I know it's a bit early to be putting up the tree but I think we need to begin the festive cheer in earnest. This is the tree I would choose for our Forum common room :) Please add others if there's a style you prefer :)

Of course, for ecological reasons, it should be an artificial, multi-season Christmas tree that can be folded and stored in the basement after the Christmas. I hope PF has a basement.

Oh yes, I agree. You can get really nice ones nowadays and of course we have a basement! This is a Polish forum. Piwnica musi być!

We have been using the same one for 21 years now. I remember the purchase of that German made tree in German owned Praktiker DYI store like today. It cost 300 PLN and it was worth this money hundredfold because it is still in excellent shape. Germans don`t produce such quality stuff anymore. ::(:(:((:(:.

They buy from China.

They buy from China.

Thus making Chinese economy grow and German the opposite - shrink. It started with Christmas trees 20 years ago and has ended with electric cars and advanced machinery recently.

Why have Germans allowed themselves to fall so low, I wonder?

This tree has Saint Nicholas on top, I would rather have a spike on top of the tree. Saint Nicholas gifts are given today (sorry, yesterday) not just at Christmas.

I guess it's the only way....when you are on top....down! China will learn that in the future too....

I would rather have a spike on top of the tree.

Why? The boot-at-the-door-ritual was still very much beloved even in our atheist-pagan-past in the GDR :)

I don't like the whole Santa at Christmas too much either. And the older I get, and see more of the raging consumerism. the more I dislike the 'santa brings gifts to good kids'.

I would choose something like this:

Yes, that's not something I would choose myself. I've never seen that before. But I like the overall appearance of the tree. I like the old-fashioned, retro style with the tinsel and lametta, and I like that kind of shape of tree.
I would rather have a spike on top of the tree

That's very eastern. They certainly sell lovely ones in Poland. I go for a star myself. In Ireland angels are popular too.

Thank you for your tree Lenka :) very feminine.

Hmm, quite logical, indeed. :):):)

China will learn that in the future too....

I earnestly hope so. :):):) Down with communists!

Reminds me of how mine used to look back in the day.

I would choose something like this:

Very pretty.

I've gone for something a bit different:

Guys and guyesses, it doesn`t really matter how our trees looks like. It is the underneath that counts!!!

True, but this is the PF Christmas tree thread :)

the PF Christmas tree thread

Exactly, but to my thinking we mustn`t disregard the underneath of the tree coz it plays even a more essential role than its upper part. In our contemporary times, the sole existence of the tree depends on its bottom content, in my humble you know what.

the underneath of the tree

The German tradition of putting the crib under the tree and the presents on the Weinachtstisch nearby is nice.
I've gone for something a bit different:

Very frosty, snowy looking - a Snow Queen vibe :)

For everybody to see everything at once??? No, the atmosphere needs some mystery to be remembered for a longer time than a day or two. That is why presents should be hidden under the tree. Puzzle wrapped in other enigmas etc.

That is why presents should be hidden under the tree.

They're not hidden though. It's quite obvious that they're under the tree.

Presents left on the table in Germany are also wrapped.

In Ireland the pressies go under the tree on Christmas Eve, in the evening. In our house we always used to wrap our presents in the afternoon or early evening and gradually add them. It was lovely to see the spectacle appear over the course of the day. When they were all there, my mother always used to shake her head and say 'God Almighty, aren't we very greedy! All those presents, it's a disgrace!' :)) But a lot of them were just small things, not expensive. We liked to buy each other a lot of little things, rather than one or two big presents.

They're not hidden though.

They are in our home and you can see them only after you lift and spread the bottom branches away. It is not my fault that your Christmas tree is so poor and depleted that you can`t hide presents under it.

But it is your fault for being rude when not required......you have a terrible air of arrogance.

air of arrogance.

Only in contacts with bad people. Jesus was also arrogant when he whipped and kicked them out. Simple.

Since I don't buy Christmas tree decorations in Poland and our spike was broken years ago I managed to buy a spike with a star on top in Germany, made of unbreakable material.

Major fire hazard to keep a dead pine tree inside your house.

So true not to mention all those needles that fall off the tree and infect your house for another year!!!!

all those needles

This tree is artificial, plastic. Nothing falls off there.
