Travel / The best holiday destination in Poland? [34]

But do you have any places (accommodations) to recommend staying, Goonie? Just trying to help out fellow travellers! :)

The reason I bring this up is because many foreign travellers have not been to any part of Poland, and I think the more info given about a place (ie: nearby sights, night life and accommodations) the easier it is for someone to choose a spot to travel to. :)

Travel / The best holiday destination in Poland? [34]

Go to mokwy.com, MND. That's where I'll be staying in August! Very close to the beach and hotspots and reasonably priced!

Love / Are all Polish girls skinny? [85]

Quoting: BornInTheUSA
Not in the least - but back up a bit and let's be sure about this... ;)

I'm not at all anorexic, nor over-weight for that matter.

I think perhaps he replied like that, beckski, because he wants to see more of you.....there is no way to tell from your photo whether you are skinny or not....it's just a facial shot.

Travel / Changing Poland [75]

No they are not fake. You will be greeted and thanked for purchase you made. But once :)

That's what I usually experience in the US....I'm greeted once and then thanked for my business.....I always say thank you to a sales person, be it a waiter/waitress, cashier/checkout person and it's not fake....I truly appreciate people in the service industry....I was taught it's polite to acknowledge people and to ignore them is just plain rude.

News / A thought on Poland! [140]

The fact remains that the Germans and Polish people will never trust each other and in many cases still hate each other.

(People learn to hate and be prejudice....it's not something we are born with)

You have some choice in what you do with those feelings. Focus on hate and anger, and they will grow. Focus on life, and you move forward.
Excellent Point!!!!!

(I have to add this: I wasted one year of my life being angry and bitter at something someone had done. I was consumed. It made me physically sick. Then one day I realized it was only me who was keeping myself locked in the anger. I was the one who suffered by being angry/bitter. I will not ever do that again.)

As I think we all, to some degree have let anger get the best of us during some point in our lives (been there myself and know too well that physical sickness it produces).....Glad you learned a valuable life lesson, SG.....just wish everyone could (for their own happiness and sanity).

Love / Want a female point of view on behaviour [14]

I can say I am dating a Polish girl, but that is not to say she is any different than any other girl as it seems to run in most of them I have had relationships with

As you said, you are dating a "girl" or have dated "girls". Have you ever dated a woman who truly knows what she wants? I'll admit, back in the days of my youth, I was very fickle....hot one minute, cold the next.....it was about control and game playing.....as one matures, they realize the games get boring and want to actually have a mature relationship of sharing and not just one giving and the other taking.....

What I can't understand is the more I "profess" my love, the more she takes it for granted and seems to say it less her self. When I try to be less forthcoming, she takes it as a reason to be insucure or upset.

As I see it, this is playing games......when people are mature adults, they can express their love for one another without playing games (which is what you are doing....telling her how you feel, then witholding your feelings as a form of control and/or fear). Also, we can tell someone every hour we love them, but as the old cliche goes, "Actions speak far louder than words." Maybe check your own motives and actions and see if they jive with your words. If you are being honest with your feelings for her, and she's not responding the way you would like, then maybe it's time to rethink the relationship.....:)

UK, Ireland / Anybody knows how to watch Polish channels in UK? [36]

I think he's being sarcastic, because you did not thank him for the information he gave you, concerning your original question. It's usually the polite thing to do (thank someone) when they have taken the time to answer your question.

USA, Canada / Advice for Polish girlfriend getting tourist visa to visit America? [45]

Is it possible for a Polish citizen to apply for a visa from England ???

You can apply at the Polish Embassy in England for a visa, but it would be as a Polish Citizen.....I think that's what you are asking? I also don't know how quickly you would be able to get one, considering it's already summer. Good luck, though. :)

***edited***thanks Krysia for pointing out that she needs to go to Polish and not American embassy***:)

Crude Oil and Total Petroleum Imports Top 15 Countries
April 2007 Import Highlights: Released on June 11, 2007
Preliminary monthly data on the origins of crude oil imports in April 2007 has been released and it shows that three countries have each exported more than 1.40 million barrels per day to the United States. Including those countries, a total of four countries exported over 1.00 million barrels per day of crude oil to the United States (see table below). The top five exporting countries accounted for 68 percent of United States crude oil imports in March while the top ten sources accounted for approximately 88 percent of all U.S. crude oil imports. The top sources of US crude oil imports for April were Canada (1.909 million barrels per day), Mexico (1.460 million barrels per day), Saudi Arabia (1.458 million barrels per day), Venezuela (1.182 million barrels per day), and Nigeria (0.891 million barrels per day). The rest of the top ten sources, in order, were Iraq (0.562 million barrels per day), Algeria (0.530 million barrels per day), Angola (0.514 million barrels per day), Russia (0.269 million barrels per day), and Brazil (0.175 million barrels per day). News / EU or America - which country is better to work now? [56]

Bravo Mr.FISZ - And you & your mates were giving lectures to me about "stereotypes". I find your statements downright disgusting; do you mean to say that educated & professional mexicans don't exist in America?

I can't speak for Fisz, and unfortunately he won't be around for a while to defend himself, but I think it has been established that stereotypes have some validity to them. That being said, perhaps Fisz' only experience has been with illegal aliens (it's usually the illegal ones that do these jobs). I live in a city with a high population of hispanics, some are legal and some are not.....most are just wanting to live a better life in relative peace and make enough money to care for their families here and in their homeland.

you go on to insult the dishwashers & landscapers by implying that you don't need a brain to do those jobs.

I must say, I did find his wording to be somewhat offensive.....I have more respect for the person who holds down an honest job like dishwashing, fast food cooking, or manual labouring than a thug who steals from others or sells drugs to kids, all to line their own pockets. It's not just immigrants or illegals that hold these positions, it's our children learning some responsibility or the single mom or dad taking on extra work to help make ends meet. I have been very fortunate and am extremely grateful for the opportunities I have had in my life.....I even worked at McDonalds during the summer between high school and college.....I didn't like the work at the time, but I am grateful for the responsibility that it taught me.
