I will be visiting Krakow and was hoping to travel to Sandomierz for a day or two. The problem is that there seems to be no easy way of getting there without a car. Does anyone have any suggestions for a bus or train from Krakow to Sandomierz? Or, is it a trip best taken with an auto?
Travel from Krakow to Sandomierz
If you are going to see the castle then you will need an auto.
I'm sure there must a bus service from Kraków to Sandomierz. Apart from the castle (only one wing is left, the two other ones were blown up by the Swedes in the 17th century) the Old Town market place is a charming place. The church nearest to the castle (the cathedral, I should think) has a tremendous interior which was under renovation a year ago, definitely worth seeing.

Yes, exactly but it is still in a much better shape than those pathetic ruins in Nowy Sącz - whenever I pass them, I am overwhelmed with immense pity.

Defo travel for a day, not two. It's a nothing town, pretty and worth a visit but a day is enough. Maybe if you can get auto worth stopping in Zalipe on way or Krzyżtopór castle

After you visit the castle there is nothing else to do in Sandomierz. We walked around looked thru a few shops, had lunch, but thats basically all there is, boring place..
Hmm, I won`t argue coz I was in Sandomierz as a child, in communist times so I don`t remember much.
