Why does Geddy Lee hate Poland?

So, I have a problem. Geddy Lee of Rush promised to play in Poland on Wandering the Face of the Earth book, page 426, but it turned out that he basically badmouthed Poland on My Effin' Life, pages 45, 46, 73 and 80.

I don't want my country to be stigmatized as antisemitic and as a woman from Poland, I don't wanna be told I'm a "man-hater" and generalize any man, because I found some men to be aholes and I always believed that Rush was a bunch of nice guys who never said any bad word against anybody.

BTW, I happen to support JK Rowling, that's why I alluded to my feminist upbringing.

NOTE: Rush is a Canadian progressive rock band with a bassist, singer and keyboardist Geddy Lee of Polish descent (and Jewish religion, now he's an atheist)

Are you sure? Poland is bigger nation than Israel and also, I have waited to see Rush in Poland (even as solo musicians without Neil or book vendors, like Geddy Lee did).

Everybody is entitled to express their opinion of somewhere, and I doubt the opinion of some guy from an obscure popular musical group would stigmatise a whole country.

And it's hard to deny that even now, there are high levels of antisemitism in Poland, though fortunately the kiosks have recently stopped selling those awful 'Meet the Jews' booklets.

Yes, I listened to it in 1980s. In early 2000s I bought The Best of Rush CD. It is still there on the shelves.

Most people aren't rock fans. I'd vaguely heard of the name, however there are so many near identical rock bands usually with very dated long hair, all sounding much of a muchness.

I don't see how his opinion of Poland is a problem. Just because you don't lie what he said, doesn't equate to polonophobia.

What if I told you, that even my indifference against abrahamic religions (like Christianity, Judaism and Islam), because of their misogyny (women-hatred) is equated to antisemitism?

Also, why do you refuse to acknowledge the Poles as heroes who saved Jews, despite harsh measures thanks to Nazi Germany. If you saved one Jewish life, you could be persecuted by Nazis. Don't expect the Poles to act like heroes, instead of collaborators in such circumstances. Poland was also victimized by Soviets, it made matters worse and hence the Polish-Jewish conflict.

I have proudly lived in Poland all my life except 2.5 years when I didn`t.

That doesn't in any way affect antisemitism today. It's probably worth pointing out that among those who bravely saved lives in WE2, some were certainly antisemitic to a degree. What they weren't however was killers and even antisemites can show decency to their fellow humans. Very little in this world is black and white.

Worth mentioning that not all branches of those religions are misogynistic. Anglican, URC, Methodisv Christianity as well as Reform Judaism and Moderate Islam all gender neutral.


It may have reinforced prejudice, however antisemitism in Central and Eastern Europe long predates 1948.


Perhaps the odd article in the trashiest tabloids, however many people can thing for themselves and in any case, the media is more likely to carry reviews of rock concerts than articles claiming such and such a person follows LHP occult currents.

Couldn't talk to them, without having to listen to their hatred against modern Poles, even if I had nothing in common with some obscure anti-Jewish pogroms, that weren't excavated properly, like Jedwabne, Wąsosz, Szczuczyn - probably Mieczysław Kosmowski's and Nazi Germany's inside job (and Kielce was provoked by Soviet UB workers, as Henio Błaszczyk said).
