USA, Canada / Why would someone leave Poland for the US? [120]

Who writes the gratest textbooks, who's the leader in science if not the Americans?

Germans.

With that kind of approach I strongly doubt that you'd feel comfortable in the US. Considering that I lived in the most educated city in the US I anyway felt how uneducated they were comparing to... well... Russians (not that I'm hooray-patriot but I can't compare to any other nation).

"Life in Poland remains swimming in pudding - it's possible but every move takes two times more energy".

Nice words... but you never know how many moves you in fact need to feel comfortable, to feel that you live. Yes everybody in the US has a car (unlike to Russia), you can feed a couple Africaes with their thanksgiving leftovers but on the other hand you could find all these not challenging... artificial, unnatural.

Finally there're lots of pros and cons.Your right to choose... :)

History / Mass Grave in Malbork [34]

That's Russians for you. And they still wonder why the rest of Europe considers them semi-civilised barbarians....

Have you ever smiled or been kind to any people?

Another mass grave found, but this time the victims are German... look slike the work of the Red Army.

Guess why there's no info about mass graves of Russians (or Soviets)? No I don't claim us to complain about the past... Complaint is the lot of a feeble.

Love / Polish man dating Russian women [42]

Russian gals are raised to be housewives, and dont value education/career as much, because they think "why, when my man is supposed to support me

Krakowianka, this is not true. The life in Russia is expensive, unless you're an oligarch's wife (who are in the minority of course) and at the same time want to have a family - you have to work. In its turn unless you have a high education you can't get a well-paid job. All of gals I know have high education. None of them are currently housewives (some are on maternity leave though).

What you said was fair enough for immigrants from the former USSR who have no intention to use brains since they usually use other parts of body.

News / No Way, No Apology! Poland has every right to support Georgia! [115]

From what I can gather the Ukraine has been stealing gas so they should pay.

The worst about it is that Russia anyway (to celinskies' joy) turns out the defeated party. Ukraine steals gas not giving a sh!t about their own people. Europe washes its hands saying "this is your problem... we need a gas" and doesn't want to "stick its nose" in the business.

Celinski, I already knew you were insane, I knew you were blind for any counter arguments but even considering that you don't fail to surprise me with your phenomenal stupidity.

Keep it nice, please.

Keep it nice, please.

Ok. My bad...

Gazprom cuts gas deliveries via Ukraine[
en.rian.ru/russia/20090106/119378332.html

The Russian energy monopoly said on Monday it would reduce its delivery of gas to Ukraine by 65.3 million cubic meters - the volume that had been stolen.

Statement by Alexey Miller about gas price for Ukraine
gazprom.com/eng/news/2009/01/33511.shtml

"Naftogaz Ukrainy is taking an irresponsible stance in relation to Ukrainian consumers. The contract for gas supply to Ukraine in 2009 hasn't been concluded yet. Naftogaz Ukrainy has rejected the favorable offer by Gazprom to supply Russian gas at USD 250 per 1,000 cubic meters and has withdrawn unilaterally from the negotiating process. Neither the offer to supply Central Asian gas at USD 370, nor the offer to supply gas at the average European price of USD 418 have helped bring our Ukrainian counterparts back to the negotiating table.

Let's hope that the offer to deliver gas to Ukraine in January at USD 450 per 1,000 cubic meters, which is a gas price for the Eastern European countries bordering Ukraine minus costs of gas transit across Ukraine, will return Naftogaz Ukrainy to the negotiating table in the shortest possible time," OAO Gazprom Management Committee Chairman Alexey Miller told reporters.

I would suggest you following things:

1) Look for Russian gal in Russia (Moscow and SP are preferable).
2) Look for the financially independent gal (lower risk of being cheated)
3) Pay attention for her educational background.

I say that just because being in the US I've met loads of Belorussian and Ukranian women who for the sake of simplicity said they were Russian and who perceived marriage as the easiest way to stay there. After collapse of the USSR many young women mostly from Ukraine, Belorussia and poorest areas of Russia started to look for the better life abroad. If you're looking for the really pure relationship be aware of that. :) I just don't want anybody to have bad experience with Russians or later say some like "all Russians are sluts".

and she does not drink vodka. I s that strange?

It's not. :) I'm Russian, male. I don't drink vodka, don't play balalayka, don't embrace bears in the morning. Is that strange? :))

Ukraine deliberately came to gas-grips with Russia. Not that Ukraine decided itself on what to do, the back-up from "above" occured.
Now you're trying to do what, Celinski? To blame Russia in that they cut off the gas? Blame Ukranian Gov who still play somebody's puppets and trying to earn easy political points for the future.

They offered firstly to Ukraine the really low price 210$, Ukraine refused and didn't want to sign new treaty; they logically leveled up prices to 250$ then to 400$ average European 450$. As a response Ukraine started to steal the gas, your European gas. How comes that you wanna blame Russia again, Celinski??? :))) Don't be ridiculous! Unless new contract signed Russia couldn't provide Ukraine with gas. Do you understand English, Celinski?

P.S. I'm looking forward to another preposterous idea of yours.

Everybody knows that NATO doesn't want to invaid Russia. Russian paranoia is Russian problem.

Everybody in the mentioned context bears not the best tinge if you know what I'm talking about.
Initially it's not a paranoia at all. Just in general people (including yourself) have no idea about what's happening on military level. That's ok... those non-slavics

(I'd better specify they're non-slavic) think alike.

Now when oil prices go down ... maybe another lesson like in 90's will teach them something.

I hope so. Keep my fingers crossed...

Ukrianians are not Russians.

That's tricky bro... I bet if you meet a Russian-spoken on the street you won't be able to say for sure if he's Russian or Ukranian or smb else. The logic is usually simple: if one speaks Russian, behave badly, spit on the streets, drunk, love putin&KGB then he's Russian; elsewise he's not. That's the logic usually applied to identify us. Meanwhile being in the US about 1 year I've met 1000s of Russian-spoken however I could count Russians with the fingers of the only my hands.

Lets hope we are going to get more gas from Norway and green industry but now it seems that we don't have support in so called EU.

You're gonna sell your underwear if you want to buy gas from Norway.

BTW. Do you know this joke ?
What is the difference between Hitler and Putin ?
I mean their main works.
Mein Kampf und kein Mampf.

That's hilarious. :) Thanks.

The only reason Chechenya broke out from Russia was because of the greedy rich people who wanted the oil and gas for themselfs.

They strove for power as well.

Poland is totally in the right! Poland has every right to put whatever she wants on her land. Poland is right to support Georgia

Everybody has a right to be stupid. What is really important here - not to abuse that privilege.

News / ENGLISH STILL PROFITABLE IN POLAND? [78]

Russians have a very strong, hard <or even harsh accent> it's different to the Polish accent

Lir, it depends. This is probably right for the older generation who as Pawian said couldn't get abroad from Russia either. Like my first teacher in high school was Tatar... her pronunciation of let's say all -ing endings was so disgusting that I still wince when recall it. As a result I didn't have any desire at all for learning English in school and left it with the maximum what I could "this is a cat" and stuff like that.

The teacher I began with three years ago was Ukranian-Russian which is the same as he spoke only Russian had very unaccented English. He was young and could pratice it with native speakers. One more thing to mention is that Polish schools will be always able to decide on who hire.

News / Poles, get ready for mass migration from Russia ! [50]

WooPee

As far as I know for the US citizens the visa procedure is pretty easy and the problem can be handled by one single call (which can't be said about US visa for Russians). I strongly doubt it's any more difficult for the EU. Another point is that... well... imagine that Russia is a different EU (it's big) and take your look at the problem from this point of you. Think you got it now. We'll get uncontroled migration in case we open our bourders. One should apply his mind before altering things to any new state.

Another point is that the current Polish Gov (as well Russian one... but that's another story) profits politically with help antirussian paranoia which it blown out in Poland through the media. The easiest way doesn't mean right. :) In its turn Russian media perfectly uses Polish articles about Russia to inflate antipolish moods within Russia... and I can't say they absolutely fail in what they've done. Against the background of the whole situation visa-system cancellation doesn't seem to become a reality in the nearest future. And we both WooPee may be good fellows and be glad to see each other in our countries but that doesn't always coincide with Gov's policies.

As for the rest of Russia ... it's fully "compatible" with the deepest Ukrainian glubinka, not even to start with cities like Donetsk or Dnepropetrovsk.

You should have better said the rest of Russia is like Kiev. I know lots of Ukranians-Kievans who prefer to work as engineers in Moscow rather than in the hometown. It's the truth otherwise we wouldn't have now bunches of gastarbeiters hijacking people. As for the crisis itself - everybody experiences it.... more or less. As for now I wouldn't emphasize Russia as the country having the biggest troubles. But I understand you want things to go that way.... :)

consider Davies "biased" because of his Polish wife lol.

lol but he might or might not be biased cause of his Polish wife. Moreover the past experience shows it's likely to be the first option. :)

I don't know the population of Ukrainians or Russians in Poland..tell me.

It's above.

50 000 Belorussians
31 000 Ukrainians
6 000 Russians

I agree that those figures are conservative yet they reflect the proportion.

I hear that for Ukrainians

For Ukranians Russia is the West. :)))

You may just compare population of Russians and Ukranians in Poland... and everything will be clear.
P.S. Under "Russians" and "Ukranians' I meant citizenship only.

News / Poles, get ready for mass migration from Russia ! [50]

what's the point of going to another poor country, even if it belongs to EU????

I just didn't want to voice that...

The main reason why Russians move there is usually that they love Poland and want to feel like at home among other Slavs. Money are unlikely to be a point there.

According to wikipedia:
50 000 Belorussians
31 000 Ukrainians
6 000 Russians

According to the same study there were less than 1000 of Jews or so (for sure less than Russians). Can you believe that?

These figures are totally underestimated

Most likely.

How could you find out you were Polish I wonder? The DNA test provides you with haplotype, not with nationality.

News / All this mess about Danzig... [122]

Russia should be stretched from Alaska up to Scotland.

Aha... Russia is everywhere. :) Everything is Russia except for China.

As for possible Chinese invasion there were many good points made. I have to say the issue of China is clear for both people and government (Kostia is an expected exception who's always having fun). While studied Chinese missiles at the university our teacher who himself spent his youth in Habarovsk said: "Kitajci, kak sarancha". Which is "Chinese are like locusts". They don't know the word "enough". I don't think there's a room for serious cooperation or (and) assimilation. We're too different (thankfully) for both these. Hard to look for culture in the nation that considers quite ok to eat abortus fetus in 21st century.

Russian policy should be like being polite (not too friendly) and constantly watching her six (back) unless we wanna be backstabbed one day which is likely to be the last day. And I'm for cooperation with the "West" in case the day ever happens.

P.S. Const made one good point though... or well was about to make it. I'd prefer to see more Poles in Russia. Of course on the voluntary basis... in case some would recall our not the best past.
