UK, Ireland / Any poles here who live in north west of England ? [49]

Nothing but love for ya Bart.

Well, thank you, everybody deserves to be loved (:

I don't have any reasons to be worried. I'm so skinny that I'm almost invisible (people seem not to notice me in the streets).

You do realise the entire Scottish nation has just taken out a fatwah on you for calling them English :)

Surely not Gers' supporters :D

Language / Uses of otóż and lecz [5]

otóż

It is a word that can be used for stressing your expression, and such like Eurola wrote, it may be translated as 'well', 'so'. Therefore you can say either:

Otóż kiedyś na spotkaniu z policją padło słowo........

or: 'Kiedyś na spotkaniu z policją padło słowo....' and the essence will be exactly the same, but in the first example you will stress the fact.

Life / How much do you HATE POLISH PEOPLE and POLAND [1260]

I'm a Pole myself, so I don't think so. If I were a foreigner (especially a Western European or American), I can bet you a bottle of a decent malt, people's attitude would be much better.

I didnt notice any changes for worse.

But I never said that. It's just sad that people change so slowly for better.

Where were you btw?

In the south-western Poland. Some people are really nice and helpful, some just ignore you or are rude. I don't understand that, especially when you're someone who spends (or wants to spend) lots of money as a tourist or hotel guest.

are you sure you didn't go to Russia and not Poland?? :) that sounds like Russia, a communist nation living under the name of 'democracy'

I'm pretty sure I was in Poland :/ Although some people didn't seem to understand the meaning of words such like 'Good morning', 'Thank you' or 'Good bye'.

Can't be bothered. I'm gonna keep it to myself. All I'm going to tell is that the level of chamstwo (coarse behaviour) hasn't changed much since the fall of communism.

I returned from my holiday in Poland a few days ago. I wanted to see some other places, but next time I'm going to Switzerland or elsewhere. I'll never spend my holiday in Poland again.

UK, Ireland / British taxpayers pay homeless Polish to go home. [184]

Inflation will rise due to the shortage of housing which will increase bank of england interest rates. And the huge amount of money taking out of the uk by poles and sent back home. The poles filling labour shortages will only keep inflation low fo a short time. In the long run it will cos the uk ta payer.

So are you suggesting that Poles don't pay taxes ? I can be not a British citizen, but I'm certainly a BRITISH TAXPAYER.
And I've been watching TV today and I've red 'The Independent' as well, and there wasn't A WORD mentioned about negative impact of sending money abroad by Poles on property prices. Rather easiness of getting a mortgage. And are you so naive that you think that only Poles send their savings home ? Millions of pounds are sent elsewhere to Europe and to Africa and Asia as well.

But you didn't send it to Poland! But no problem, I can give you my bank account number :D

No. I didn't have to. My Old Folks are doing quite well.

Love / Do Polish women date Polish men? [16]

"Do they have polar bears in Poland?"

As well as pole dancers, shoe polish, bargepoles, poles (for impaling infidels, heheh), and, surprisingly, some Poles too.

Life / Polish legal drinking and smoking laws [7]

Davey, you don't have to worry, if you're attending a party, nobody will ask you for your age, you _should_ be at least 18 to buy ciggys and booze, but if you look mature then sellers won't ask you for an ID, you probably won't have to go to church, because I suppose the people you'll be with won't expect you to go with them (if they go to services at all).

News / Poland's Growth Fastest in 10 Years [95]

Of course they do. The world powers like the USA, the UK, France etc. wouldn't be where they are without cheap, silent, foreign workforce.

UK, Ireland / Change my mind about poles in the uk [42]

I am also aware that there is a strong national socialist movement in poland (which contradicts history as the nazis despised slavs as subhuman).

Your whole ''National Socialist' movement is a bunch of poorly organized groups of screamers. By statements like these you just reveal that you don't know nothing about politics in Poland.
