The Polish president has condemned the "stupidity" of fans from the Israeli football club Maccabi Haifa after they displayed a banner calling Poles "murderers since 1939."

However, you should write that during the first match Polish fans displayed a banner potentially offensive to Israel.

them yesterday

I find it very odd, if Polish government murdered anyone in 1939 it was German minority collaborators with tight connection to Abwehr or SD. Excecuted for treason, which German military retaliated for resulting in a bloody incident, which spiralled into a norm of butchering during occupation of Poland.

Is the owner of the footballclub a German? Otherwise I find it very odd. Perhaps their school taught them something different

At this year's US Open Polish players are doing pretty well so far..... Polish fans.... less so.

After winning his match, Kamil Majchrzak offered his hat to a boy in the stands when an adult man snatched it from Majczrzak's hands.... as it turns out this 'adult' is most likely Piotr Szczerek, head of a company called Drogbruk

Then his supposed lawyer writes a press release designed to make everyone hate Szczerek...

Majchrzak has publicly reached out to try to find the boy so he can give him a cap.

Awaiting further developments....

Apparently that's been dismissed as a fake.... so no word from the cap thief yet....

As the Polish politician Anita Kucharska-Dziedzic said about the cap snatcher Szczerek "Undoubtedly the most recognisable Polish businessman in the world. Billions reached in one day. Polish entrepreneurs will be making up for image losses for years. Unfortunately."

Why the hell did he do that? What sort of person is he?

What sort of person is he?

The word 'cham' comes to mind...

'cham' comes to mind...

...or a Polak...They are known to the police here as car thieves.

The word 'cham' comes to mind...

It's certainly wrecked his reputation.

Hard to know why he did it. Even harder to know why he thought he could get away, standing a metre or so from someone being snapped by the world's press with the cameras at the other side of him pointing in his direction.

Hard to know why he did it.

He's used to taking things from people would be the obvious explanation....

And he's so self-absorbed that he simply didn't think anyone would notice.

standing a metre

What is a metre...Did you ever say it separating the syllables?

In the US, it's me ter... How do you say it in the UK? Me tre?

And he's so self-absorbed that he simply didn't think anyone would notice.

That's likely.

He's issued some sort of apology, though doubtless only because he was caught in the act. A metre from a sports star being papped!

The media are saying that the clip has been viewed over a billion times and at least one high circulation newspaper mentioned forums; I suspect Admin has seen a spike in traffic. Journalists do look here and at least one national paper made reference to something posted here a few years ago about a hot button issue, almost word for word but not mentioning the source.

Hard to know why he did it.

Simply, it must be a relative of Count 'Buc' Komorowski.

Count '

You dont need the "u" in that word to describe Szczerek.

Maybe he should change his name since he doesn't sound very "szczery" to me.
