Life / Poland: The Things That Make Foreigners Lift a Brow [123]

Admin

I like tripe. I remember when I was a kid, living in Poland, my father use to take to a restaurant for tripe, “flaczki” in Polish. Prepared correctly, tripe is delicious. Prepared incorrectly, tripe smell like cow manure.

You will find tripe on the menu in Mexican restaurants. Mexicans call tripe "monudo". I live in Arizona, large Mexican population, and menudo is offered in many Mexican restaurants. I am sure, that other ethnic groups eat tripe also.

Marzena
Marzena, people in Poland do not celebrate birthdays. It is a foreign idea.

Life / Living in Poland without working? - Your opinion [63]

In your opinion, how much money, in dollars or euros, should a 50 years old person bring with him to Poland, so he can live in Poland without working?

How/where would you invest in Poland? Would you invest in Poland?

Life / Irish man wanna move to Poland [60]

Wujek,

You are correct. It was not Irish but Scottish.

Do you know where Scottish settled in Poland?

Irish and Polish do have a lot in common, drinking in pubs/bars and telling stories.
I heard that from an Irishman who lived Poland. He liked living in Poland.

Life / American moving to Poland [34]

Guest
My boyfriend lived in the US for a year but now lives back home in Poland and I am considering living in Poland just to be with him. But the problem is what job would I get when I don't know the language. Also that I would like to go to college there. I am planning to visit there for 2 months then make my decision. Are there many Americans in Poland?

Stay in US, if you want to have a future.
Your boyfriend went back to Poland.
Perhaps, he is more special to you, than you are to him.
Open your eyes. :)

Life / American moving to Poland [34]

Is that type of work beneath your dignity? a job is a job.

In US, illegal aliens, Mexicans and other Latin Americans do that type of work.
It is least desirable work, pay is minimal.

History / POLAND BEFORE 966 [27]

A also have Ukrainian roots. My grandfather changed his religion from Ortodox to Catholic to marry my grandmother.

Iwona,

Your grandfather made the right choice.
I remember, when I was a kid, living in Poland, a priest told me that only Catholics will go to haven. :)

I am being facetious.

News / Poland- Visa Waiver Program [55]

krysia

They get goverment support, free housing, they don't have to work, have 20 kids, form gangs, deal with drugs, guns and eat our pets.

LOL

Krysia,
Have you tried pet meat. It is great. It tastes like chichen. :)

Many Poles want to come to US. I understand that.
However, Poles have failed to see numerous opportunities unfolding in Poland, in EU member countries and countries that will became EU members.
Grass in NOT always greener on the other side.

Work / So where are all you unemployed hard done by workers then????? [35]

To answer Rafik, I don't work in an office but reading this there are a load of anal orifices making comments (look it up in an English dictionary if you don't understand)

noddy,
I am impressed with your extensive vocabulary and your attitude. You should have no problem attracting Polish workers.

You probably consider yourself a savior, offering generous wages to homeless, destitute and impecunious Poles. :)

Perhaps, you are just an obnoxious SOB and no one wants to work for you.

don't have anything against you too but i don't care if you care or you don't.i just express my opinion on that subject.american embassies make a great bussiness in poland and are supported by their government.treating people like a cattle doesn't match to the words said by your officals about"special relationship between 2 nations". i feel sorry for this people in waiting in a few kilometres queue, but it is their choice.i am not in it

rafit,
A few kilometers queues are not visible in Poland only. I saw queues in front of American Embassies in Ecuador, China, etc.

As far as "special relationship between 2 nations" is concerned, Poland is not very special or important nation to the US. My impression, US treats Poland like a bustard child. :)

Work / So where are all you unemployed hard done by workers then????? [35]

Hey Opts thanks for the compliment, could it be that it's because I was educated in England thats the reason I have a good vocabulary!!! I guess it's you who are the sophistical rhetorician inebriated with the exuberance of your own verbosity.

I know that England has very good educational system.
England has made great contributions to the world.
Poles like the British. I like the British.
I am sorry that you suffered injuries.
But, when you were in school, is it possible that you slept during class? :)

P.S.
You selected a wrong forum in your search for "skilled building workers".
I do not think that Polish skilled building workers sit by their computers and participate in this forum.

News / Poland- Visa Waiver Program [55]

Well, as we speak of today we are the most pro-American country in Europe, after the UK we are also the second most important US ally on this continent - in long term it would be quite unwise from the US to continue treating us this way.

LOL LOL LOL

Please excuse me, I am not being facetious. Your above statement is funny.

Ja jestem Polakiem. Taka jest prawda. :(
US treats Poland like a bustard child.

Real Estate / Real estate in poland - how an average Pole can afford such prices? [78]

I agree with Wujek.
Use an real estate agent, someone who knows the business and laws, an agent who is reputable.
Do not worry about 3% commission. A good agent will protect you from being cheated, from financial ruins.
I never bought real estate in Poland, did many times in US.
I am knowledgeable when it comes to real estate. Occasionally, I am amazed by the chicanery that occurs in real estate. In US, real estate is "highly regulated" business.

Word of advice. When you do find a property that you want to buy, inquire what is included and what is not included in the sale, record/film every property feature/item that is included in the sale with a camera. Put it in writing.

Last house I bought, about 3 years ago, fuc..... agent strip the property of its landscape.

Life / Money Transfers to Poland [12]

Why use money transfer services?
Send your relative(s) an ATM card.
Deposit certain amount of cash into your checking account.
Your relative(s) will use the ATM card to withdraw money anytime.
The fee for withdrawal is about $1 or 3 Zloty.

News / Dealing with constant insults against Polish [323]

Benjamin no need for you to get pissed off.
Just ignore those people.
Those are not your friends; they are your co-workers, colleagues, etc.
What is important is what people, who you care about and love, say to you or about you.
There rest is just hot air.

Real Estate / flat community charge in poland [5]

I think Somkeyone is referring to the maintenance cost.

I do not know what the cost is in Poland.
In US, it can range from 35% to 65% of gross income.
It depends on the age of the property.

If you take the net income, divide it by the current rate of return on similar investments, or the rate of return you desire, this will give you an estimate of how much you should pay for the property.

UK, Ireland / English people attitude towards Poles? [761]

i am going to move to poland to a farm

dingdong,
Why do you want to live on a farm?
What do you find attractive about Polish farms and living on the farm?
I am curious. Perhaps, I am missing something.
