PD, I was here: onet.pl

The TV showed hospital pictures of those being treated. Among them was a very young child covered in bandages. It makes you think.

Fire in hostel in north west Poland kills 21.

As one might expect... this is the only news story today on Polish TV.
The pictures showed a terrible fire and unfortunately the list of dead may grow.

Love / Need help in relationship with a Polish man [33]

he needs to speak to people in small amounts... to build up his confidence... then he may want to learn more... which will make it easier for you.

with letters/text... have him try to translate it first... then offer to help him out... praise the good... don't mention the bad.

Love / SOS!! I feel a little hopeless with my Polish husband... [58]

Ignoring my existence.

He is not addicted to the computer. He is using it as an escape route for whatever failings he has.
Is he happy at work ?
Does he have friends ?

Sooner or later you will turn to someone else. Then he will learn his lesson.

News / Problem getting Polish TV by satellite [14]

FTA reception

I would have thought that the number of FTA channels would be limited. That is, if you are looking for a particular language.

What's wrong with a normal TV system ? Do you want programmes in a specific language ?

Life / Ideas for gift for my Polish gf that will assist with learning English. [12]

Also she will be taking her masters degree in European law/relations and integration next term and will be living with me permanently in the UK and working, so she's very eager to perfect her English.

Buy a book that will help with understanding English law.

I mean a book for foreign students... A mixture of English Language learning and set legal phrases.

Work / I have a "zero" chance to succeed in Poland - I do not have a degree! [93]

Not because I was not competent but because I grew sick and tired of being ridiculed by co-workers for not having what? - A degree!

There is a strange mindset that a degree is essential and you are no-one without one.

But of course not everyone has one.

History / Taras Bulba - the movie [115]

Then you should watch the film. And I wont recommend to others.

I'll watch the film because the story interests me. I'll form an opinion about it when I've seen it.

Love / My polish ex threatens to commit suicide after separation [62]

I don't want people to get any ideas that it's harmless to cut your wrist.

A longitudinal incision of the radial artery from the proximal to distal part of the forearm will minimize the vasoconstriction and give an extreme increase of the area where it can bleed from. I would say a few minutes before you get unconscious if it's done properly. Transverse incisions are not immediately life-threatening.

Interesting. I have had to deal with two episodes of cut wrists. The first (an accident) was with cut tendons, but not severed main artery. There seemed to be minimal blood loss, because of shock and fast application of first aid. Result: an immediate operation to fix the tendons.

The second was caused by jagged metal (a broken coke can) Blood everywhere, especially on another guy's coat. It happened in a London street. Result: Police (at first) jumping to conclusions. Young woman hospitalized.

Love / Questions about Polish women [17]

I hear college is limited for the few in Poland. Is this true?

This is not so.

The rest of the points get the usual answer. All people are different... one can't generalize.

not true.

True. To cut your wrists correctly one needs to sever the tendons. If you manage this with the first cut then switching hands is impossible because you have no grip.

so i've been told.
