I like to understand if there is any historical reason not to take a shower everyday.

Historically, the cleanest people in Europe have been Scandinavians and Russians. In these two regions, saunas or banyas were widespread, and regular bathing was a common practice. The plentiful forests in these two places, and easy access to fresh water meant that even the lowliest member of society could afford to clean himself with hot water.

It is curious then, how Poles managed to remain so smelly while living next to the two cleanest people around.

Funny Poles - teach the French how to eat with a fork, but will refuse to wash their ass.

Poles managed to remain so smelly

Reason #7 why I left was that I was one of them. One bathroom for four and no washer and dryer was not a good combination.

Now I have three and a half bathrooms with two showers and a tub for two. Plus a wife that takes no crap from me.

WOW! You resurrected a 15-year-old thread that has been dead for over five years just to say that Poles "refuse to wash their ass".

Your evolution from a cultured, civilised poster towards an Espana-clone is truly amazing. What this board does to people! :D :D :D

Do you own a bidet?

teach the French how to eat with a fork, but will refuse to wash their ass.

That is also historically conditioned. Do you know some French kings had a bath only a few times in their whole lives?? French customs and fashion used to be popular in Poland in the past. Ha!

Do you own a bidet?

Nope, but there are miniature washbasins in all our toilets and I wash my ass in them. Ha!

I have to say, I have not regularly smelled such foul body odours as I have in the buses and Biedronkas of Warsaw. The Polski menel truly is a remarkable creature. Stinks like a ripe yeti soaked in spirytus, still boozing on benches in sub-zero temperatures, he is the street drunk to beat all street drunks - their uruk hai, to Tolkeinise him. Fella could survive a nuclear blast and still amble off to the last standing Zabka for a mocne piwo or malpka.

They have homes, these guys (or most of them?) and presumably running water so I don't understand why they don't just use it more. Does bathing take up valuable drinking time?

Re. General sweat smells, I can only imagine it somehow relates to the regional cultural habit of showering in the evening rather than the morning somehow. If you showered the previous day at 8pm and you're on a bus the following night, that's 24 hours since you last had a wash, as opposed to if you did at 8am far morning. Feels like you would naturally accumulate more sweat in that time, although I know it's generally only really stale sweat that stinks...

Also, we had toilets while the French were sh'ting in all corners of Versailles. Russian till this day sh't in the bushes.
As to your question - czeste mycie skraca zycie.

I have to say,

That was good. I had a really good laugh.

Didn't take any public transportation when last in Poland during the '90's,
however surely it couldn't be any worse than in Rome during the '70's.
Thought I'd keel over from the stench inside a packed bus in the summer
when I was on a teen tour. Apparently, the windows didn't open and Romans
didn't believe in deoderant!

@Lyzko fair enough. I would add that your example was southern Europe in the summer though. Polski menels have had me retching in supermarkets and buses in the middle of February, lol. Those guys stink more than anyone else on Earth. Filthy motherf*ckers.

Once again, this was the '70's and Italy in general was far less affluent than it is today!
However like Poland, Italy was simply dogged by scandal at that time, Craxi and all those guys.

If you showered the previous day at 8pm and you're on a bus the following night,

people don't sweat during the night (typically) so what is your point? I personally like to feel clean while getting to bed, and morning showers don't make sense to me

It is more the strong smell of manure emanating from Washington D.C. that is offensive.

...said a guy who lives in a woke, leftist shlthole that is trying to criminalize pronouns and where a rundown slum house is unaffordable.

Don't forget that the guy in the White House can destroy you economically.

Straight from the Oval Office

That smell is emanating from your "partner's" rear end so keep your face farther away...

the guy in the White House can destroy you economically.

He'll destroy himself first.

He and his regime are destroying their own country right now.

Polski menels have had me retching in supermarkets and buses in the middle of February, lol.

So, why do you live in Poland? Were you too poor to make it in the UK?

@Miloslaw
You've been here much longer than me mate, I should be asking you that. Moved from your sh*t town in the UK to another sh*t one in Poland (wife's sh*t town of origin?) where you could finally have a big house in the middle of nowhere? Did Agata bully you into moving back with her because Jolanta and the girls were telling her "all the Poles are coming home now, UK is feeneeshed"?

Miloslaw is a proud British Pole. He would never step foot in Poland. Hence, his question.

Ah, I thought I sensed the smell of a deeply conflicted individual! Just jealous I'm here in the Jesus of the Nations and he's there plastic-Poling it up in Hellish Country of Only Limited Flavours of Oshii in Every Supermarket

Btw only someone who has never been to Poland / spent long here could ever take issue with my description of the Polish menel, most disgusting human being ever created, shunner of soap and water, drinker of truly awe-inspiring quantities from dawn every day.

He and his regime are destroying their own country right now.

How?

Miloslaw is a proud British Pole. He would never step foot in Poland.

Is this contradiction deliberate?

BTW, why would a Pole be proud?

Prat!

Miloslaw is a proud British Pole. He would never step foot in Poland. Hence, his question.

True, but I have stepped foot in Poland many times and love it! But would never live there.

@WarSore

So you still need to answer my question, why are you living in a country you hate so much with people that you think stink and you hate?

Are you a UK loser?
Bobko  28 | 2668
29 Jun 2025   #206
But would never live there.

Why not?
WarSore

@Miloslaw

Did I say they all stink? Or just menels? Are all Poles menels? (That's a Polish term for the classic street-drinking, jobless loser you get huge numbers of here btw, in case you're so plastic you know less Polish than I do).

Am I a UK loser? Were your parents/ancestors Polish losers because they came to the UK? Are you a loser because you're there in the much-derided Brits' 'masakra rainy country full of litter and murzyns and ciapats'?

Are all the millions of Poles scattered across the world losers?

I have a university degree, own property, have had many pretty well-paid jobs, am a f*cking good cook and, as you can see, can really string a sentence together. I dunno stary, does that sound like a loser to you? What's your definition and what makes you not a loser?

Please try to not respond with simply 'prat!' yet again, btw - it doesn't make you seem awfully clever.

actually menels don't drink a lot - their cirrosis afflicted livers make them get drunk on a mere małpka

No, it was very good. I don't know if it accurately describes reality or is just a poetic license. A fact remains that I had a good laugh reading your post, and that is all that matters to me.

Wow, did you actually catch one and conduct a detailed study that included vivisection? That's really disturbing!
