History / Why communism failed in Poland? [275]

I think communism has not failed not only in Poland but also anywhere in the world.

Could you explain this to me, Please?.

new world economy system will be much better for us ordinary people, 99% of the world.

And what makes you think that communism, as in the form that was here in Poland, would make the world economy better?.

History / Why communism failed in Poland? [275]

Hello NomadatNet,

And welcome to the Polish forums.

As being an outsider (from Turkey) and being one been never been to Poland, you can consider I am not knowledgable about how communism worked in Poland. But, sometimes the less knowledge the more broaden view.

I don't know what to say, you have a more broad view because you know nothing about a subject?.
That makes no sence.

Life / 800 thousand Polish women are victims of domestic abuse yearly [180]

I can google if it you like?.
You are the one who studied law.
I just asked a question.
I did not know murder had to be premeditated.
So if you murder someone through negligence or accident, it goes under another category? such as manslaughter?.

Life / 800 thousand Polish women are victims of domestic abuse yearly [180]

Every year 800 thousand Polish women are victims of domestic abuse in their families.....according to data collected by women's organization Feminoteka.

Is this the amount reported to the police? or how do they come up with this figure?.

What is this figure like compared to other countries?.

News / Poland embraces new effort to fight anti-Semitism [138]

It is weird because in the time of need we seem to do very well as a team; when things are good, we revert to bickering and poor organization.

I know you are refering to Polish people but I think this applies to all humans.

Being an immigrant is tough in so many ways and it isn't for everyone. As the economy is not strong one can predict backlash against the new members of society. One one hand they are welcome, on the other they are resented. In any case they should be careful and behave well. They lack seniority.

I agree and I think most immigrants don't immigrate out of real choice.

The Jews were being persecuted throughout Europe and probably other places, when Poland took them in.
The Polish king at the time wanted their business and banking skills, I believe.

While the Poles have been invited to Ireland and some other E.U countries.
Polish people had the chance to get work and in many cases earn more than they did here in Poland.
While Ireland needed the work force.

i don't know if i am being too, black and white about this, it is a generalisation.
My point is, most people would prefer to stay at home, given the option.

News / Poland embraces new effort to fight anti-Semitism [138]

If Poles were outwitted in business, they should have organized better.

I agree, not just Poles of course.
But competition is healthy for the public.

I'm affraid with Poles there would be no agreement which family starts first. We are not exactly consensus people.

Solidarity,
You'd be surprised, Poland is changing as you know.
And there are some very clever entrepreneurs doing good business.

I keep thinking of that film "children of men" it is not a good film but basically there is a catastrophe and the government sets up "detention centres" and the first people "quarantined" were the immigrants.

News / Poland embraces new effort to fight anti-Semitism [138]

Certainly the Poles would like to make the 30% more like the Brits.

Fair point.

I do see a parallel still, Jews were invited into this country (Poland) and did not do anything illegal, like Poles now.
Jews lived here for hundreds of years in harmony and I can see now, with the recession/credit crunch, how easy it is for people to turn on the "Others".

(by others i mean people from one country, living in another, who were invited)
Imagine if there were people starving on the streets.
I can imagine people taking everything that the "Others" have worked for.
This is just a 30% pay reduction, I hope history doesn't repeat itself.

News / Poland embraces new effort to fight anti-Semitism [138]

other stores ( owned by Jews) lowered their prices so much that the poor guy went bankrupt in a months time. They couldn't stand it that a non Jew was making money and bringing competition. And thats how it was all over Poland in the big cites aspecially. So those people who think our anti-semitism (if u wanna call it that) is some crazy paranoia, need to read a lil' about REAL Polish history. Its our country, ethnic Poles, the founders and builders of that nation and you think we'll be ur dogs in our own land?? who do u think u are.

This 'logic' seems to be being applied today against Polish people undercutting locals.

Action threatened over Poles' pay
A union has threatened industrial action over claims that Polish workers on a Kent building site are being paid 30% less than the agreed rate.(click here).

What do any of you think about the comparison I am making?.

News / Some Poles burning American flag [299]

but it still remained, and will remain, as the EU.

What ever happened to the EEC which i think became the EC?.
i haven't heard anything about it for years.

So the EU is basically about industry and resources.

i thought that was the EEC (European Economic Community)?.

Genealogy / Glonski - Polish builder in Canada of RAF aircraft [3]

Hello Mr. Vacher,

Could you tell us more details.
I can only help by saying that the more details you give the higher the chance of finding out the information you seek.

Do you know if Mr. glonski, was first generation Polish in Canada?.
Can you post a photo of the signature?.
perhaps it says ....głonski?.

It is not a very popular name, according to my Polish friend, so that might make it easier to trace.

I am curious, why are you interested?.
(excuse me if I am being nosey).

Life / Is drinking water in Poland good? [96]

Is it true that people in Norway take fluoride tablets every day "for healthy teeth etc"?

Fluoride is poisonous in large amounts.
Toothpaste could seriously injure a child if swallowed in large amounts, that is why you spit it out.
London does not put fluoride into their tap water (hence the bad teeth;)
But they do put fluoride in the water in Ireland.
I think that is the reason i have never had a problem with my teeth, no fillings, no nothing.

Life / Controversy about funshops with recreational drugs in Poland [50]

Great post.
there are other more pressing matters.
Sure enough, research needs to be done in to the effects, (Cheech and Chong sytle :)
But the word "Drugs" has gotten a bad wrap,

merriam-webster.com/dictionary/drug

I mean that is everything from bad neurological and physically addictive to to substances that could save your life and everything in between.

One very curious thing about drugs is that you produce ALL of these drugs naturally, that is why they have an effect.

Life / Controversy about funshops with recreational drugs in Poland [50]

What is the legal situation with funshops in other countries of EU?

If it isn't illegal you can sell it.

Different countries have different regulations.

Although some of these drugs are a little strong, I would just like to point out that caffeine nicotine and alcohol are also widely exceptable drugs, there are many drugs we use on a day to day basis.

These shops are not selling class "A", "B" or "C" harmful and addictive drugs acording to the law.

Travel / Tatry Mountains Poland / First Snow [29]

Great snowing conditions in the Tatras now.
I was skiing today and I am going again tomorrow (35PLN 24Hrs).
There is a metre of snow in Zakopane, it is going to last a long time.

It was the best conditions for skiing this winter for me today.
And I was using the ramps and half pipe thing, well it isn't a half pipe but half a half pipe but not a quarter pipe, it is only on one side and curves around, it is excellent for stopping, you go around almost horizontal, it is the beez kneezz.

Life / Homosexuals in Poland / Hands off (PETITION) [797]

I agree with what you said until this.

they happen to be one of the nicest people nothing wrong with them.

Sexuality is not a character trait, it does not determine if the person is nice or not.

Maybe I am just being picky, when you are just defending.
