It was a girls only school. Most schools in Ireland are single sex, even nowadays. But in boys' schools it was the same. Un-gentlemanly :)) Basically, it was about maintaining standards in your appearance and not being sloppy.

In my experience, the guys that went to all-boys schools would do a lot of gay sh!t - that the rest of co-ed people thought was very strange.

In the navy it's the same, it seems.

And pretty well all armies everywhere.

I had Different experience. Went to both all-boys and co-ed schools. The all-boys school was less gay-not that co-eds were overly gay.
