I've heard girls speaking very soft and rather quiet.

Good point. Women continue to speak in a normal tone and softly. It's hard to keep up with men. I feel like I'm yelling. No voice the next day. Throughout this, men do continue to be polite to women. Generalization.

Polish is very passionate, expressive, and loud. It does sound like arguing and yelling. You have to be amped up to be heard or to get in a word. Frustrating due to the interrupting. Add Vodka, and every other word is Kurwas. Extremely, animated. One could do stand up. I've laughed so hard watching stories being told because the teller acts out everything. Hysterical.

Bottom line: The Bride and Groom have invited you as GUESTS. There is no stipulation as to a gift. Use your own guidelines and common sense. Weddings are either traditional or not. Depends, on the wedding your going to? What are the traditions in Poland?

Is this a true Polish Custom to give money? Money is typically given by immediate family only in my experience. A registry is usually established with the couples needs. This eliminates the 10 Fondue Sets. The couple establishes their needs of China, Silver, down to linens.

Yes you should. I just checked with a very good (Polish) real estate lawyer and the advice is that a gift of property before the death of the giftor can not be challenged after their death by any of the necessary heirs.

Thank you. This is definately what I want to be done. Tata set it up a will in June. I would prefer to take care of Estate transfer now. Past experience, nightmare later. Now, a new roof and maintenance needs to be taken care of. If I will be paying into the home, other options need to be secured.

That's excellent news for the OP. We wanted to spend money developing the "family home", which I was unwilling to do if I would then have to pay inheritance tax on it. So we had the parents gift it to us several years ago (although it ended up being their suggestion, so that worked out best).

Thanks, your situation is very similiar to mine now. It appears we will be having work done on the 'family home'. Quotes are being sought. We trust and love each other. That would delete the inheritance tax..

No its not, the movie is a lie glorifying a bunch of thugs and murderers.

Worthless information unless you want to argue that teaching your kids how to survive as a Jew in WW2 has some merit in everyday life.

Kids should be educated about history and WWII. I didn't deem it worthwhile or worthless. Merely stated the concept of the story. I didn't go into the Politics of the Bielski Brothers.

I did state that it was about vegeance. Yes, Murder was involved. It does make you question what individuals and a group will due for survival. Do you wonder if it's your last day or due you try to survive? Can you live with what you don't condone and commit the same atrocities?

Recently, just watched Defiance. Yes, it is controversial, but it does provide an insight into the survival of Jews. Fascinating true story. It's an epic of family, honor, vengeance and salvation.

so anyone who is excluded or gets less than an even share in a will can demand that the remainder of the inheritors pay compensation of 50% of what he/she didn't get - it's called "zachówek".

Next question: Does it count that his brother received a home already while he was still alive? He has documented to attorney that my husband still lives there? We want to keep the family home and not sell it. His brother on the other hand, will only care about selling it and the money. We told Tata we don't want to deal with it one way or the other after he's gone. We would prefer to know now. His brother is so disrespectful and could care less about his father. My grandfather started distributing who he wanted to have real estate and investments while he was alive. I told my husband that maybe we should have him give/by it now to avoid problems later.

Once in the US, (if you want to put it in the bank), deposit under 10k, otherwise it is automatically reported.
Personally, I'm a cash person. Nothing illegal, but I like my privacy..!
Funny story: I like keeping hundred dollar bills. I fold them in half until I have a 1k and just keep going.. I literally, did it until I had 100k. I wanted to buy some real estate. I went to my mortgage broker and I jokingly told her I had this money under my mattress. "Mattress Money"....

I'll drink to that..Good music.. Love Live Music! Chicago monapolis of Poles in US, we're only (last count) 3-4k strong. The best we have our party's at the Polish Home. May have to make a trip to Chicago. Better yet, soon I'm going to Poland, but I want to see More Polski in US. (That's are biggest importer) for ZWIEC and etc. We're small, but STRONG!

Its called "na raty"...

If one has been smart with money and not living on credit, doubt the na raty.. People
that have money usually know the value of money and how to use it wisely. They
probably can live on half, but actually are capable and have the means to spend more.
Security with money is the best. It is interesting to hear the varying costs of living.
Should atleast, get an average depending upon where you live and life style and overall,
plan.

I need it to put it in the cover of my research... so it needs to be something that you can design...

***IDEAS: 1ST BRAIN STORM- WITHOUT STOPPING OR ANALYZING- take all symbolism of Poland and write, sketch as many ideas as possible.
Next: intuitively focus on your objective of project and rely on what you gravitate towards. Don't limit yourself to 'placing value one over the other.' Although, you feel your placing importance over another-your not- and that makes your project limited.

You've stated your leaning toward Syrenka/Mermaid? Will that capture the Polish Spirit?
Focus on what Poles truly stand for..Good Luck..Would love to see finished Design!
