Hi Guys,

Apologies for submitting this question as a new thread but I could not find an option to respond on the existing thread (new to this forum) so opening a new one.

I am on verge of getting an offer from a Product based international company organization in Krakow.

I will be getting around 18000zl per month (before tax) and planning to move with my wife and son who is 1.5 years old.

Is it a decent salary to live with family in Krakow?
How much can I save monthly?
Is it really difficult to survive in Krakow without knowing the local language?
How easy it would be to get a job for my wife with an IT experience of 5 years.

Some additional information:

I am an Indian with an IT experience (Specifically in SAP and Risk Compliance) of around 10 years.

Your guidance will help a lot as it's a big decision for me to make.

Regards,
DS

No problem at all, you will be in the middle class level on that pay.

Hi DS. There are loads of threads about the cost of living but to answer your query quickly, yes that's plenty of money to live on.

How much can you save is really 'how long is a piece of string?' :)) Depends on how thrifty you are but you should be able to manage to save four thousand a month or so without difficulty.

Knowledge of basic Polish makes life a lot easier. Not everybody will speak English by any means and I would suggest that you invest some money in enrolling your wife in a basic Polish course to make things like shopping and simple everyday interactions a bit easier and less stressful for her. Also she will be more independent of you and not need your help with things like going to the post office to send a parcel.

I'm not sure about your wife's right to work. If she's coming as your dependent,I don't think she has an automatic entitlement but you would need to check that with the authorities. Other posters here would know more than I do about that.

Best of luck :))

That's a high salary and puts you in the upper middle class. Most poles make around 5k zloty in the major cities. So even with 3 people to support you'll still be able to save some cash.

You'll be able to pay bills, get a large condo/home, go on vacations, etc without any problem. You'll also have enough to buy certain luxuries like a nice car, a vacation home somewhere in Poland, Czechy, etc.

Id take the job if I were you. Although it's a smaller salary than say what UK, France germany etc would offer the costs of living especially real estate, food, etc are far lower.

Did you accept the offer?
If you did, how are you doing now with your family?
