Love / Why english men like polish women ? [126]

I think both the guys and the girls have a point here? I think we have many solutions to avoid getting yourself pregnant though. I think it all comes down to honesty and attitude?

It's fair to tell the men about responsibilities, but it's also fair to point out that it's your own responsibility who you choose to spend a night with? If the guy tells you that he doesn't want to get married, then it's completely up to you wether you sleep with him or not..

And about the attitude, it really doesn't matter if you're Polish, English, Dutch, German, Spanish, Italian, (Etc!) If you want a nice guy, then you should really try to be nice sometimes..

You know what they say, what goes around, comes around..

Travel / My 3 weeks in Poland.... I didn't want to leave. [33]

I didn't want to leave. I totally fell head over heels in love with the place!

I'm glad to hear someone's having fun!

A few of the culprits are the following: rampant inflation that eroded purchase power and decimated savings, and hence preventing most men from being able to raise a family on their own these days; social security pitting the old against the young and preventing people from investing in raising children as a means of providing for older age; various family and employment coercive laws that literally ripped families apart.

Sad but true..

USA, Canada / How can one migrate to Canada [43]

You need to come to Canada as a foreign worker or a student and work for two years or study for two years and work for one year.

I like the sound of that, sounds fair. :)

The two tallest nations in Europe are of course the dutch and the swedish.

I wish our women were shorter. I need a soapbox in most cases.

I didn't mean that as an insult!

History / German POWs after WW2 - did the allies commit mass murder? [228]

I'd only strike out of self-defense, so I agree. Most of the soldiers were just young men who were drafted, and following their orders. It doesn't make it right, but for those who don't understand; A soldier who refuses to perform his duty in times of war, will get himself executed.

So for most soldiers (Who are people like you and me, some people see them as heroes, but really they can get just as scared as you and me sometimes.) it really is a matter of survival. You or him.

There were and always will be people (Both men and women!) who have extreme vieuws and ideas, and those people most likely will not behave themselves in times of war.

War is hell. There's nothing heroic or good about it. In my opinion there can be no glorious victory, because on all sides, everyone loses something of their humanity and the aftermath should be clear for all to see. Look at us. 63 years after, we are still trying to place the blame for a number of things on eachother, when in reality, most of us didn't want this to happen..

So I agree with Bratwurst Boy to a certain extent, because most Wehrmacht soldiers where drafted young men who followed their orders, and behaved in ways that should be expected from soldiers, (Again, that doesn't make it right!) just like most of the Allied troops did.

Love / Why do Polish Women Think They Know Better? [134]

Se said that men must work and women must take care of the home and maybe work a little but only if she wants..

If she wants to stay at home then that is her business, just like it's someone else's business if she wants to work. It's 2009, and we're all different persons with different lifestyles and opinions, so I've learned that it's sometimes better not to speak for someone else..

Love / About Personal Problems (English / Polish relationships) [32]

Is it because some of us might have experienced something similar ?

Ofcourse, we all have similar experiences sooner or later. Often, we aren't as unique as we thought we were.

Is it because some of us might have friends who have similar problems ?

That could be the case, but then again, the person on the other side of your screen isn't the same person as your friend, so always keep in mind that no matter how much you've learned from their experiences, using the same approach on someone else might fail you horribly, where a completely different approach might work.

Is it just common sense ?

Sometimes, an assessment of a particular situation can be better made by someone who isn't emotionally attached. Objectivity isn't always the best choice, because sometimes, all that people really need is a bit of sympathy..

Another problem I have is wondering why it is that the original poster gets all the sympathy when we haven't heard the other side of the story.

Some stories might prove a little more complicated, but you'll always get one side of the story, which is the side people show you, and this could be for any given number of reasons. Tread lightly, don't jump to conclusions and maybe we shouldn't mistake some people's empathy for sympathy..

And why is the usual answer to these personal problems almost always: He's cheating on you, he's married, he already has a girlfriend.

That's what usually happens when people apply their own experiences to someone else's situation, often without any knowledge of the person who might've been involved. I say might, because I think it's easy for me to imagine that we can never be too sure about a posting on the internet.

Surely there can't be, what seems, such a large number of people who are taken in this way.

No? I would beg to differ. I would prefer to see someone as innocent untill proven guilty, and if proven guilty, I always try to remember that we all make mistakes, some more often than others..

I'd like to know why people cheat. What drives these people ? How can they be spotted before a romance begins.

You can't spot someone who cheats or has cheated before, and obviously you aren't born that way, although a broken heart can make you lose your ideals. Someone who cheats can do so for any given number of reasons. I don't understand the reason for cheating either, because I really am convinced you've got the freedom to leave a relationship whenever you're miserable with someone in that relationship.

Regardless, in every relationship there are two people at play, and these two people aren't perfect.

If I use my imagination, my best guesses would be that some people are too scared of hurting someone they've really loved once. (And maybe a part of them still does, maybe not always sexually.) Some people may have married someone they didn't like because of social pressure. Some people probably are scared of what their environment will think of them when they divorce a little too often, and some people might even want to keep a relationship working solely for financial reasons..

Etcetera.

I'd also like to know what posters think about giving the wrong advice, smart a$$ comments and how this might tip someone over the edge.

Deliberatly talking someone into breaking his or her heart (or breaking that of someone else!) seems pretty sick to me. I wouldn't want to wish that on someone else. In the end, we're responsible for our own actions though, and if we regret some actions, others shouldn't be completely unforgiving..

Does anyone wonder if some people have taken our advice and that advice has been wrong. And in fact a relationship might have been ruined because of one of our comments.

I don't wonder, I know it's a fact of life.

Hopefully, the answers to these questions will show that we do know what we are talking about and can be trusted.

Hey, if you carry no hatred in your heart, and are really trying to help someone else with all the good intentions of the world, I'd say you can be trustred, but that doesn't mean you're always right, or that it always turns out to be right..

Nobody's perfect.

Life / What should be done to make life in Poland better and more enjoyable? [94]

What should be done to make life in Poland better and more enjoyable?

What should be done? Well, maybe it's better to ask yourself what can be done?

Start with yourself? Dare to dream? Be optimistic? Be creative? Celebrate life? Break with religious fanaticism and don't judge eachother for making mistakes or doing stupid things sometimes? (Hey, everyone does that atleast once in a lifetime!)

Accept eachother's differences? (Be curious about those differences, instead of being afraid!) Keep in mind that most people are just like you, and they don't like to be lonely either, and just want to have fun most of the time.

Try to look at all the things you do have, because the most valuable things in life won't cost you anything but the effort you're willing to put into it! Try to help your brothers and sisters whenever you can, and always welcome a guest who's willing to lend you a hand, and be kind to strangers who are kind to you?

Oh, and money does make your life easier, we all know that, but it certainly doesn't help to create a better atmosphere out there, it's usually a smile, a friendly answer to a friendly question, or even the smallest act of kindness which helps to add to a better atmosphere.

If you can laugh, cry, have fun and share with friends, I'd say you're pretty succesful, whatever you're doing for a living. So try to see the humour in all things around you, and try to make the best out of what you have?

:)

Hey, it's all about the little things!

Oh, and last but not least: Add a bunch of smilies to your forums, because if they're funny and properly done, they make people smile sometimes..

;)

And there is nothing wrong with dating someone of the same race.

Correct. Just as there is nothing wrong with dating someone of a different race.

Hateful you are a retard who has no understanding of biology or genetics if you think this.

Well excuse me, but you don't seem to have much knowledge about this particular subject either?

Whites have been seperate from Blacks and other races for 60,000-80,000 years.

Thank you for demonstrating your lack of knowledge once again. Are you even aware of the fact that Aryans mixed with Persians in what is now Iran? Have you ever heard of the prophet Zoroaster? Zarathustra? Much of our original European culture got lost in history, thanks to the butchering of the Roman Empire.

If we were inbred, we would of died out long before the last ice age.

We are nothing more than a mutation. We aren't special. We aren't superiour. Some scientist recently came up with a theory that the gen that causes different eye colours due to a smaller production of melanin within the body mutated about 10.000 or 6000 years ago. The same goes for certain bloodgroups which have mutated, which are more recent mutations.

Before that, all humans supposedly had brown eyes.

Frank Sinatra, Stephen Hawking, Marie Curie and Stephen Fry all owe their blue eyes to a genetic mutation that likely occurred between 6,000 and 10,000 years ago, researchers say.

Scientists believe they have tracked down the cause of the eye colour of all blue-eyed humans on the planet today.

Henry VIII's 500-year-old tapestry gets 21st century makeover "Originally, we all had brown eyes", said Prof Hans Eiberg from the University of Copenhagen, who led the team.

The mutation affected a gene called OCA2 and "literally 'turned off' the ability to produce brown eyes", he says.

"They have all inherited the same switch at exactly the same spot in their DNA. From this we can conclude that all blue-eyed individuals are linked to the same ancestor," said Prof Eiberg, who reports the work in the journal Human Genetics.

You've got it all mixed up Castanea. (No pun intended!)

Oh, and Rap music, you may not like it, and I might even agree with you on some occassions, regarding some Rap artists, but surely there are more examples of things gone wrong in this world that you wouldn't want to teach your children?

All I want to tell people is that they make their own truth. It's what you choose to believe in, and when you choose something more open-minded, you'll find that even your own perception may change. We do have the power to change this world if we wanted to, because our own ideas affect the people around us, and vice versa.

I got angry at you last time, but that's my short temper and my personal experience with people who called me a traitor. I shouldn't be angry, and so shouldn't you. I should just tell you the truth as I percieve it, and hope you'll be able to see that there's nothing to be afraid of.

We're all human. The sooner people realize that, the better. There's no ultimate good, and no ultimate evil, and really we've all been fed far too many lies in the past two thousand and nine years.

No more mental slavery. No more lies. We're equal, we're all human, and no one should tell someone else we should hate eachother for having a different colour. There are good and bad people in all walks of life Castanea, and some people might not even be as half as bad as you would think.

I'm not your enemy, and so aren't these people. So let's keep talking about our issues and concerns then, without generalizations, without blaming eachother for being racist, political correct, calling eachother retards, morons, hippies or whatever our flawed brains might come up with.

I think it's nothing but fear, a history of violence, and dreadful experiences that drive people to think this way.

So my question is: Are you strong enough to overcome your own fear? Are you rational enough to see a simple truth?

I have, and had black friends, (I still hate to name the colour! We never did this to eachother and we just saw eachother as Arien, Jeffrey, Stanley, whatever your name was!) and they've never done anything to me that other people haven't done to me.

Look, I can get really angry too when I see a woman who got gang-raped by a few men who call themselves Muslim because according to them she isn't respectable. I too, would get nervous and probably scared when I'm the only white guy in the middle of let's say.. Harlem.

But I choose not to be angry at every Muslim, and I choose not to be scared of every black person. Be rational. Be fair.

This world isn't perfect, we all know that, and it will probably never be. But in general, you can believe and trust that most people would want to live a normal and peaceful life, just doing all the things that they would want to do, without having to harm anyone.

If you're willing to believe that, you've come a long way already. I'm not saying you should trust everyone just like that, but you should try to look at the positive things around you too.

I'm happy Barack Obama inspires people from all walks of life, and I'm happy he acknowledged non-believers too. (I hope he'll acknowlegde Pagans and Wiccans too one day, because they too, exist and should be able to live a life without recieving threats from anyone!) I'm not saying he's the best president ever, but he certainly tries to unite people, and I'm happy he addresses, and tries to inspire average Joe aswell.

So I hope for the best, and hope for opportunities for everyone.

Love / I'm pregnant by my Polish boyfriend but he wants me to abort it! [132]

do you have any regrets / advice??

I have many regrets, but leaving a girl who's pregnant wouldn't be one of those!

theres no answer, you know yourself.....whatever you do will be difficult.

i agree, it is your decision... do what you think is right...
i only want to add that you shouldn't be so negative about your family... they may be a bigger support then you think...

1. have the baby, be a single mother and have no support from him or contact off him, as difficult as it sounds right now, you will be surprised at how much support you will receive from your family and your friends, as for finances, as long as you work you can claim family tax credits, im not going to go all anicdotal on you, but I have friends that have had husbands walk out on them and they've raised children and worked and done better than manage, so it is possible.

Oh, and whatever you choose to do, do your best to remember to always stay positive and never to allow yourself to get bitter.. I've been bitter about quite a few things in my life, and for quite a while too! Trust me, whatever your decision will be, looking back in anger won't do you any good!

but it could make finding another suitable life partner difficult

I really think a partner is the last thing you want to think about right now, and that would be pretty much understandable, but do keep hope? There are single fathers out there too, and whenever the time is right for you, just remember there are enough guys who wouldn't mind dating a lady with a child. (And be serious about it!)

It's your decision to make, and it's a big decision, but I agree with Shelley, you should try to make up your mind before you run out of options.

I'm really sorry for you girl, and I don't think any of us should preach to you about wrong or right, because none of this was your fault. Just try to remember that there's always someone out there who means well with you, and I think you should trust that your parents love you, even when they make a comment or two that you may not really need right now.

UK, Ireland / POLES SUPERIOR TO BRITS? [260]

but I do admire poles for having more guts than anyone else in Europe.

Oh yeah?

We've had a 80 year long war with Spain, (Which was a much bigger country!) and we sank half the British fleet, and in South Afrika the British needed 5000 soldiers to defeat 80 of our farmers. (It's true!) During the Second World War, the Germans couldn't invade our country over land, (And they really had overwhelming numbers!) so they decided to bomb our cities and citizens into submission. We managed to stop the Japanesee fleet aswell. (All our ships got destroyed, but they had to turn around nonetheless, which gave the allies time to breathe.) Oh, and we also gave refuge to people who found themselves hunted down throughout Europe. Once, we also took in a lot of refugees from Czech, almost every householding in Holland offered them a meal and a bed for quite some time.

I think the Polish do have guts, but more than anyone else in Europe? I don't know about that really..

;)

Just felt like saying something, because we do have our pride!

Alright! It's been a while, I'll admit that much, but feel free to look it up, we even seized your most prized possession twice. ''The Sovereign Of The Seas''.

;)

And to make things even funnier, we've sold you back your own ship!

I am not going to apologise for colonising or being born in one of the greatest countries to have ever existed.

Hey, no one's actually asking you to apologize for anything?

Regarding colonisation, if you remember correctly this little island had been invated and colonised a few times, you do remember the Romans, the Saxons and the Normas? I suppose we just made the best of it and were destined to be Great, which in itself says that we are in fact superior!

Yup.. (Hey, you know I happen to like your little island quite a bit, but superiour? I'd say we should call it even, just because we're such a small country!)

Love / Age difference in our relationship. I'm 41, my girlfriend is 27. Common in Polska? [57]

Since when? Men have always dated younger girls in the UK It's 13 years difference hardly kiddle fiddling! Maybe if you were the one who was 27 and she the 41 it might have caused a bit of a stir a few years ago, but these days it's even acceptable for women to date younger men.

Girls still giggle about it though..

Quite sad...

Yes, we're all sad, we're all spoiled, we're all capitalists, we're all bad, we're not paying any taxes to help Poland, we've never tried to help Poland, we're all pathetic, we're all desperate, and we should all bown down and kneel to your slavic superiourity.

Seriously, what are you trying to prove with this thread? There's no what ''we'' have done, or what ''you'' have done, because the simple truth is, it's 63 years ago and all the people who did this are already dead, or soon will be.

:)

Oh, and if you need threads on the internet to prove how superiour you are, then really you must be the one who has an inferiourity complex?
