Polish wife for Chicago Pole - TV show

This is probably something that PFers could find interesting considering the number of Pol-Ams on PF (including from Chicago) ;)

So today at 20:20 on TVP1 there's going to be the first episode of a new reality TV show "Żona dla Polaka" (a wife for a Pole). Earlier there was a similar show called "Rolnik szuka żony" (a farmer is looking for a wife) - I'm guessing they made it because Polish women are fleeing the countryside and so men there have a harder time finding a wife. It was a popular show, apparently. I didn't watch it, because I don't normally watch such shows, but I think I'm going to watch this one (well, at least the first episode lol)... You know, after all those years on PF my first thought after hearing about this show was - are those men going to be normal? lol Will this show give an answer to the eternal question on PF - "Is there something in the water in the US?"?? ;D

This should be "fun"... lol

From what I remember it's going to be four men from Chicago looking for a wife in Poland. Two of those men were born in the US, but have Polish roots and the other two were born in Poland and moved to the US.

Btw, what do you think about such shows? Are those people genuine - are they really looking for a life partner or are they doing it for fame? Or maybe both?

@Novichok, I was wondering about that, but aren't Joker's and Cargo_pants' wives Polish? Where did they find them? Did they meet already in the US? 🤔

I met mine in Chicago in 1966. She came to the US with her parents in 1963 so I knew it was not the green card but my charming personality.

I was flat broke so it was not my wealth, either.

It's good to be broke before the wedding to filter out gold diggers and make it a 100-dollar event.

Most American 'reality' shows are anything but. They're heavily staged. There have been quite a few of those 'romance' shows in America and the contestants are often just actors hired for the show. When the participants are real, the situations and outcome are often faked just to meet viewer expectations.

But if it's a Polish production, then maybe there's an element of truth in it.

You watch too many American wrestling shows, probably. :):):)

I remember switching channels and seeing a clip of the UK version of the farmer wants a wife or love in the countryside. It featured a young girl in stilettos looking like she was going clubbing trying to negotiate the mud on a pig farm.

I didn't watch much more because it was so obviously a set up with totally mismatched people there for entertainment value. Maybe the Polish one will be a bit different but I think a lot of people go on these shows for their 5 minutes of fame. I can't say I'm a fan of these reality shows as I find them uninteresting.


I have already proved to you that men are equally capable of just the same with the video I posted on another thread. I don't know any women on this side of the pond that behave anything remotely like any of the women in your videos so it appears that the US has more than its fair share of nutters.

Or they could just stay in Chicago a find a Polish wife. New girls are flying in all of the time, but most of them get sucked into th e dating Polish guy trap until they learn English. They all have had enough of Adidas crew back home. The primitive imported Polish guys are all the same, look the same, dress the same and when they get a few bucks they blow it on a fancy car while living in a crappy apartment.

I think you under estimate how many Poles are in the Chicagoland area.
