UK, Ireland / Flooding in Northern England [74]

I seriously would like to offer some kind of aid.....if someone could fill me in.

You are really sweet, but insurance will cover it and in many cases people will end up with better than they had before (if they have a good loss assessor)

UK, Ireland / Manchester - Question - living standard for Polish migrants. [29]

Do you have to pay for parking lot in the city center if Yes how much average? And do you have to pay for parking you car infront of the house You live in?

Parking in the city centre is about £7 perday, parking in front of your house is free.

You'll like Manchester, lots of lovely parks and close to the Lake District and not too far from the Peak District if you like walking.

Public transport is good and traffic can be quite bad getting in to the city (early start and late finish stops this problem though).

Manchester has a lot to offer, hence the reason a lot of people from the south are moving here. Ive lived here all my life and love my city and very proud of it.

UK, Ireland / Manchester - Question - living standard for Polish migrants. [29]

There are area's just out of the City Centre which aren't the best of places. I don't want to name them as I do not wish to offend anyone.

Regen, LIR, good places to buy.

I dont think will happen in Manchester anyway stay out of trouble in the end you are a guest there so try to keep a low profile .

The chances of him getting beaten are just the same as anyone else, M/c isnt a violent city and its got a large Polish community, so I dont think him being Polish will cause him any problems whatsoever.

Places like Prestwich (as I have said on other threads) is a nice area so is Whitefield, so is Simister Village.

Also some very good catholic schools in the Prestwich area if you are coming with a family

Please feel free to mail me if you want any advice.

UK, Ireland / Reasonable to move from Leeds to London? [10]

I noticed some of the City Centre apartments were becoming quite pricey now ?

You can get a 2 bed both en suite for about 175K in the city centre, what could you get in London for that?

I dont really like South M/c so prices over there would never bother me.

You can get a nice 3 bed semi for about £150K in Prestwich which is a nice area...so you get a lot more for your money in nice locations.

Hasn't changed that much

Didnt you notice all the bars, apartments and offices that have gone up, M/c is a just a large construction site with loads of news bars and the end result will be amazing...

UK, Ireland / Reasonable to move from Leeds to London? [10]

Amathyst, where are you live then ?

I live in Manchester. There is a boom in the construction industry so your profession is in great demand, property prices are within the grasp of a mere mortal, unlike London..

Just have a look at this web site and see the ratio of jobs in M/c to London, also you will see that the salaries in Manchester are comparable to those in London.

Feel free to mail me if you want any more information, I worked for a Engineering consultancy for a few years so know the various different companies in Manchester.

News / GERMAN NEWSPAPER DEFENDS POLAND, KACZYNSKIS - BRAVO GERMANS! [99]

Shopgal, I thought you were ignoring me, and being snappy re some previous remarks. Besides you chatted with that nazi nincompoop... Therefore I didn't dare. Warmest hello. Real nice to talk to you again.

Why are you being such an ass? you make out that we all hate Poland and that Polish people are misteated in England..the reality of it is that Polish people in the main are doing well in the UK and like it here...there are a few news stories that say otherwise and this is what you read, I think you are an okay guy but you have issues with your own country and the fact people leave in their droves...people dont hate Poland or Polish people, you are not that important, and thats not a put down its the truth, Poland is just another country;

Travel / Polish Airports and Air industry are pathetic [32]

Hey hold on folkes, it wasnt long ago that you went through a porta cabin at Liverpool airport when you got off the flight

Has anyone ever flown into Bradford? which is rubbish

Blackpool - shocking

lets think about the state of some of our own airports before we start slinging mud

slowly slowly thing will change in Poland Im sure - I can honestly say its not really bothered me, less places to spend money :) unlike Manchester.

News / Abortion - how is the Polish government going to deal with this issue? [273]

I think finding the person you know you will spend the rest of your life with is important, marriage is just a piece of paper (I know too many friend that have been divorced to believe that this is the perfect way of life), what is important is committment and love.

Abortion has been around for a long time, its just missused these days, an easy option for careless people.
