Poles in UK claiming state benefit have cost the taxpayer 45M pounds

uk_ 8 | 85

Tens of thousands of Eastern European migrants living in Britain are exploiting a loophole in the law to claim UK child benefit for children they have left behind or living with them.

Migrant workers from new EU member states mostly from poles signing up in droves for the cash, funded by British taxpayers.

The Mail on Sunday has learned that more than 50,000 Poles have also applied for the handouts so far this year.

In Poland, parents do not have an automatic right to state benefits for their children. Even those payments which are available are strictly means-tested and very few people qualify.

At the current rate, even if they claim for only one child, the Polish applications alone will already have cost the taxpayer 45million pounds this year.

The revelation comes after a Mail on Sunday investigation found that some Polish parents were dumping their children in state orphanages or with relatives to take up jobs in the UK.

Now, Polish officials say that the weight of applications for UK child benefit has left the state agency dealing with the claims facing collapse.

"There's so many to deal with. In some cases whole villages have left to go and work abroad," said Beata Trybowska, of the Krakow branch of the agency responsible for processing the applications.

My comment:

Reading this I'm thinking to give up my job. I have worked from the day I left school but now I see no point in going out to work and supporting the whole world. I'm just thinking how nice it's going to be not having to get up in the freezing weather.

Yet another loophole that is being used to rip off the country!
The UK must be the laughing stock of the world. But you can bet when this country is bankrupt with all the money going out to support every migrant in Europe the very same people who we have let in will go back home. Close all borders now to stop the rot.

Mr Tony Blair, when you can spare us a moment of your time after your holidays, can you perhaps justify why we have to subsidise all of these immigrants at the expense of our own nationals? And perhaps you can assure us that we will not be subsidising the next huge wave of immigrants from the rest of Eastern Europe?

Many people in Ireland are beginning to get fed up with Poles. This week more than 50 people protested against the anti-social behaviour of members of the Polish community in Belfast. This anti-social behaviour includes noise, drunkenness, rubbish piled up in gardens, and too may people living in one house! The problem is made worse because many catholic Poles have moved into traditionally protestant areas of northern Ireland.

I'm going to double check this, interesting but dubious.
Remember the Dail mail, is not a newspaper it is a right wing propaganda machine.

I believe that this is also the case in Ireland, migrants from the EU were able/allowed to claim benefit for children left in their home country. It was actaully advertised widely and it was ok to do this. Part of the entitlements for paying taxes/working in Ireland.

The poster uk, used the N Ireland example ( not an Irish republic eg)...about complaints.....not sure how applicable it is, but doubtless there are instants where this happen...but it also applies to the local population.

Many people in Ireland are beginning to get fed up with Poles

I don't know what evidence there is for this, but there are bound to be strains when huge numbers move to a samll country.........160000 EE migrants into a 4 million population.

UK has maybe 600000....but 58 million pop.

If the same numbers were multiplied up...in real terms the UK would have taken ....2.3 million, compared to Ireland.........so Ireland has taken 14 times the number that the UK has!

ooohhh a juicy debate here guys :)

What gets me and i am 100% british born and raised is the traditionally upper and middle class society of this country wont get their heads from up their own arses. They think they rule the roost and anyone below them is like something they have trodden in whilst in the street. :)

Yes the government did not bank on the influx of polish people heading into this country but it didnt stop the same about of the older generation of polish people entering this country during the resettlement of the poles following WW2?????

To me a person is entitled to better themselves wherever they are from in the world and forgive me for saying this but many polish people come here and work for a couple of years to gain valuable learning experiences and to improve their understanding of the English Language. Many of the polish people here are between the main age group of 18-35 years old and most of these send much of their hand earned wages (yes you read right wages) home to their families as a way of saying thank you for your continued support here is my support to you.

Wages in Poland are typically lower than here in the UK but our wages werent that bloody brilliant a few years back before the government introduced the national minimum wage and to which they hike up each october by approx. 30pence if that!!!

The polish government has admitted that it would take their country at least a minimum of 10 years to have western wages in place.

If you want a rough idea of a typical wage in poland log onto the jobcentre plus website and then click to search jobs in poland then take any job take the wage amount showing and convert into GBP and that wage is for a 40 hour week not a 37.5 hour week like here in the UK for full time work.

Many polish people are quite skilled but majority are working in warehouses, distribution centres and factories --- and majority are employed via agencies to work, they are hard working individuals the polish (unlike the large % of the UK that like to sit on their arse for £90 approx jobseekers allowance) or the fatcats that do **** all but get paid X X X amount of stupid money.

They are puntual never late and nor do they like taking time of work for any reason (can a single british person admit that -- i put my hand up and say no!!) .... they are proud of their homes and have respect for their surroundings and that around them.

So before you go and jump on the band wagon and rip them apart maybe just maybe you ought to re:evaluate your pathetic little baised layned lives!!!!!

:)

Not anti-social like native N.I residents who only shot each other or blow each other up.
And as for religion, if people are dumb enough to believe in God then more fool them.

These people who spout racist s h i t about other WHITE people really make me cross.
Actually I read a very interest report by the OCED (institutue), that stated because of immigration into the UK it is keeping our economy competative and helping keep interest rates low. Perhaps Mr.UK would rather just let in non-Europeans.

I feel your pain UK... Nice honest words, keep up the good work. I think if there coming here to work its only fair that we go to poland and buy property. Then when the migrants return to their native homes with our cash we'll get it back by selling them houses that have doubled in value due to foriegn investment. sweeeeeeet:)

Could be. Why don't you tell local Poles what you think about them ? I could pay to watch that.

One more thing. I really don't want to hurt your feelings, but "sons of camels" are not really British and will never be.

My idea will never fail, i intend to take over the world i tell you. You just see if i don't. In fact its not just the migrants i want out its everyone. I'd like to turn England into a holiday resort for hunters. We could hunt cows and sheep, maybe with apache helicopters. I'm off to hatch a new cunning scheme now.... i'll be back

I'm working on my cunning scheme, just need to find some paper and coloured pencils to do the final details... Can't find a helicopter anywhere

there is something for you UK.
the articles title is:"cost of muslim immigration in europe"
here is the "british" part of it.enjoy it.

In Britain, the police have been investigating allegations that the four suspected London bombers from July 2005 collected more than £500,000 in benefits payments. The suspects are supposed to have used multiple aliases and addresses. One, Mr Ibrahim, is said to have had six aliases. Some are also shown to have claimed several nationalities, ages and national insurance numbers while in Britain. Investigators believe that bogus names were used to make some benefit claims. Two are also alleged to have obtained asylum using bogus passports and false names and nationalities. Mr Ibrahim, alleged to be the Hackney bus bomber, is believed to have used two dates of birth, six aliases, two national insurance numbers and two addresses. Mr Osman apparently went under five names, variously claimed that he was Eritrean or Somali, and used four addresses in southwest London. Mr Omar, 24, who is linked with the attack on a Tube train near Warren

Street, had five aliases.

The London Times quoted a report that expressed fears that Britain was "sleepwalking its way to apartheid" due to increased ethnic segregation. The paper, which took into account the background of the four July 7 suicide bombers who attacked London, pointed to social and economic deprivation as key drivers in their conversion to terrorism, ignoring the numerous calls for violent Jihad in the Koran and the hadith. It found that the Muslim community was the most "disadvantaged" faith group in the country, with lower educational attainment and higher unemployment. The document found that the unemployment rate among Britain's 1.6m Muslims was more than three times that of the general population and was the highest of all faith groups. About half of all Muslims were economically inactive (52%). That was higher than any other religious group.

DP111, an articulate British commentator at such websites as Jihad Watch, Little Green Footballs and Fjordman blog, points out that as Muslim families are very large, a single wage earner will find it hard to support all. They will need to supplement this by getting considerable benefits from the state. Thus at a minimum, "some 80% of the Muslim population" subsists on welfare benefits: "A considerable amount of this money to Muslims from the British taxpayer, finds its way to finance the Jihad. The same scenario must hold in all European states that have a considerable Muslim population." "We are in the ridiculous position of sheltering and feeding a population that is hell bent on destroying us. Islam's people, from the very outset, were nothing but a collective to gain plunder and loot at the expense of other people's work. In the past, it was conducted by war, conquest and then pillage. Now it is conducted by immigration (invasion), begging or crime. Meanwhile Muslim nations are given huge loans (aid), which we and they know will never be repaid. Thus, from a purely economic point of view, Islam seems to be a collective of people who live by the ethos of "beg, borrow or steal." So why do we, the capitalist countries, who do not believe in offering anyone a free lunch, subsidise the most lazy yet aggressive bunch of people on God's planet, who are bent on subverting our democratic system? The nub is, how has it come about, that the natural progression of the most advanced civilisation on earth is towards stupidity?"

He also points out that the cost of Muslim immigration is much higher than just welfare. "One really needs to factor the loss of confidence in the markets, loss of new investment because of a fear of flying or the disenchantment with intrusive security. Then there is the increased cost of insurance on all businesses." All this affects the competitivess of business with nations that do not have a significant Islamic presence, such as Japan, Korea and Taiwan. We may be talking of million dollars or more per Muslim individual per year. "And to top it all, we give them huge amounts of aid, welfare benefits on a grand

scale, while we live in fear, and our freedoms compromised."

Guys...isn't all this a little hysterical...repetitive....all the negative stuff printed to vilify ordinary Muslims?

Demonise them as were other races, groups.....during WWII......think of the horrific propaganda Germany heaped on the ordinary Jews in its country........

Naturally the masters of propaganda the UK secret services want to keep their jobs....all those imaginary plots etc............after all the Brazilian barrier jumper was absolutely definitely a tube bomber....wasn't he....?.....eeemmmm...no !...........actually

All of the malign items quoted in the articles have been going on in the UK for 30 plus years by different immigrant groups.......mostly due to inept government departments!

Picture this........early to mid seventies...bombs going off all over Britain.......innocent people killed.......to be Irish...and there were several million of them in GB...you were instantly a target...both by the state and any other member of society....how pleasant was that...?....only a few dozen guys with a cause...and EVERY Irish man was a terrorist?...........think about it!

So its not simple/clear............all I know is that government can be guaranteed to make virtually the wrong decision every time in dealing with the problem......and you complain about GW Bush?

In short, no, Frank.
You see, you are what every pro-active muslim loves. A broadly caucasian, christian liberal (mostly agreable rose tinted guy) who does their publicity stalling tactics for them. You are far from alone on this.

Frank, can I ask you a question? (go on then you say.. :) )

As a (Northern?) Irish citizen, do you experience the parallel existence where you live, between polarised communities? If the answer is yes with respect to cath's and prodies, then you should know better than to give such a naive view on the matter.

The guys above are dead right. It's not them you should be so concerned about! Know what I mean?

Hobbitual...so its ok at each and every hint of diversity/difference to discriminate, demonise attack and kill...innocent people?

If you say yes...then you're no better than the Nazis/Russian totalitarians.......

And here I was thinking that Polish people who feel so hard done by would understand this...identify with this.......

So who would like to attack/kill Hobbitual, because thats what you're advocating?

I have posted on the NI question before...I happen to live in a mixed religion area, son goes to an integrated school............so why do you slag me off as being naive?

They just don’t understand Frank, don’t be hurt by that, the ‘British isles’ are alien to most Poles, they don’t see the wood for the trees, although the racists are always very apparent here I notice.

Ola...missed my point....you were abused/slaughtered by two other nations...........ie Poland...by germany etc..........so why visit the same on a whole religion, based on the activities of 1-2%?...that was my point...

Be quiet and let him slagg us off for our willing to work and integrate while his mates are killing people on your Island?

Sure, slag away.....cos hes slagging you...but better off trying to ignore....becos its just plainly provocative......just to annoy.

As for aliases...as before..this has been going on for decades........not new..not only the country singled out......

Sw...not quite sure what you mean...British isles, merely a political description...one that now is perhaps...a bit non- PC!!

Hob...appears to be from the UK!!.....

Yes...people will espouse views on here that they wouldn't at work...or in public.....

quote post 45

I used he term ‘British isles’ in the way you took it- we can’t call it a United Kingdom, but we have to call it something while considering this is a forum to discuss Polish people and culture using the English language/

I think the British Isles would be more ‘politically correct’ in the context, and easier to type than England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland [and I know that’s the English, but that’s the forum rules]

So relax, understand that I empathise with your frustration, but trust me, 80% of Poles aren’t interested in the UK problems, they have their own- doesn’t hurt to mention ours, or correct their misunderstandings though
