Love / do polish women make good wives as opposed to their western counter part? [29]

they love to cook , clean look after the children, make sure supper is ready for the family.

Yup. Did all that. Plus worked 40 hours a week. Nursed the baby. Did the laundry. Took care of the horses, emus, dogs and other creatures. Did too much.

That's why he divorced me.

Love / Polish blonds are so beautiful [99]

Should I die my hair blond to satisfy guys who like blonds, or should I circumsize myself for women who like circumsized men.
Oooops, I'm not a man.
Scratch that theory.

News / The most useless things in Poland [140]

Yeah, this tax thing is stupid. You don't pay taxes on groceries. You can buy a raw chicken and bake it at home, but if you buy a baked chicken in the deli, you have to pay taxes on it. Figure it out.

You boil pierogi in salted water for about 4-5 minutes. Unless you have allready done that before freezing, which you didn't have to....

Love / How to go about dating a polish girfriend? [27]

I am sure there is this element in all nationalities to a degree, but after being taken in by a polish girl myself,i will never take that risk again.

Sorry to hear that, but I know it's true because my brother met several of them in Poland and all they were interested was money.

But not all are like that. There are these decent, down-to-earth honest Polish girls who wouldn't take a penny from anyone if she feels she didn't deserve it. Unfortunately it's only about 1% of the population. And I'm the one....:)

Travel / Is Wroclaw the best city in Poland? [30]

Depends what interests you. Been to Wrocław lots of times, love the architecture but grew up mainly in Kraków, feel more at home there, so I prefer Kraków also. Just like polishgirltx :)

USA, Canada / American-Polish families keep talking about Poland... [6]

Many immigrants from Poland in my area. Just talked to a teacher who went to Jagielonian University in Krakow, she said when she was there in 1980's during the martial law, the people didn't have much, lines everywhere, food was rationed, yet when she visited family they gave her the best meats they could find. They didn't have enough for themselves, but that's how Poles are, very hospitable.

They say: "Gość w domu, Bóg w domu" - a guest in the house is God in the house

Love / Dh (my husband) is not taking news well.. [12]

He was just shocked. Good.
Many Polish Catholics say children are holy, they are miracles so I'm sure his family would understand if you don't come. But this is your life, your child, your family. Don't listen to what others think, but what you want.

Besides, that's the best thing that could happen to your other child too, to have a brother or a sister.
That's cool! Congratulations!

USA, Canada / Any one going from Poland to US in January? [15]

Did your need to be micro chipped?

No. That is only required when you travel in Europe.
But they did have tattoos, which your breeder will probably have put on him.
I was with the pups until it was time to leave, then they were put in a special cargo department on the plane.
But you have to cantact the airlines you wish to use to see if they will accept dogs in January.

Life / Do Poles believe in supernatural stories? [14]

I heard lots of these stores from my Philippino friend, whose grandmother was 'the wise woman' in one of the mountain villages. Awsome stuff.

My best friend's mother came from the Phillipines and she always tells us not to go to haunted cemeteries, because we're disturbing the dead.

We do anyway....

USA, Canada / Any one going from Poland to US in January? [15]

krysia? Did you travel with your dog or did you have it sent "cargo"...by himself?

A dog is allowed in a cabin only if it is under 8 kilo. Mine were in the cargo unit because there were 2 together and they were heavy. Depending what airline you chose, there are different rules. The best one would be LOT or another one that goes direct to US.

Leonbergers are big, so he might have to fly cargo if over 8 kilo.

Is that the one that eats the chickens?

Haha, not only. He ate my rabbits and ducks and rooster and chickens. He's got a big kennel now where he can't get to them. He was fed raw meat as a puppy by the breeder in Poland, something you shouldn't do to a German Shepherd because they have that taste of blood...

złoty is Polish currency and they weigh the kennel at the airport and charge by the weight, so it might be less 400 złoty which would be around $150.

You should call the airlines and ask if they will ship a dog. Winters in Poland are similair to Detroit.

USA, Canada / Any one going from Poland to US in January? [15]

What kind of dog you getting?
Here is some information:
1.The pup has to be at least 8 weeks old.
2.Needs a vet certificate that the pup is healthy.
3.Needs puppy shots.
4.Needs rabies shots, but those are not given to pups under 3 months old. So if a pup is under that age, you will have to sign a paper in US at the Agriculture Department at the airport that you will give him the rabies shots.

5.He has to have a ticket. Around 400 zl.
6.He needs to be in an airline approved kennel
7.He can be put on the plane in Poland by the seller who needs to have the paperwork and you can pick him up.
8.Airlines sometimes don't allow dogs in January as they are put the carriage department under the plane and it gets very cold.
9.You have to notify the airlines ahead of time before the dog gets on
10.If you have any other questions, please ask me.
Thank you.

News / How does Poland imagine other countries see her? [84]

Does that mean all Americans are thieves?

I'm generalizing lef. You're right. There are greedy thiefs everywhere. But living in Poland and in Us I noticed some differences. They use bribes more in Poland.

Kids cheat in Polish schools, in US they can expell and punish such students.
You bribe Polish professors to accept a student. Bribing in some US jobs is illegal.
Money talks.

But Americans are happy, they have a different attitude towards life than Poles, are more relaxed, don't try to cheat in everything as they do in Poland, where everyone is more tense and nervous. Americans are more advanced in medical technology and space exploration. They are more honest than they are in Poland.

Take the US Postal Service for example. If a mail carrier was caught stealing mail, the punishment is very severe, loss of job, arrest, big fine and their name is known as a fraud forever. In Poland stealing mail is common, specially during christmas, when Americans send money in cards. Sometimes they get the card, but with no money, or the open mail is found in a ditch. And although Polish Postal service does punish these carriers, it is not severe enough of an offense and it continues to be a problem.

USA, Canada / Roads and Driving rules in Poland versus America [63]

Rondo, haha. They put rondos in Poland to make it cheaper by not installing traffic lights and because Poles don't always stop an a stop sign, specially when drunk. There are rondos everywhere in Poland and they keep building new ones.
