Attacks against healthcare workers in Poland

I am not so sure how effective it is.

Apparently not very and many of those who get it take it because they have to. Dose reduction is all that really works and if course if people are forced into poverty due to smack being illegal, either you lift them out of that poverty or it just becomes a vicious circle

Well, Jon, you voluntarily step in the pile of excrement, but getting out of the mess is my problem? I blame the weakness of character and the liberals' idea of solving problems.

I agree.

Every child should get 1 million dollars at birth. Probem solved.

if people are forced into poverty due to smack being illegal,

weird jump of logic there....

trying to treat addiciton without treating the underlying psychological issues is a road to nowhere... as they say, addictions don't destroy people, they happen to people who've already been destroyed.. (:yeah I know, people vary widely in how prone they are to various types of addiction partly on biological grounds).

liberals' idea of solving problems.

liberals are not interested in solving problems... they just want to weaken any power structure they dont' create. Once you get that, it explains almost everything about them.

weird jump of logic there....

Not so weird, since it's all part of a vicious circle which very few can break. Looking at the person's psychological welbeing and doing what you can about it isn't that effective when the person is still on their sink housing estate with no chance of a job and surrounded by people who are treading water at a level not much higher than theirs.

It's a generational thing, and it's also no coincidence that use of hard drugs (and cheap alcohol) increase when a town's only major employer closes.

You and I have a bit of get up and go. I got out of my ex-mining place, got a good education and moved abroad. You crossed the Atlantic and I suspect you're well educated. Most people aren't like that and have far crapper lives. That can't just be blamed on "poor choices"; not everyone is the same. If they were, we'd all be superstars.

Of course not, sometimes addiction is at least partly the least awful option for a traumatized person... temporary numbing of otherwise unbearable pain. I get that. But it's not just an economic problem that can be solved.

IIRC there's also what might be called opportunistic addiction where removing the source of trauma removes the addiction (or makes it easier to deal with the underlying psychological issue).

To be truthful, I despise recreational users of hard drugs more than addicts... it's like the first season of White Lotus, where a bag of recreational drugs meant to relieve boredom for a couple of rich guests end up having a devastating effect on a recovering addict... A lot of people died in Latin America so rich @ssh0els in NAmerica could have a recreational snort....

But it's not just an economic problem that can be solved.

Very true, however we can do our best to mitigate it. Jobs, hope, good housing and good education do help, unfortunately this isn't cheap and too much of society's money is siphoned off by 'investors'.

To be truthful, I despise recreational users of hard drugs more than addicts... it's like the first season of White Lotus

I've heard of but not watched White Lotus and would feel happier generally if my best friend didn't rack up lines of coke almost daily. I'll have a bit when I see him, however it just seems asuch a waste of money compared to the limited gains. A little baggie for the price of 3 bottles of decent champagne is a daft thing and the champagne is nicer.

A lot of people died in Latin America so rich @ssh0els in NAmerica could have a recreational snort....

Not only America (though coke there is far better quality than you'd expect to find in Europe); it's pretty well taking over western europe (except for France) and was barely a thing at all 20 or 30 years ago. If it was legal of course, the financial incentive for all the crime would disappear almost overnight and the coca growers would just be like coffee growers. Exploited still, but safer and not under the radar for empowerment and stability.

Agree, Jon is the perfect example, hedonism explains everything. The hell with world order, rules accepted in the civilized society, in other words,' if it feels good, do it

You conveniently forget thousands of ruined lives, broken families, crime, and financial ruin, among other unpleasant consequences

thousands of ruined lives

Millions in the case of alcohol which is legal.

Other substances? Why criminalise less dangerous things and allow criminals to profit.

Of course not, sometimes addiction is at least partly the least awful option for a traumatized person..

Where my company's plant is, in Upstate New York - there is literally nothing else to do - than to get high and forget oneself.

People make jokes here about Russians stealing toilets, and drinking themselves to death.... let me tell you - not much different in Upstate New York.

Not everybody can be a Youtube star, or Instagram influencer. Not everybody is suited to bash people's brains out in a UFC ring, or to dribble a basketball.

Some people were born to miserable pieces of trash of parents. Some people cannot understand a complex sentence, or follow a basic news report.

However, they are still human beings. In their heart, they carry the same template upon which god had imprinted my person. They dream, they love, they desire, etc.

When your life provides you with no outlet, no joy, no satisfaction - how can you refuse a little brown powder that holds the promise to erase all your worries?

When or where did I promote or glorify alcohol? Moreover, two wrongs do not make a right.

Moreover, two wrongs do not make a right.

Right from what point of view?

From a theological point of view - anything that distracts from God's glory is wrong.

From my perspective - if I cannot f*ck my brains somehow, with something - I will shoot myself.

What should I do, Ptak? Go into a monastery, and spend the rest of my time in contemplation - hoping this gives my brain the f*ck it deserves?

Maybe "f*ck my brain" does not fully convey the sentiment... In Russian it is much clearer - "чем ебать мозг?" - по вашему "Jak wyruchać mój mózg?". The brain - like any other organ - demands some loving.

However, they are still human beings.

When soul is gone from his eyes, when drug replaces his faith, when God becomes nonexistent, and honor loses it's meaning, when hedonism is his guiding light
There is no person left; you're looking at the walking dead.

чем ебать мозг?

Try physics or mathematics. Theology, of course, is an option too, or literature. Family life can also do wonderful things to your brain - especially children are a huge source of happiness hormones and endless source of random adventures. Not to mention that you will turn your brain upside down several times before you begin to understand your wife's logic and internal mechanisms. There are many better ways of messing with your brain than alcohol or drugs.

soul is gone from his eyes, when drug replaces his faith, when God becomes nonexistent,There is no person left

I am not a big fan of Donald Trump either but don't exaggerate, he's not THAT bad.

Your brain is capable of much, much more. I like you too much to believe the dark picture you are painting is real, probably a temporary episode of melancholy
I am far from engaging in the preaching session, but I was never close to an illegal drug, till today, I have no idea of the taste or the smell of weed, and despite
claims that you need the drugs to make you happy. Contrary to the false promises, I was the happiest person possible; my life was paradise, that is, until Grimm
Reaper took an irreplaceable part from me, but I am getting much better, my dreams are overflovig with the images of my wife, but last night, in my dream I meet, the woman I could not take my eyes of her,I cupped her face in my hands, and mumbled: You are the most beautiful woman I ever seen. There is a ray of hope, but it comes with guilt.

Try physics or mathematics.

This is worse than drugs - are you kidding?!!

Number Theory has driven many people mad. Mersenne, Godel, Nash, Ramunajan.

I became obsessed with the problem of odd primes at some point, briefly, for a few months. I can easily see how it could consume my entire life.

Instead of dying as a junkie in some alley, I will die a maniac in some room surrounded by books - whats the difference?

Mathematics is worse than any heroin.

P.S. - For impressionable people - I do not do heroin. I do not do cocaine - as explained above - despite maybe even wanting to (but I have done it).

I am sure that Bobby understood the meaning of my post. Not one word was meant to be funny; his soul is more noble and poetic than you will ever know.
There is time for fun and time for seriousness.

There is time for fun and time for seriousness.

It's a serious subject for sure. I think a "canary in the mine".

When people talk about fertility dropping, and addictions rising... they usually look at surface level solutions.

You, me, Torq, Novi, Iron and others know the decay is much deeper.

People don't want to make babies because they have lost the will to live. Some paradise - this capitalism is.

if I cannot f*ck my brains somehow, with something - I will shoot myself.

I think for some people it is down to their personality type, they are always looking for something more. It's why some people do drugs and others are adrenaline junkies. Addictive type personalities.

People don't want to make babies because they have lost the will to live.

...or can count and compare...

Baby = 250,000 dollars from 0 to 18, no sex, arguments, no sports cars, no spontaneous weekends, divorce, custody, alimony, visitation rights, "Dad, your are so stupid" at 16...

250,000 dollars = a lot of fun or a million at retirement...

Easy choice...

You're full of surprises. *thumbs up*

...or can count and compare...

Oh, shut up, Novi. You're already enough of an arsehole as you are, you don't have to pretend to be an even bigger one. You are a father and a grandfather--you know the beauty of it, so don't try fool us, there is a warm, kindhearted granpa somewhere deep inside of you.

We have three of them

Good man, Alien! We always wanted three too but we settled for two plus a dog (a Havanese). If I were 10 years younger, I'd definitely have one or even two more kids. Children and religion--they are the most sure signs of will to live, temporal and eternal. Bobi is right that both fertility rates and religious adherence are on the decline recently but I wouldn't blame capitalism for the fact. Actually, the core of old capitalism--diligence, thrift and self-discipline--align perfectly with Christian life. It's the modern, twisted and corrupt form of capitalism with fiat money, perpetual inflation and usury that is to blame (plus, of course, social media that spread idiocy on an unheard of before scale, as well as anti-values promoted by the entertainment industry).

From Post 115 on down, you again revealed that none of you could be a lawyer and the problem of jumping to conclusions - so evident here every damn day...

How on the basis of:

Easy choice...

... did you, geniuses, conclude what I would choose money over the sweetest experience of my life ...

FYI, not even once did any of my accounts say: I love you, grandpa...
