Language / "sorry" instead of "przepraszam" [76]

I heard "sorry" instead of "przepraszam" a few times, but only young people. I think it's shorter (of course, 2 syllables instead of 3), and slang, people use this word when they're with friends or families. There's nothing serious. In France, like i guess in many other places, we say "c'est cool" (=it's cool). You wouldn't say that to your boss for example, but to friends, relatives, etc. I don't see any problem about that, but i think that it may disappoint the most puritan persons here... ;)

UK, Ireland / TRUTH AND DELUSION ABOUT POLES IN UK [65]

I really don't see what's the point of Poland and some other Eastern Europe countries joining the E.U?

Why not ? Why should Italy or Austria belong to the EU and not Poland ?...

Why is that most Polish people left their country?

Because salaries are often higher in some countries + they are, for many of them, offered a job. Don't think that Poles "flee" their country ;)

News / Poland to Change the National Anthem? [22]

La Marseillaise, it is terribly out of date in terms of lyrics

Yeah, the French hymn is about war, and especially the WW1...it mentions "impure blood" (enemy's blood) for example, now that Europe is getting "closer" and that Germany and France do their best to have a normal/good relationship...out of time, yeah ;)

+ the hymn is quite long compared to most of other national hymns...

Then you're right, osiol, Portugal follows Poland everywhere...

PS : for those interested in football, Portuguese even followed Poles there. Portugal came after Poland in the Euro 2008 Qualiications... ;)

Work / Krakow or Warsaw - which is a better place to work? [2]

I've never been to Warsaw...
First you know what Krakow is like as you've been there.
Warsaw is maybe less interesting, historically, as it was almost totally destroyed after WW2. But the center was rebuild and is said to be great... :)

The nightlife may be better in Warsaw though, because the city is much bigger...Can't really tell.

Language / What language do you like better, Polish or English? [71]

English is less complicated!

I agree ;) And i don't think there's anyone to disagree...except maybe Poles themselves...but even them, if they know both languages would agree that English grammar is much easier :)

UK, Ireland / Will Polish names eventually become popular in the UK? [53]

Both do Polson Keysha and Kasia (my daughter has a school friend british english with Kasia as her 1st name)

I know that Kasia exists, i know at least one Polish friend called Kasia...I thought i invented Keysha though ;) LoL
This British girl called Kasia, how do people pronounce it as it is still uncommon in Britain ? [keysha] or [kah-sha] or [keyża] ("ż" like the "s" in "usual"...)

:)
