Food / ANYBODY MAKE HOME-MADE KIEŁBASA? [21]

Here we don't kill the pig---We got to the store and buy the front or rear shank of the pig.Like,it's real cheap and not as messy. We only make enough for a few weeks.I mean,How much kielbasa can you eat at one time ????I find that too much of a good thing at one one time turns you off it, even though it's really good !!!!

Wonderful Country-up north in ontario Canada. It's near Algonquin Park,Barry's Bay area. The Kaszubians still live in the bush and have the same dialect which they brought from Poland,Kaszuby area 150 years ago.I make a point of going there at least once a year.Lot's of excitement in the area during the summer when all Polish scouts from Ontario and some from Quebec have their camps in the region.Great area for a summer holiday.!!!

Food / Is it just me, or is the Polish diet rather unhealthy? [119]

The New Pepsi generation in Poland is growing up with fast foods heavy in fat content.i.e.Mcdonalds.As more fast food chains open overweight people will be just as big a problem in Poland as in USA,Canada and England. Hamburgs, fries, pizza ,fried chicken etc.will become a staple food diet. Then you will really see the population expand.

Food / Are there any Polish recipes in which alcohol is an ingredient? [13]

Here's everybody's favourite "Chruscziki"
or also known as 'Faworki"

2 cups flour
2-3 egg yolks
2 tablespoons soft butter
2 tablespoons confectioners sugar
1/3 cup sour cream
1 tablespoon 6% white vinegar or alcohol
2 tablespoons rum
lard or oil for fryimg

Mix butter, egg yolks, sugar and alcohol or vinegar together.
While mixing, slowly add flour. Knead the dough. Keep beating and
kneading the dough for 15 minutes. When ready, put it in a bowl,
cover, and let stand in a cool place for an hour. Roll dough on
the board till it is very thin. Cut 2x7 inch strips, make a slit
in the middle and pull one end through it.

In a deep frying pan, heat the lard (oil). To test readiness of
oil, put a small piece of dough in it, if it immediately comes to
the surface the temperature is right. Put 4-5 strips at a time
and deep fry on both sides. Take out and place on a paper towel.
Sprinkle with confectioner's sugar.

"EB" was a popular brand of beer introduced by Elbrewery in 1993 and marketed toward young consumers. Although Grupa Żywiec no longer includes EB in its product line, the beer is still available in the United States, Germany and other export markets. Elbrewery currently produces the following beers: Specjal Jasny Pełny, Specjal Mocny, Warka Gdańskie, and Kaper.

Sporting an incredibly diverse and unusual menu, Fret@Porter's kangaroo steak is one of the best we've had in Europe. The décor is loud and eccentric, yet somehow manages to be very tasteful.
