Polish-German Close Cooperation Plan

Torq
17 Jun 2011   #1
Fast railways, gas pipelines connecting Germany and Poland, Polish philology at German universities
and close co-operation within the European Union structures - these are some of the projects of
the agreement that will be signed on Tuesday in Warsaw. Last year, similar cooperation agreement
was signed between Germany and France. "There are no other examples of such a close cooperation
in Europe", claimed a German diplomat, in an interview for "Gazeta Wyborcza."

German Chancellor and Polish Prime Minister will talk before EU summits, and governments of Poland
and Germany will meet regularly for joint sessions. Most probably, there will be joint German-Polish
embassies in Asia and Africa.

I'm all for it! :)

Tusk fits Merkel...he is like her a quiet worker, not the great poser. Pragmatic but gets things done.
They have chemistry!

Merkel has problems with these vain media-hogs who take themselves much more important than their job.

Ew, that's kind of gay. Can't you just shake his hand and give him a punch on the arm. Then raise a glass of beer.

**Now that's manly.**

Heh:)

There are always different ways...the inside view, full of the daily strifes and little problems and then there is the outside view, how your country looks from further away without the many little problems and difficulties but more a broad overall perception...both images are seldom the same. :)

Tusk stays for a successful Poland, growing economically and politically, stable and respected, ...believe it or not! ;)

Economic Boom
Poland Is Europe's New High-Flyer

By Jan Puhl

Poland, once a backward agricultural country, is quickly becoming an economic powerhouse in Central Europe. The Poles are strongly pro-European, and even their relationship with the Germans is no longer as tense as it was just a few years ago. Nowhere is the transformation easier to see than in Wroclaw.

sure Germans should praise Tusk - they can't imagine a better partner in Poland

the word PR (public relations) in Poland has gained much popularity and hmm PO government and Tusk himself stand mostly for PR for many Poles(and not much else more) - there is a growing risk crucial developements will be missing before the EURO 2012 (like motorways) - btw Tusk is also a simple (edit: I meant plain) and blatant liar

What would be your alternative to Tusk?
Sokrates  8 | 3335
17 Jun 2011   #14
Good alternative? None. Better than him? Kaczyński.

Mind you Kaczyński is not a good politician by any stretch, its just that Tusk failed so unbelievably that even incompetents like Kaczyński are better, of course he'll **** off Germans and Russians but at least he wont nuke our domestic economy.

Sorry BB i live here, german newspapers praise Tusk cause he'll bend over to Berlin but when you actully live in Poland, the guy is a failure, PR is his only success.

Better than him? Kaczyński.

In what way was he positive for Poland? He isolated Poland, he made Poles the laughingstock of Europe...the relationship to your neighbours detoriated to the bottom...

You want that back???

Sorry BB i live here, german newspapers praise Tusk cause he'll bend over to Berlin but when you actully live in Poland, the guy is a failure, PR is his only success.

Well...the economic data is beyond PR....Poland is on a way up, if you want to or not! ;)

erman newspapers praise Tusk cause he'll bend over to Berlin

How so? In what way does he "bend over" to Berlin?

I've read that statement repeatedly here on PF....but I still don't know what is meant with that.
Is working for good relationships equal to "bending over" in Poles mind? Is only a leader who achieves to annoy and upset a good leader???

Are international tantrums needed for Poles to feel sufficiently represented?

I will clue you in....the Kaczinsky's achieved nothing with their foot stompings. Quiet the contrary, they destroyed alot of european good will!
In delicate international relationships quiet back rubbings are much more helpful to further your case and help your interests!

That is indeed a special occasion. When two real men, like BB and I, hug and kiss - it must be a special occasion.

*grabs BB, hugs him and gives him a kiss - Honecker style*

:-)

I'm not a great admirer of Tusk, and I mentioned it on many occasions, but tightening relations
with Germany is the best thing he can do. It is vital for Poland's future well-being and development.
Heck - I never thought I will say that, but I may even vote for PO in the upcoming elections!

Well done Tusk and Merkel. The time of hostility is over - thumbs up for the new era of peace
and co-operation between Germany and Poland!

Why?

Crow considers Germans to be germanized Slavs (if I understood his theory correctly),
so German-Polish cooperation for him should be a completely inter-slavic matter :-)

Or....even better:

"Sarmatian Poland conquers secretly Germany to liberate our germanized slavic brethren - Halleluja!"

These novels set in old Breslau by Marek Krajewski as mentioned in the Spiegel-article are news to me...I think I will look out for them. They sound interesting!

If putting a tent on KM....or keep on going with this utterly boring smoleńsk business...then for sure he could be a success.

This guy does not even know what "economy" is.

its just that Tusk failed so unbelievably that even incompetents like Kaczyński are better, of course he'll **** off Germans and Russians but at least he wont nuke our domestic economy.

Won't he?

He certainly tried his best, by introducing all sorts of social payments to everyone irrespective of need.

But as I'm sick to the face of saying - get rid of Kaczynski, get rid of his goons and create a genuine Catholic-Socialist party. It'll win every election in sight by a mile.

Well done Tusk and Merkel. The time of hostility is over - thumbs up for the new era of peace and co-operation between Germany and Poland!

On a personal level, I hope for Poland to become one of the big boys in the EU. In terms of population and regional influence, there's absolutely no reason why Poland can't be such a thing. This kind of move really helps - people will trust Poland to be stable and grown up.

The Eberhard Mock series. I didn't read any of them, but they're supposed to be good.
Interestingly enough, Krajewski is a classical philologist and he used to work at the Institute
of Classical Philology and Antique Culture of Wrocław Univeristy.

This kind of move really helps - people will trust Poland to be stable and grown up.

That's the idea - stabilization, growth and development in the atmosphere of peace
and cooperation. It's hard not to be an optimist when you read news like that.

They are excellent. Unfortunately I think that I'm reading them out of order. Also, the English translation is a bit annoying in places.

to me that looks far more better than that seducing via the atlantic and it's more more natural/logic.

that 'overseas project' looks to me more like a sinking ship not yet knowing that it will maybe soon hit ground...

As Milo says, SPOT ON!

Hey, I'm still all for better relations with Germany (as BB can attest). However, I do not shrink from gently and lovingly criticising our western friends and neighbours if such need ever arises in these difficult times.

Excellent! We will cross our fingers!

Notice the use of the modal verb "may" in the sentence you quoted above. This verb is used by our English-speaking partners to say that something is possible but not certain. :)

PiS

Huge disappointment. And to think that at some point I had such high hopes for them. Oh, well... życie.
