X-mas isn't until December. No one cares now.

Yes, Christmas is one of the main celebrations in Poland. The main meal is held on Christmas Eve, and the dinner usually includes Polish dishes such as barscz (beetroot soup) with pierogi or other dumplings, herring, and krokiety (a type of savoury crepe). The meal is started by passing around sharing wafers and saying prayers, and is usually followed by the Midnight Mass. It is a Polish tradition to lay an extra spot at the table in case an unexpected guest should come knocking.

herring

Recently I took up eating fried herring. I must think of this option for next Christmas. Thanks. :):):)

Local councils or private enterprises all over Poland organise shared Christmas eve suppers for homeless, lonely or poor residents. Everybody is welcome.

Polish tradition is gifts are given on Christmass Eve, not the next day.

Another tradition which exists in our family is we like presents which we have already been given before. That is why my kids, after 3 years, again gave me a kit of hot sauces (fortunately without that nasty Scorpion sauce which I still haven`t finished) and a craft beer.

already been given before

There are also so-called passing gifts which are left unopened and are passed on to someone else from year to year.

so-called passing gifts which are left unopened

yes, exactly! I do it with all bottles of whisky I get from students and parents on the last day of school in June. I am not able to drink it so I pass it to others for various services.

Talking about presents:

Family members who live in different places but still within a driving distance visit each other to bring and take presents before Christmas.

Polish feel good films that can be played

Letters to M - a romantic comedy from 2011 set on Christmas Eve.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Letters_to_Santa_(film)

The film was positively received by both critics and the general public. It was also appreciated by Duncan Kenworthy, producer of Notting Hill and Love Actually, who said: The movie is fantastic. And as the audience I think it is both funny and poignant. It's made me feel a sudden craving for Christmas..

Later a few sequels were made.

Yes I'm aware of Listy to M, though was under the impression it was shmaltzy and materialistic. Will give it a go tommorow.
We watched Amélie instead, what a perfect, poignant, surreal movie for Christmas. 🥰

materialistic

All cinema films are materialistically commercial coz they are made for profit.
