain Polish Lady - my boyfriends friend [34]

Sokrates:
In the other more serious news, you're naive and he's got both the sandwich and the hamburger, whichever you're, you're fastfood.

Have you ever considered writing poems?

Lol!

Anyway, notice how you say "certain" Polish lady and guy. These people seem like fools to me, trash at most. What you have is NOT true love, please there are so many other dedicated and nice Polish men if that's what your looking for. Get out and get out now that you have a chance before you realize that you've wasted too much time being used and mistreated. (Which I hope you have already realized.)

Love / THE TYPICAL POLISH WOMAN? [148]

1. No NOT like all slavic women.
2. Ummmm different much?
3. Not all of them. (But most)
4. Not all of them. (Maybe a good amount)
5. What plans? Regarding the future in a relationship or their lives? Organizing things? Yes, but then again many women all over the world do this...

1. I don't think so, but in truth I would better like it that way. ;-)
2. lol! Maybe not so true, but then again, like the first, I have no problem. ;-)
3. Never knew that, but wow.
4. I don't think so....
5. Huh?
6. I don't think they are that close-minded, but again preferred. lol

Love / Polish girls attitude - what should I know about the behaviour of Polish girls? [30]

I have met wonderful Polish girls here in Poland, but I have also met idiots.

I agree with this, maybe we should first meet the Polish girl before we go about praising her and treating her like a princess. Sure, while they are generally great, there are a few rotten ones in the bottom just like in any place.

Euro chicks or Eastern Euro chicks? they are two different kind of chicks :)

Euro Chicks and Polish chicks? There are two different kinds there. Having met women from Russia, Ukraine, Lithuania, Estonia- I would say they are quite different than Polish women. Put them in their own category.

Love / In love with a Polish girl from my high-school (USA) [19]

I hate how people think Polish girls are closeminded and only go with their own ethnicity. It's simply not true, they are smart and open minded, do what any romantic would do. However, that doesn't mean she wants to forget her culture. ;-)

Let me help you.

Be affectionate, Polsih girls are well brought up and want a truly dedicated lover, they don't want someone looking off beyond her or going to places without her alot. Do as Aristotle once said, "To be true lovers, is to be two bodies with one soul." Hold her hand whenever you can, be sentimental with your words, used cute/romantic/and funny diction with your wording (not to the point where it's weird and you become a different person, however to the extent to which your not some cold blatant speaker/lover). Cuddle, (put your arm around her). Make her 'one', not your own. Never make here feel like a possession, she is your PARTNER, memorize that, never in your relationship shall one be more superior to the other. Respect her being- hold doors for her, pull out a chair, walk her across the street, walk WITH her, never leaving her alone (being front or back). Look into her eyes alot, and DON'T check out other girls, remember she's your one and only true love, it's her in the room, not the others.

Buy her things (mind you Polish girls aren't materialized), so again be affectionate in buying her things, maybe some jewlery on the anniversary of first meeting or her birthday(remember dates!!!)- oh and never forget her names day (in Poland it is sometime sonsidered more important that a birthday), buy her flowers (colors of the Polish flag, half redand half white roses). Being that, it's not the price, but the thought that counts. So be creative with what you give her, write her a poem, a short story (maybe in Polish, or Polish style)-buy some Polish literature as reference; you know what I mean, or make her a card.

Agree with her, but don't be a copy cat. For example, practice her religion maybe, her interests, abilties, copings definitley. Engage in her interest with truth, talk about that book shes reading or that movie she saw last week. Also give her personal space, don't be around her all the time or stalk her (she has friends and family too, and a personal life), again you are not more superior, you are partners. Your trust in eachother is one of the most important if not most important virtues of your relationship. Also don't be all "manly" and a stuck up *******, girls don't like that, try being sensitive and emotional too (but too much of that, or anything for that matter can cause more bad than it does good.)

There's much more I can think of but don't have the time. If you really want to learn polish or the basics buy Rossetta Stone, it's amazing for language teaching and they have it in Polish. It's a software with simply teaches you the basic Polish language (it's rated #1). If not learn little things, like how to say I love you (Kocham Wie) or Good day (Dobry Dzien), or make a Polish nickname for her such as 'little flower', or 'little angel' (but don't over use it, and try to call her the nickname in Polish).

Anyway, this isn't a list of orders, but rather adaptations or recomendations. Don't take them all too serious or senile, but rather consider them. Remember, true love is a powerful force: any philosopher, great thinker, even some scientists throughout our time can tell you this. I hope for you to achieve metaphysicality, aestheics, stoicism, and emotion in your relationship--in other words to achieve true love. Best of luck to you, good friend ^_^.

ps. Sorry this essay of mine has typos and bad grammar, I typed it up too fast.

Hm, I have never heard of this in Poland(that is for him to do it at such an excessive amount then get offended). I guess he's just a very giving person that happens to be Polish, they are quite hospitable; which is a great combination since I love Polish food; can you send some left overs?

Just tell him you want to save some and put it in the fridge, unless he misinterprets that and stockpiles you with tons of food- then your on your own. :-/
