UK, Ireland / BEWARE when coming over UK [363]

There is a genuine debate over how big a part the RAF played in the ‘Battle of Britain’, basically there’s a feeling the contribution of the navy has been ignored, but really it’s just arguing over detail.

Yes, it's always a pity when somebody’s contribution is being overlooked. Next time I will have some free time, I will try to read something about it, it sounds very interesting.

Agree with your other comments Mat [OK if I call you that?], Poland’s history is fascinating and I am but a novice in the subject- the more I learn the more I am amazed by the resilience of the Polish people.

I'm still thinking about writing about some interesting periods and characters from polish history, but there is so much of it, and I have so little free time. :(

And yes, you can call me Mat. It's a lot easier I guess. :)

Maty er no, I was implying the strength of ouir Royal Navy during the WW2 period. Germnay stood no chance of invading us.

You are right, but that's why the Germans came up with the air attack. What would be the faith of GB if the Nazis would manage to destroy RAF nobody knows, but we are not here to discuss possibilities, but rather facts. And one of the facts is that Germans didn't succeed in accomplishing their goal because RAF did their job properly, and you can say that the Poles were an answer to British prayers. RAF really had a big shortage of pilots at one point, and Poles were just the right people at the right time. Although they didn't participate in BOB from the whole beginning they had big successes in the air, for example with the squadron 303 having the biggest score of shoot down enemy airplanes. The reputation of polish pilots was so big that squadron 302 was frequently being used to escort the kings plane, and also other prominent British dignitaries. When Winston Churchill was coming back to UK in 1942 squadron 302 was specially withdrawn from the front in order to protect his plane, etc...etc…

For a start Poland had no empire. win already. not to mention UK defeated a superpower, known as Spain back in the 1500's, navy victory wise.

As far as Poland not being an empire, well you are right, its size can't be compared to the one England had in the XIX th century, but still it was once the biggest country in Europe.

Polands war and battle victories is still way off UK's victories.

Well if you putted it that way, let’s make a competition. I will name few won by us wars that spring to my mind at this moment, and then you will name the same amount of wars won by England, ok? It sounds like a lot of fun, don’t you think? Ok, I will start: we defeated the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation twice in the XI th and XII th century, Teutonic Knights in the XV century, the Ottoman Empire in the XVII century which basically meant the beginning of its decline, Sweden in the XVII century, and Russians twice in the XII century (inter alia hetman Żółkiewski took by assault Moscow, something that still hadn’t been repeated, even by such historic figures like Napoleon or Hitler) and in the XX century, which stopped the commie march towards west for another 20 years. Ok, enough for now. It's your turn. :)

UK, Ireland / Reporting Illegal polish workers in UK to Hm customs [133]

So what's the big deal? You claim to have denounced some people that were trying to screw your system. You did it totally legally, good for you, but why are you talking on and on about it? Do you think that it will in any way affect personally anyone on this board? Sorry to bring it to you so harshly, but it wont. So unless you have some new information on this subject it’s time to stop repeating yourself, because, as Johnny Bravo used to say, “this is getting really old really fast”. :)

ddint fall though did we

er ROYAL NAVY MATE stronger than USA navy, check mate bye

Are you implying that Luftwaffe was stopped by your Royal Navy rather than by RAF during the BOB? :)

Struggled with what? we stopped hitler dyuring BOB with defeatign their air force, sicne when has Poland won a war? haha

never.

Actually during it’s existence Poland won a lot of wars for example with countries like: Germany, Sweden, Czech, Turkey, Teutonic Knights, Russia, etc… Our history is pretty interesting, so I recommend any historic book regarding my country. :)

News / Darwins theory of Evolution in Polish schools [59]

Religion is a faith....as in it requires blind faith in something that cannot be proven.

Well, if it could be proven than we wouldn't call it faith, now would we? :)

Also, evolution is going on all aroung us. Look at bacteria.

And what is wrong with a belief that he triggered it, and that evolution is also his work? :)

There's obviously a trend to slag off church and religion in the western part of Europe. Actually it's quite understandable since church has a lot of bad things on it's conscience, but there are few things that need to be clarified here. First of all, after the fall of the Imperium Romanum it was the church that carried the torch of science and civilization forth. The only people that actually could read and write at that time were only priests and monks, etc...Funny that you mention the theory about earth being the center of universe, because as you probably already know, the scientist that abolished it, Nicolaus Copernicus, was in fact a catholic clerk. :)

Back to the main topic , I was always taught at my religion classes that the whole history about Adam and Eve was just a metaphor and shouldn't be taken literally, thus I always thought that both thesis don't contradict each other.

Life / Situation of women in Poland and the society [25]

That depends on that divorced or separated woman. :) But I don't think that the fact that she is divorced or separated would be a big of a problem for men if she still is attractive.( I'm not necessarily thinking about the looks)

there is pressure from family to marry but I think that also depends on where you live. In the capital women are more independent.

I agree. One of my cousins is over 30 and single, and every time we have a family reunion my grandma is nagging her when is she going to get married. But aside from the pressure from the side of some family members, what would be the other problems for a single independent woman living in Poland? I can't think of any myself. :(

Life / The strangest things in Poland [468]

This time, for example, the newspapers in Poland encourage the readers to vote on the soccer player G. Rasiak - who has a chance to be named the best player of the second English soccer league.

Ahh yes, G. Rasiak.. Only Chuck Norris can score a goal with Rasiak in Fifa 2006 game. :)

But I think due to the nice Canadian nature Poles like it.

You can say that again. Watched few interesting programs about Canadian fauna and flora and it really did catch my attention. Maybe someday I will have the chance to visit your country. :)

Of course the crime rate is higher than in most (but not all) villages. All cities have their bad areas-London has plenty but it also has plenty of wonderful areas.Don't generalise.

Exactly! I felt quite safe while living in London. Never lived in Brixton, though. :)

UK, Ireland / Poles in UK claiming state benefit have cost the taxpayer 45M pounds [55]

At the current rate, even if they claim for only one child, the Polish applications alone will already have cost the taxpayer 45million pounds this year.

Interesting. But why do you think they didn't put the information how much Poles paid in to the system in that same period of time? Is it maybe because it would turn out that they have paid in in tax a lot more than actually took out from the system? :)

The revelation comes after a Mail on Sunday investigation found that some Polish parents were dumping their children in state orphanagesor with relatives to take up jobs in the UK.

Ahh yes, those nasty filthy greedy Poles would do anything for money. Even dump their own children in orphanages!! How I despise them! Uuuuuuuu... :)
But wait a minute, actually I have read an article about it few months ago in "Angora" paper here in Poland... It's very funny, because it turned out that there weren't "some Polish parents" but actually only one parent (a mother) that did it. What's even more funnier is that that woman lost her rights to that kid long before she went abroad to England, and that the journalists from the Mail on Sunday never even spoke with the people from the orphanage, where this kid was transferred after he was taken from his mother... That's not a thing that a proper journalist would do, now isn't it uk? :)

Oh, and one more thing before I go:

Why would you stress that the text underneath this article would be your comment? You've been posting on this board from some time now, and from my observations you never wrote one single sentence without any mistakes, not to mention a whole paragraph. Tut tut, you are a liar, Mr. uk. Shame on you! :)

I'm only fedup with poles cuz they do things which we don't like'

They work for example? :)
