UK, Ireland / England, Dirty, Expensive and a dangerous place to live? [205]

all cities have high crime statistics, but I think there is generally more trouble in small towns to be honest... and not just in the UK. Anyway we all have different opinions, but if you havent lived somewhere then I dont think you are qualified to rate it or slate it.

Love it or loathe it, there is no denying that London is one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world.. and there is a reason that tourists flock here in droves. You would have to live here to appreciate it fully, not just spend a weekend in a dodgy hotel hanging out in Leicester Square. Shelley you should be ashamed to start a thread slating your own country.

Genealogy / How tall is the average Polish Girl [18]

i should be intimidated seeing 6 foot blondes all around

why would you feel intimidated? seems you might have an inferiority complex. I think many guys would be very happy being surrounded by six foot blondes.

Travel / Recommendations for Zakopane [48]

I went up this for the first time yesterday, there are bars and restaurants at the top.
I took the last photos above this post from the top and on the walk down

When I went up I couldnt see a thing from the top as it was p***g with rain and blowing a gale.. mostly everything was closed, but I did discover a bar and had my first taste of hot beer, which was well needed, then I bought a fleece on the way back cos it was that cold.

Love / Could our relationship work despite the language barrier? [34]

But do you know she wants to date you or you just want to date her? Anyway, it worked for me.. nothing is insurmountable if you want it bad enough and it can be fun, but also frustrating and you need to put the effort in if you want it to go the distance. Its not only the language, but the cultural differences that you will find out along the way...

Love / WHAT TRAITS DO POLISH WOMEN LOOK FOR IN A MAN? [48]

Say it's a beautiful Saturday afternoon and you had nothing to do.. Wouldn't you dress up pretty and put make-up on and cruise the streets trying to find Mr. Right? If you said no, you are a liar!!!

What kind of rubbish is this? I am sure there are plenty of Polish girls who dont feel the need to go out cruising for men and would rather enjoy themselves with friends or amuse themselves in other more mind stretching activities.. I know that things are different there and its generally accepted that you will settle down at some point, but you are conjuring up images of desperate packs of women roaming the streets caked in make up looking to trap a guy.

Polish girls in POLAND first look at looks, then if he's wealthy or nice or whatever, Polish girls in the west first look at money, but that a generalization of course

I wonder what you are basing this on? If the UK can be classed as the 'west' then I think there are far fewer women here looking at money over looks than in some other countries.. but that of course is also a generalisation..........................zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Love / Kotek - is it normal for my boyfriend to call other girls this name? [30]

Did you know that Kotek is the name of a feminine sanitary product. When you consider that its not quite so endearing. I think anyone who says they would delete the text messages without reading them is a liar, we all have a natural curiosity and in that situation i would most definitely review them. I was recently in a similar position, only it wasnt my boyfriend but my boss that lent me an old phone.. there were some old text messages on it and yes I did look.. it was extremely interesting, if somewhat disturbing...

Love / How do you approach marriage to Polish men ? [9]

Having the words 'I love you' said to you is not essential in my opinion

I disagree with this.Of course they are only words and actions should speak louder, but if I had been with someone for this length of time and he had never told me he loved me I would be worried. Just ask him if he thinks you have a long term future together.. at this stage in your relationship you need to know whether its going anywhere and if it worth waiting for him for the year he is away. Good luck.

Travel / Taking a car to Poland for Vacation help [13]

I agree with dnz.. sounds like a total waste of time and money to me, just for the chance to show off your fancy set of wheels in Poland, which will just draw attention to you as a tourist with more money than sense. Anyway, have a nice trip :)

News / Child with Polish ex, is 275 Euros a normal amount for child maintenance? [53]

I dont disagree with the law per se, only in cases where the woman disowns the man and doesnt want him to see the child.. why should she then expect money from him.. and if she gets married or lives with someone else, why should they not pay for their child together as a family.. to me this seems more normal.

News / Child with Polish ex, is 275 Euros a normal amount for child maintenance? [53]

Thanks, I do understand the law, I just dont agree with it. Of course there are genuine cases and each should be assessed on its merits, but in my opinion someone who raises a child is more of a father than one who just provided the sperm and has never seen it (whether by choice or not). They werent married, it seems she was cheating on him and ditched him when she got pregnant.. therefore in my opinion he shouldnt be forced to pay! Do you think people dont live on welfare and claim child support at the same time? Wake up, some people take the **** and live a better life on benefits (including child support), they get housing etc.. and dont have to do a days work. I heard two schoolgirls on the bus the other day saying how they wanted to get pregnant as soon as possible so they could get a council house and benefits.. nothing about wanting to get married or raise a family. Scumbags.

News / Child with Polish ex, is 275 Euros a normal amount for child maintenance? [53]

It might not be a popular opinion with others, but I disagree with her getting any money at all from you. I suppose if the courts are making you pay then there must be tests done to prove your paternity, if not then I wouldnt pay a thing. Since she doesnt want you to be a part of the baby's life then she shouldnt be asking you for money either.. she will most likely move on with a new husband or partner, so why shouldnt he pay? If you are forced to pay out because of the court order and cannot contest it, then at least think about your other rights too and try to maintain some contact with the child. You dont say how long the arrangement will be in place for, but I guess it would be reviewed periodically so you would have some right to challenge. I know that these laws are there to protect children and the women who raise them, but some people blatantly abuse them and in this case I am on the side of the guy.. and Im a woman!

Love / Polish men (guys) - foreign women (girls)? [21]

much of a muchness" 50 or so girls on the dance floor at anyone time. I don't think I saw more than 5 guys on the dance floor. This from 23:00 - 05:00

A lot of guys dont feel confident about dancing, especially when presented with huge groups of girls.. that doesnt mean they are not making an effort, but maybe they are just more interested in the drink.

Statistically speaking couples who have more in common with one another have more successful relationships than 'opposite couples.'

Who the XXXX cares about statistics when it come to relationships! I would rather be in a minority than follow the masses.

From what i hear, it seems like single polish guys in the UK have a hard time.

I dont think thats true. The ones that dont meet foreign women, but would like to) are probably those that dont bother to integrate and get too pissed up on a weekend to be able to speak Polish, let alone English. And the others are probably not bothered or not really single anyway :).

Love / Polish men (guys) - foreign women (girls)? [21]

I could see more benefits to involve in a relationship with someone who's more like you (Polish), sharing the same customs, values and traditions as you, than with a woman from a foreign country?

Have you never heard of the saying 'opposites attract'? Some people find cultural differences attractive, if challenging and some people dont like to date outside of their own culture. There are plenty of threads on here about Polish/non Polish relationshipsif you search for them in the Relationship section.

Travel / Zakopane! At last! Holiday advice visits. [11]

Stara Izba is a nice traditional restaruant on Krupowski street, which is where you will find the main drag of bars etc. There were no clubs open when I was there, but I think they are mainly open from Thursday to Saturday. Mountains are great.. all the trails are easily posted and you can get lots of info. from wherever you are staying. Get a map if you are planning on doing serious hiking. Vodka is only £4 a bottle.. enjoy!

Life / Polish men in shorts with sandals and socks.. [63]

polish ladies have more dress style!

Well since we are talking about shorts.. During a recent trip to Poland I observed a tendency for young Polish women to wear knee length shorts and strange pattered tights (thin denier with patterns runnning down the side) coupled with the obligatory stiletto type shoe and most usually accompanied by some kind of tight fitting blouse unbuttoned to the max. Is it is only me who finds this look weird and unattractive? I did find myself wearing white clothes though in order to blend in.. thank god the 80s look is back thats all i can say!
