Dunkin Donuts to come to Poland

And predictability. The food may not be outstanding but it is predictably standardised so you know what to expect wherever the familiar fast-food chains operate. Not everyone is gastronomically adventurous when travelling abroad.

Curious as to whether there's an indigenous Polish-based coffee bar chain equivalent to Starbucks. Once more, for whatever reason, it took off like mad in Austria.

Guess the Austrians just wants to see how the other half drinks:-)

Good to hear, I guess Warsaw will be the safer place in Poland..This is where all Police's officers eat in USA Dunkin Donuts ... lol

There was a dunkin donuts in one of the pasazy under the Warsaw central station in the late 90s. I used to grab a coffee there and a donut and it was OK. There wasn't much choice as the coffee chains were only just emerging. Also, I was a bit younger then and less fussy about what I ate. ;-)

Still can't see the appeal. Again, probably just want to see how the other half lives (..if you can call that living):-)

D.D. is a little more than just coffee and doughnuts.
I usually get a bacon guacamole wrap and cappuccino for breakfast.
And for a quick lunch maybe a grilled ham and cheese or turkey bacon
and cheddar sandwich if I am pressed for time.
Not bad for the price and rather quickly served.

In Poland they tend not to have the full menu. The last time that doughnut place was operating in Poland they didn't sell anything like that. Just really nasty doughnuts, weak coffee and sugary drinks. Also, things like bacon/guacamole, much as I like the sound of that myself, are way outside the tastes of the demographic who might go somewhere like that in Warsaw. Let alone smaller places.

Horrible 'food' (though it isn't really worthy of the name food). I really hope it goes bust like last time and gets replaced by something better.

Yep, like these guys here. I go there quite often for my dinner. Also been to their restaurant in Krakow "Pod Wawelem". If there are chains opening shops or restaurants in Poland then it should be these guys.

It is for people on the go pressed for time, in and out chat later, I am running late.
They call it a Fast Food not dinner on the sidewalk with music for two.
Seems any new business in Poland to employ Poles would be welcome, not met with such negativity.

Yep and that is why it is going to fail. Why do you think that despite the overwhelming amount of super and hypermarkets, there are so many local corner shops in Poland? People like to talk to the person they buy / order from. They build up a relationship, come again to buy / order from the same person.

It may work in Warsaw but it will be very difficult for Dunkin Donuts to last in other cities. I am pretty certain that it won't work here in Lodz. As an example, we have Subway and a canteen in our office building. Subway is usually empty whereas in the canteen you will find a huge line of people trying to buy food between 11:30 and 13:30.

Taco Bell didn't make it in Poland and had to pull out. Reckon Mexican food doesn't correspond to the Polish palate. Burger King pulled out then returned under new managemrent. Dunno how they're doinbg compared to McD. Other than Chłopskie Jadło, do you know of any indigenously Polish fast-food chains?

Maybe not fast food, but these guys are doing a great amount of trade - mexpolska.pl

In particular, their PRL-themed bars are doing a huge amount of trade in food and drink.
