Food / Pierogi with fruit filling? [30]

Try making your own, if you have a food processor this will make kneading the dough a hundred times easier! I think its fun, my mama and I do it together for Wigilia

Food / CORN SYRUP IN POLISH KIEŁBASA? [4]

Not corn syrup, no. My uncle makes his own sausage in Poland and he doesnt use sugar or corn syrup. I dont like kielbasa anyway (*gasp*!) but I'd say its not traditional or authentic if corn syrup is in it. Maybe as a preservative? Sounds no good.

:'( It's sunday today. He beats me again and even take a knife on my throat, he is warning me don't move stop crying..don't make any sound, his eye is so big, he seems like a bad guy not my husband anymore, he drag me from room to room and kick my hip.. I was begging him to calm down..he droped knife and slapped my face then run away from the home...

PLEASE LEAVE HIM AND GET HELP IMMEDIATELY! Contact the police and get as far away as possible!! Dont spend another minute with him, find a family member who can help you get away!! please please call the police, I'd hate for anything worse to happen!

Love / Polish family from Chojnice has stolen my son. [17]

Dont play dirty, it will get you nowhere except in trouble with the law.

As everyone asks, why havent you called the police? gotten a lawyer? Nobody on this forum is going to harass her family for a stranger. Did you fight for part-custody or visitation after the child was born? If you were not present for the child's birth and following 10 months, expressed no interest thus far in being a father (until you found out about this), then she has the right to allow her child to be raised by her parents. If you have been trying to see your son and she has deliberately hidden him from you, including the pregnancy and birth, then you may have something. I hope you contact the authorities and an attorney and this is settled in favor of what is best for your son! I hope everything works out!

Love / do polish girls consider a english man a good catch ? [126]

Silly question in the respect that nationality is not as important as personality! Last time I was in Kraków, the British men were so rude! I saw one throw a fit in a restaurant because they didnt have what HE wanted on the menu, and another one spit at my feet just because I was walking past him in the opposite direction. Again, for no reason. I know not all British men are this way, alot of Polish men can be rude too. I dont think your question can be legitimately answered, personally, I found Polish-American men to be very nice in my own experience!!

I think that all depends on your personality and the size of your sausage of course. lol

hahahaha! nice way of putting it...

Love / Age difference in our relationship. I'm 41, my girlfriend is 27. Common in Polska? [57]

To be honest I am quite flattered to say the least. As she pretty much has the pick of the bunch. That includes loads from her social group who are more in line with her age.

Looks like she picked you!!! As long as you are both honest and sincere, love is love! She is a grown woman, its not like she is barely 18, she is close to 30 now. By that time, such an age difference is not important. Best of luck to you both!

Do you think the age gap is so large that at some point differences will occur and it will be difficult to keep things going ? and also is age gaps in relationships more common than here over in poland ? thanks Mark.

You will see those kind of age differences over there as well.

Love / Boyfriend wants to move us to Poland but I don't speak Polish. [32]

I also want to study in cosmetician. Can this be a problem for a foreigner?

Here is my suggestion for you, study to be a cosmetician in whatever country you currently reside. Get your license and then if you move to Poland, enroll in a Polish for foreigners class. (unless for some reason you can't practice cosmotology in Poland with a license from UK...I wouldnt know anything about that) They have these classes I know in many cities, Krakow and Warsaw especially. (UJ and UW for sure) I know of some private tutors in Krakow (have not used them but know about them) if you will be in that area. I suggest highly to take a course and learn survival Polish, the rest will come later... You'll be immersed in it so you'll pick it up relatively quick. I suggest to visit first and then give it careful thought. Best of luck!!

polish is in the top 5 languages difficult to learn

1. Basque
2. Hungarian
3. Chinese
4. Polish
5. Japanese
6. Russian
7. German
8. Korean
9. English
10. Swahili

Who decided this list?? Anyone here ever try to learn Georgian? I think it should be on the list but I didn't write it.. I have no idea who did but I think its very relative depending on what language is your native language.

Life / WHY POLISH PEOPLE DON'T USE THEIR NATIVE FIRST NAME WHEN ABROAD? [136]

I don't think anyone is ashamed, I think we are generally being polite toward the English tongue which is unaccustomed to the Polish language. Not everyone does this, I think its personal preference and a bit rude to give someone a hard time in regard to what they choose to be addressed as.

Food / Why do Poles just not "understand" healthy eating ?? [82]

Sad that people have misconceptions of Polish food. When I stay with my family, we eat very healthy, mostly fresh vegetables and they never use lard, cream very sparingly once in awhile, barely ever. I know in Krakow now there are a lot of healthy choices and vegetarian restaurants as well.

Maybel Polish people don't have low fat, no salt & low sugar cook book yet. Most of receipes may not taste good.

I wouldnt be so sure of that, I bought some great vegetarian cookbooks on my last visit to Poland (po polsku, of course)
