What about the exploitation of us poor Brits working in Poland...My last job as a truck driver ended without any explanation after six months , just as i was about to get a contract....Unlike the Polish drivers , i not only drove a truck all hours , but also worked all day in the wharehouse loading up trucks and unloading containers full of doors....did i get double the wages of the Polish drivers ...err no , did i get the same...not quite , i actually got half of what the Polish drivers were paid...

Currently i am working in a wood mill loading logs into bags...working from 7am untill three every day doing backbreaking work i got the huge sum of 230 zloty for last month.... there is no basic wage , you get paid for each bag filled......no wonder Polish peeps go the the UK.....might join em....?

Hi Sean...how the hell are you.....I have been awol for a good time , but maybe now time to return..? To cut a long story short...( ha) i recently got in touch with my ex girlfriend , re our son of 28 years of age whom i have never met....I was pleased to discover he is a biker like myself , and also an expert in falconry...The spooky bit is....He has a Polish girlfriend who it seems is also an expert in Falconry and is well known in Poland , her name is Alicja....She is from the north of Poland i am told....I just thought it would be nice to know something about my newly aquired family....

Well , i travelled by train from Koszalin to Gdansk , and was pleasantly suprised to be offered beer and vodka by my travelling companions , and we smoked too...one of the guys was even smoking some rather naughty weed....not at all like British rail i thinks to myself....I arrived in Gdansk pleasantly out of it.....

Yeah....for all the trouble it takes to get petrol out of a car , and the risk of being caught....you would think it easier to steal the whole car....At one time people used to steal nice wheels from a car , but soon changed to stealing the whole car , removing the wheels , and other bits they wanted , and dumping the rest.....

Has it occured to you Dnz that there might be a reason why petrol was removed without any sign of the petrol cap being tampered with....i mean , you would think a theif would just rip the petrol cap open with a crow bar , but these people were carefull not to damage the car... could it be that somebody you know in the area is doing this , somebody who hopes you will not notice the huge fuel loss , and will continue to supply them with free fuel....?

Err... well wherever he lives in Poland its quite possible that the petrol was stolen by Polish people...and even if it wasn,t Polish people , it happened in Poland , so i suppose it does have some relavence to a forum about Poland....

I always thought that stealing fuel from cars had kinda died out with almost every one having a locking fuel cap , and various blocks in the fuel pipe to stop people putting a siphon tube in there....

I suppose anyone with mechanical knowledge could figure out a way to get into the fuel system from below , but not without jacking the car up i would think , especially on a low slung model like a Bmw....

Does your car not have an alarm that would go off if the car were moved or tilted....? If it hasn,t , then its a case of waiting up all night to catch em , could be dodgy if there is a gang of em , or finding another parking place....

Yeah i thought people were a bit harsh.... There was a time not so many years ago when i was enquiring of Polish friends about how available fuel was in Poland before i came here for the first time on my way to Russia.....

I wasn,t expecting everyone to be riding around in a horse and cart , but never having been here , i had no idea if there were plenty of garages on the roads , and were they open 24 hours a day.....

For years and years we were told that the people the other side of the Berlin wall were evil communists who were not at all like us in the west , and who had none of the things we took for granted....so its not suprising that we are a little ignorant of the true facts about Poland and the east..... It is of course a nice suprise for those of us brave enough to visit the evil east , and discover a lovely country , with great people........ I wound up staying here.....

Hi Tris....its been a while since i drove into Russia , actually 1997 and 1998 , in those days they did not accept any western insurance , and you bought cover for the time you were in Russia at a small office at or near the border.....

Quite often the price seems to depend on how much they think they can get out of you , but its still cheap by western standards....

I am not sure if the petrol stations sell the insurance , but i am sure the small wooden sheds that were there in my days in Russia will still be there , and will be happy to sell you insurance......

Maybe somebody who has visited Russia more recently can inform you better..... have a nice trip....

If you are travelling from an airport in Berlin there are some quite cheap taxi buses ( minibuses ) that go to Szczecin , will drop you off at the station , or anywhere on route if you ask....The fare should be negotiated when you get on....Last time i used one it was about 16 quid for the journey , but i think it depends on how far in advance you book it.... I think the company i used was called Berlin express.....
