Life / Help wanted with the Polish law; she got pregnant and returned to Poland [41]

U lack credibility b/c u think abortion is murder!

i never asked for any credibility - i dont need it, i just wanted you to open your eyes and see that you havent got any, either. abortion is not perfectly fine, unless youre a spoilt, immature moron who doesnt want to take responsibility for their actions and kill something that would be a person one day. i dont need laws to know whats right and whats wrong.

What it is NOT dependent on in the least is the opinion of people on the internet or anywhere else for that matter.

yeah say that to rockymason, he thinks his opinion is inevitable to just about anybody, cos he's got a DEGREE and he knows what hes talking about. ha ha so sad.

Go get a college degree before you even attempt to destroy my credibility

sorry to dissapoint you but im not as stupid and uneducated as you might think. you dont need a degree to consider yourself smart and credible, what sort of credibility on this forum do you think you have? do you know what credibility is and what you have to do in order to earn it? youre just some silly kid with a college degree, its hypocritic and ignorant of you to tell people things like that, you have no idea about it. contraception, if used properly, is very good but it sometimes fails. and abortion is murder and im not saying that cos im RC, its wrong and i couldnt go through with it and then live with myself even if i was an atheist. are you qualified or exerienced on this topic? you dont need to have cancer to be a doctor and cure other peoples cancer, but they are qualified to do that, and i seriously doubt you have a degree in family planning. so cut the bullsh*t about you being credible. you should get over yourself kid.

Life / Poles in Poland: How did you learn your English? [60]

I'm 22 years old now, i started learning when i was.. hmm... about 5, maybe 6. First it was private lessons, then some in school and cartoons in english. Now it's web sites/games/programs/music/books in english, just to be "in touch" with this language.

basically the same situation here, but i lived in England for over 3 years, the last 2.5 in a non-Polish environment. Must say i learnt more English since ive been over here than when i was at school.

Language / "sorry" instead of "przepraszam" [76]

I remember from Polish class that there was a time in Poland when we tried to get rid of all the foreign vocabulary and created quite a few funny Polish substitutes, such as "zwis męski"(a "man hanger") instead of "krawat"(tie, i think krawat has French origins?).

UK, Ireland / Polak moving to north-west England [56]

They dont meet many Polish speaking Scots.

surprisingly, because when i get my Scottish bloke to say something in Polish, he sounds scarily Polish. but then if its something longer, he tends to sound Russian as well. or tries to sound like Borat. he's such a child lol.

Language / "sorry" instead of "przepraszam" [76]

Yeah whatever michal. If you say "sory" in Poland, with the hard "r", it can be in some cases used as 'przepraszam'. But then many people dont like it. I was gettin out of a bus once and as ususal it was PACKED, people literally standing/sitting on each other, and i stomped on someones foot and said 'sory', and they were like 'it's przepraszam' ha ha. touchy touchy.

Then when i was drunk, some people thought i was Irish when i spoke lol... I agree with polski_zyd, you can tell who is Polish just by the way they look, dress or even walk. And Polish men always wear socks (mostly white socks) with sandals in the summer ha ha. And girls always have a "dżinsowa kurtka" lol.

would an Englishman even recognize the Polish Language as being polish?

they usually assume you are Polish cos youve got a foreign accent. when i was blonde, everyone here thought i was Swedish though lol.

Love / Polish boyfriends [77]

this thread is full of examples of how badly some Polish men behve and im sure the nice Polish guys arent very happy about it, but i kinda agree some Poles are like that. quite a few of my English friends dated them and none of the relationships lasted. if there was a long term Polish girlfriend in their past you can be almost sure you will hear about her and it will make your life hell. they tend to be very sneaky, very secretive, often using the excuse of 'language barrier' just so they dont have to talk. speaking on the phone/txting in Polish and not bothering to say what it was all about (if im on the phone speaking Polish i tell my man who it was and roughly what it was about, just so he doesnt feel excluded from my life) seems to be a norm as well... it just creates this feelig of mistrust. they often pull out of the relationship for no reason, or at least they will not tell what the reason is, they will just cease contact and avoid being approached. i dont know if my friends were so unfortunate picking them blokes, but this seems to be a common thing with Polish guys. maybe its the fact of them being abroad and it makes things very confusing and difficult, or they dont quite know how to get out of a sticky situation without causing any more trouble as its a different culture etc., but then why act like such a twit and break someones heart cos you dont know what you want from life? or use someone and dump them when you cant gain anything more?

Language / Who wants a Linguaphone Polish Course...? [30]

well, he either really likes to 'pull strings' so much that he lost himself in doing it cos its so much fun and its all he ever does, or he seriously thinks he's a genius and speaks better Polish than the natives do. wanna take a vote on that? lol

almost every name has more than one name day in the Polish calendar, but you dont celebrate all of them, youre meant to pick one and stick to it every year.

Love / CONFUSING FRIENDSHIP? She doesn't want to go to Poland now. [30]

pennypinchin

hey ive been thinking, the ticket isnt refundable, but she can surely move the date of departure and arrival. you pay a small fee and the difference between the price of your old ticket and the new one (dont think you pay anything if the new ticket is cheaper) and thats it. this way she wont have to waste the ticket, or go with that guy and have a rubbish time. you can book a ticket too and go with her. if they booked their tickets together, your friend should call the airlines and they will sort it out.

yeah dave, make sure you get some flowers for tomorrow, we are telling her :P

I dunno why but I've always liked when two non-natives like urselves use English to communicate with each other and u r both Polish.

its really weird when you talk to another Pole in English, its like a competition whos darn better. i always win hee hee.

if u feel so bad with own gf then why the hack are you with her

thats what i used to shout at my bloke babe, but you have to give them space or they will get sick of you. when you stop nagging, they will come see YOU whenever they can and actually get excited about coming home to you. have a little patience :)

theyve been together about a year i reckon. hes gettin into trouble with work over these phonecalls, its a long weird story, they are Polish...

like that damn question "do you prefere your friends to me?"---

when my bloke was about to go to Afghan and then when he came back, i was really clingy and id get very upset if he couldnt come and see me everytime i wanted him to. we'd argue a lot, but i eventually came to terms with the fact he is not my property lol. im just glad i have him back.

there is a guy at work who rings his girlfriend on every tea break and lunch. he often pops out for a quick chat in between as well, i have no idea what they talk about so often, but its kinda insecure and controlling, checking up on someone so often. creepy.
