History / Slavs vs Germanics: Battle of the centuries [44]

I always wondered about the Dutch and their gay tendencies. Keep your bottom down when you are drinking with me, I'm not Freddy Mercury ;) ;)

Germans do indeed have better cars. Imagine cruising in a Porsche to this,
Joe Satriani, Driving at Night

Germans are more reliable generally.

News / Poland. Sold for nothing. [341]

True but my point is that Poland had a decent percentage of communistic parties who still lingered like a bad smell after the end of the 80's. It was sold but there were sympathisers from within.

News / Poland. Sold for nothing. [341]

The bigger powers just wanted to carve it up and that's unacceptable. It was a country that should have been spared this humiliating descent into communism. Still, Poland should also accept that it had its fair share of communists too. Cyrankiewicz was, then wasn't, was, then wasn't ;)

UK, Ireland / Sad life of a Polish migrant in UK. Ch. 3 - Food [93]

Pies are tasteless?????? That's one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. Yorkshire pudding and roast beef have a characteristic taste. I like ruskie and kluski śląski but they are a little blander overall. Still, there's always salt.

History / What would Europe look like with Polish-Lithuanian-Ukrainian Commonwealth today [209]

Go ahead and try. We hear about civil war and I see what it does. I'd rather be uncivilised if that's the case. It's about time that the people were heard and politicians stopped ruining lives.

I apologise for the name calling, I don't want to offend Ukrainian nationals who like her. I like and respect your country. I just feel that she is far too opportunistic but feel free to discuss and paint your picture of her. You are Ukrainian so will be better informed than I. Imparting and disseminating info is what the forum is all about.

Nice anthem btw!

News / Why are Polish politicians so bad at accepting bribes? [17]

Well, if the crime of bribery is waivered then you are encouraging all manner of people to do it. Politicians wheedle in all kinds of ways anyway. They can wheich your money and take a bribe for their daring ;)

News / Why are Polish politicians so bad at accepting bribes? [17]

A large part of it stems from the indifference and acceptance of everyday Poles. They just shrug or make that high-pitch noise and turn a blind eye, flapping their arms.

If there were severe penalties, they'd think twice.

News / Should rape carry a life sentence in Poland? [146]

Shelley, you know how RCC priests are ;) ;) Do as I say and not as I do :) Ozzy (You're No Different) and Metallica (Holier than Thou) both have good songs about warning against judging before looking inward at yourself.

The onus in on him but, unfortunately, the anus was on her ;)

News / Should rape carry a life sentence in Poland? [146]

Yeah, Gumishu takes that line. Somehow (because he is a righteous Pole?), we are expected to be merciful and let him off the hook. His life wasn't ruined as he didn't even do time. He has no criminal record that I know of.

The logic here is weird at times.

News / Poland. Sold for nothing. [341]

We are cultured and civilised, CK, and I don't enter into comparisons with others. The Jews don't hinder me in any way and they haven't meddled much in my country. I have nothing against Jewish people but dislike their IDF. Thankfully, many in the IDF have started to desert from this brutal force.

CK, when you stop reading the back of matchboxes, we can start discussing theology seriously ;) ;)

Usury, where did you get this word from?

Can you prove this, CK? 'What do you mean, you crucify your king?'. 'We have obeyed Lord Caesar, crucify him'. 'He's done no wrong, no not the slightest thing'. It was his own people who wanted the sacrifice and Jesus that agreed to it to express God's grace. He did it for humanity and I don't believe in falsifying the past.

Love / Why do Polish Women Think They Know Better? [134]

They have been conditioned into thinking that they receive an elite education without considering the merits of other countries' systems.

Being forthright and headstrong is in their blood. I call some of them 'The Never Wrongs'.

Life / Haunted Homes in Poland [173]

There are said to be some in this region. There is one in £abędy, just outside Gliwice. My friend is a ghosthunter and he has all the apparatus.

UK, Ireland / Sad life of a Polish migrant in the UK. Ch. 4 - Language [66]

Polish immigrants choose that life, nobody is pointing guns at their heads to go to the UK and leave their beloved Poland behind.

1) Good point. You are not in a classroom

2) Some do, some don't. I can speak it fairly well but I have been here for 5 years.

3) I wouldn't class it as polite but he was just curious.

The onus lies on Tusk to create what opportunities he can and for Poles to take more initiative and responsibility to carve out their own chances.
