I think Eastern Poland is the area you look for

Agreed and not just the females, I think it is the most conservative part of Poland.

They're never as good.

Indeed. A gentleman would never wear such a garment. Anyway, it's not just shirts that need ironing. Does he dress entirely in synthetic fabrics? Not to mention bed linen - surely not the dreaded polyester sheets ..........

No, this gentleman wears cotton non-iron only and don't forget non-iron cotton linen are also aveilable.

A gentleman would never wear such a garment.

I have one that I use on business trips if I need a smart one and can't get one ironed on the first night in the hotel. That one was dear. Most are just tacky.

Linen shirts look lovely but are a hassle to iron. Good cotton is fine though.

surely not the dreaded polyester sheets ..........

They have man made fibre blankets in the hotel I stay in in Africa. When you run your hands over them in the dark they light up due to the static.

I suspect that when the OP talks about 'conservative' women, he doesn't mean Tory ladies or jolly hockey sticks and doesn't even mean a traditional person or one who can cook well. He's probably not realised how much sheer time and energy it can take to run a house, bringing coal in and cleaning grates.

That or he feels inadequate because millions of women manager to do that and have a job outside the home (sometimes a physically and mentally demanding one) as well whereas all he can do is be an office monkey from 9-5 and do nothing afterwards.

I would say that as long as the person wearing it likes it a non iron shirt is a great solution and huge time saver.

Bed linen- the same situation, slept in ironed and non ironed and didn't make much difference.

While I do iron my bed linen and I iron the shirts I wear I wouldn't for one second dismiss someone who doesn't.

Any man that would ask me about it in the romantic setting would be out.

While I do iron my bed linen

I tend not to. Either fitted ones or I just fold them and keep them in a cupboard with something heavy on top.

Any man that would ask me about it in the romantic setting would be out.

I used to go out with someone who brought his laundry on the second time he was in my home. Not one to keep.

I feel like the odd one out here. I've never even considered ironing bed linen. I have nice Egyptian cotton fitted sheets. No need to iron and who's going to inspect whether they're ironed or not anyway?

It's a cultural thing in Poland (honestly have No clue why)

People seem to be obsessed over it, growing up in Norway. Very few people iron clothes at all. Mostly just business types who try to look very presentiful to increase chances of making a business deal/attract people influence etc.

Most "normies" don't iron at all in Norway and consider it a waste of time (mostly due to weather/temperature conditions)

In Poland it's more in direction of being uncivilised if you don't iron your clothes

And carefully polished shoes.

I usually wear matt ones that you just wipe down except for special occasions.

Ironed stuff looks smarter, simple as that. A lot o creases and you look like a slob.

When I had a folded bed I never ironed linen but with a bed out full time I started doing that.

I have Egyptian cotton too but I also have top sheets and they look hideous if they're not ironed, full of creases, same for pillow cases. They feel nicer too when ironed. I grew up in a household where the sheets were always ironed. There was something almost ritualistic about it :) I remember watching my grandmother and mother folding the sheets and the lovely smell of the freshly laundered cotton mixed with the steam of the iron.

I remember

Back then, ironing was as important for hygienic reason as today in hotels or hospitals.

For me it was taking the sheets to Magiel. We still had the basket few years back

consider it a waste of time

That's me. I gave up ironing in the 90's.

A lot o creases and you look like a slob.

I think that very much depends on what you wear and the material. More applicable for men who wear shirts. Years ago clothes tended to come out of the washing machine looking like crumpled rags, but these days everything seems to be made more from synthetic rather than natural fibres so doesn't need as much ironing.

I never wear shirts/blouses unless I'm going to an interview and if I see something that looks like it will need ironing I just don't buy it.

top sheets and they look hideous if they're not ironed

OK, I get that. I'm guessing you don't have a duvet then. I've only seen top sheets on beds in hotel rooms these days. I remember my mother ironing those sheets too.

Back then

You mean before the discovery of penicillin? Lol!

I'm guessing you don't have a duvet then.

I do but in the summer I prefer to use a sheet and blankets. I use a flat sheet with the duvet too sometimes.

Yes, that to, but not only that.
