Life / Handguns Not Needed in Poland? [44]

Wroclaw Boy
"What about the child thats angry with other kids bullying him at school, he knows where daddys gun is kept, where the bullets are everything. How many more mass murders does America need, once Obama gets through national health guess whats next?? yep thats right."

Sure it is a tragedy; the gun should be secured at home. The larger question is why an adolescent would think that murdering someone is a net positive. The Tabula Rasa will never go after guns. He'd lose that fight hands down.

Right now, the Tabula Rasa is busy trying to convince (making a statement three days after the incident and after his DHS admin says the system works) the citizens of this country that he's capable of keeping them safe.

The last I've heard is that he's tired... Poor baby...

Life / Handguns Not Needed in Poland? [44]

Every American I have ever met thinks this is their right

It IS our right.

Being able to defend your house or person is something EVERY person does have and should have.

Amen...

Life / Handguns Not Needed in Poland? [44]

Between 1995 and 2004, handgun murders in Texas dropped by 18 percent. Gun owners proved to be much less likely than their peers to be arrested for non-violent crimes and violent crimes, including murder. And even though Texas (in 2004) had a population three million larger than when the bill was passed, the overall crime rate was lower in 2004-5,032 crimes per 100,000 Texans, as opposed to 5,478 crimes per 100,000.

Our government should place its trust in us, not the other way around.

The more guns you have in a society the more violent the criminals will be.

Prove it.

Language / Grammar Cases - would "revisiting" english grammar help with learning? [7]

Would brushing up on English grammar rules help at all with learning Polish grammar rules?

IMO absolutely... Articles, pronouns, prepositions, case: the whole bit.

I often say that I didn't realize how little I knew about my native tongue until I started to learn another language.

Language / Not sure if I will be able to speak Polish [53]

Lots of Poles pronounce "trz" at the beginning of the word as "cz", so it shouldn't be anything surprising for that person.

The "t" softens the rz into sh doesn't it?

History / The Poms who stood by the Poles in WW2 [156]

There were a number of British politicians that voiced their opinion of aggressive support early in the war.

As was mentioned in a previous post, Hitler had an affinity for the Empire.

History / What would Europe look like with Polish-Lithuanian-Ukrainian Commonwealth today [209]

Certainly not free. Ireland is the only country in the EU to hold a referendum on the treaty, as required by their constitution. Every other member state can ratify the treaty by a vote in their national parliament. As such, we hold responsibility for supporting or rejecting the treaty on behalf of about 490 million Europeans who do not have the option to vote.

News / Slavic linguistic union inside of EU; Polish language official [95]

I suggest particulary Polish as official in Slavic lingustic union, considering that Poland represent biggest Slavic country in EU. After all, ancient Polish linguistic area reached territories from Baltic to Balkan.

Sorry, but I have to disagree with you moj brat.

Keep the slavs free and independent...

Let the slavic nation states speak in their own tongue.

History / The Battle of Vienna - Poland helped save Europe [57]

Nobody has really shown how Europe was saved, I'm not convinced so far.

The Russians defeated the creme of the Deutsches Heer and the western allies, primarily the US, bombed the axis into oblivion.

Just because it had been Poland suffering during the last centuries from their weakness compared to their neighbours that doesn't make these neighbours the ultimate devil incarnate!

Stalin & Hitler: the devil shroud in mortal coil.

News / NEW PATRIOT MISSILES FOR POLAND [178]

oh, that could be the start of another thread entirely :D

How about a tease?

*yawn* and where's the EU, sire?

Scrappy, the EU was here on negotiating Iran's uranium enrichment. Where was our shrewd negotiating genius, you know, the guy occupying the White House?

US and China won't exactly "partner". More like China will own the US and take all the money.

Please describe how you see this scenario of yours becoming reality.

Who cares if they peak around?

I do...

This is a show of weakness of epic proportions.

I get this feeling that America and Russia will partner more in the future.

I get the feeling the US & China will partner more in the future.

I realize that the current administration will not get out of NATO. What you're seeing is what I would do if I were in power.

What? You don't want to provide that help again.. and PAY for it as well! For shame!

If it were up to me the US would withdraw from NATO.

News / NEW PATRIOT MISSILES FOR POLAND [178]

Of course I am serious. I know that in such a situation the bat phone would ring and help would be requested.

My point is that the Poles should depend on no one other than themselves for their defense. The old adage of "there is strength in numbers" should be pursued.

Russia would overrun Poland without too much difficulty.

Would that action be tolerated by the EU?

News / NEW PATRIOT MISSILES FOR POLAND [178]

Poland is capable of defending itself and should build their own defense systems. After all, why on God's green earth would you trust this administration with your safety when it has people like this in its midst: powerlineblog.com/archives/2009/10/024720.php

I bet not one of those idiots even know what its really used for

Are you talking about Poles or a certain Chicago north side baseball club? :')

USA, Canada / SHOULD WE POL-AMS BE ASHAMED OF AMERICA? [24]

If you want to be ashamed about America be ashamed at the lack of competence in the people running the country.

News / The most spectacular errors in Polish politics. [264]

Refusal to enter into some negotiation with the Germans over issues involving Czechoslovakia and the Danzig area were big mistakes

Sorry, but treaties with arch criminals are not worth the paper they're written on.
