after I got the offer I was reading on multiple forums and I found the polish people are racist to different color people.

nowhere near as racist as Indians.your whole culture is racist, including things like honour killings ,skin colour caste system ect.

certainly i would not like if in public area people don't want to seat near me

Why?! I would fecking love that extra space.

I don't want to face racism comment every day at work or at market place.

So you don't want to come to Poland anymore?

I am Indian and planning to move to Poland and I am worried about racism.

You must be aware that Poland is homogenous country and people of different races are rare here. Hence some people may pay attention to your complexion, but it does not mean there would be any hostility.

There are of course some of the kind of those who posted above, but usually they are loudmouths only in the Internet.

to readers who know nothing about Poland.....there are no connection whatsoever between conservatism, national patriotic movment, Catholic church and racism.

Pull the other one!!

of course, Poles (and all areas East of former West Germany) are racist

If so, why is it that synagogues and refugee centres are attacked mainly in the West? And yet biased pro-Western propagandists rarely say Western Europe is racist.

If so,

Why are you replying to a comment made 10 months ago?
Especially since you know that the poster InPolska has left the forum?

It is a very good thing that Polly has retrieved this comment of InPolska. It clearly shows what a prejudiced person InPolska was on this forum. And I also remember very well Atch and Roz bringing this to the attention of the whole forum.

InPolska used to be very "racist' towards the Polish people as the above quote of hers shows. Being 'racist' herself she very much preferred to blame Polish and other East Europeans for their 'racism'.

Fair enough, it's true she wasn't liked around here and she looked down her nose at everyone.
However, Polly digging up and old comment to fuel his racism/hatred is about as classless as the man is himself

Are you obsessed ;)

I think she really left because she realized real world events were going to be showing that she was wrong about almost everything....

However, Polly digging up and old comment to fuel his racism

stopped reading.

please focus on the thread only

@Veles

Thanks for the information. This is what I was looking for. And from this thread I came to know if Polish people are not racist they have very high esteem. I mean see people fighting over this thread, really stupid.

And yes, I can understand that as polish homogenous, being from a totally different race and religion would not be comfortable for others.
We have racism here in India as well, but mostly with illiterate and old people. people who are educated, has come over it.

Would like to know what is the current situation in Poland. Has it been any major incident ?

What you on about? Someone else refreshed this topic and inPolska's idiotic post was still one of the latest ones.

InPolska has left the forum

Won't stop her from going to hell.

I think arguing with each other may be considered a national sport in Poland :p

And yes, I can understand that as polish homogenous, being from a totally different race and religion would not be comfortable for others.

I am not really sure if religion is a big problem. Many Poles are Roman Catholics (or at least they believe they are), but still there are plenty of people who are not, including myself. I am still alive.

Would like to know what is the current situation in Poland. Has it been any major incident ?

I haven't heard about any recently. There are plenty of people from different parts of the world who study here, or live in general.

You must be like Harry who really takes this forum dead seriously. I didn't know she was off the forum and don't really care. I ran across something about racism and felt the following question should be addressed. So tell us Smurfie Boy...

Why is it that synagogues and refugee centres are attacked mainly in the West? And yet biased pro-Western propagandists rarely say Western Europe is racist.

stick to the topic; this thread is not random chat

Why is it that synagogues and refugee centres are attacked mainly in the West?

Because Poland does not have any refugee centers and only a few synagogues?

Correct, TheOther!

Unlike Germany, certainly France with her long colonial history, the Netherlands with the Dutch Antilles and Surinam, even England, many countries such as Italy, Poland, particularly Scandinavia and other land-locked nations in Europe like Albania, Austria, Switzerland, etc. are still struggling to come to grips with the former's tradition of cultural diversity aka melting pot heterogeneity. For a country such as Poland, we shouldn't forget that until the 90's, the average small-town Pole had rarely if ever any significant contact with identifiable Jews, let along blacks, Muslims, Hispanics, Asians etc..

Until maybe the mid-90's, Poland was a predominantly homogeneous, white, Catholic country with fewer tourists than many of her neighbors and even fewer migrants.

Therefore, to attack Poland/Poles as unrelenting racists, anti-Semites and so forth is not entirely fair:-)

Because Poland does not have any refugee centers and only a few synagogues?

Poland has about eleven refugee centers. In the 90' Poland accepted 86 000 of refugees from Chechnya.
There are about 27 active synagogues in Poland.
You are being obnoxious, as usual when it comes to Poland. If we would be talking about Germany....

even England, many countries such as Italy, Poland, particularly Scandinavia and other land-locked nations in Europe like Albania, Austria, Switzerland, etc

I find your grammar wanting. Neither Poland, Italy, particularly Scandinavia are land-locked. On the other hand it could be that your geography is at fault, as Albania is not land-locked either.

Come on Lzyko, sing for us - don't know much about science books, don't know much about German I took.....
Lyzko 45 | 9,442

You misread it. Switzerland is indeed landlocked, so is Austria:-)

I was under the impression that we are talking about the current refugee crisis.

There are about 27 active synagogues in Poland.

Berlin alone has 13 ( jewish-berlin.com/synagogues.php ), Paris and London a lot more. No wonder they are targeted more often.

You are being obnoxious, as usual when it comes to Poland.

Don't be silly, Iron. Do you really believe that Poland is an innocent little paradise where nothing bad will ever happen? There's only one reason why Poland hasn't seen any attacks on refugee centers: there aren't any of the particular kind that had been popping up in the West lately. If you guys would have centers like the Germans or Swedish, I guarantee you they would be attacked as well.
Ironside 53 | 12,423

How come? Look at the thread topic.

No wonder they are targeted more often.

Thing is synagogues in Poland are not being targeted at all. Where you are getting your info from?

Do you really believe that Poland is an innocent little paradise where nothing bad will ever happen?

Not I don't. I would rather talk about facts that about someone feelings. Like you feel that because in German and France such and such is happening, it must be so in Poland.

There's only one reason why Poland hasn't seen any attacks on refugee centers:

So explain to me why there wasn't any attacks on refugee centers when there was 86 000 refuges from Chechnya? While in Germany BEFORE that recent influx of 'refugees' they have been torching a one refugee center a day. In so progressive and tolerant Germany.

Those are not preconceptions, prejudices or feelings those are facts, go and argue with them if you want...
Listen, there is a significant difference between Poland and Germanic countries. The latter have societies more xenophobic, misogynic than Poland's society, due to their tribal traditions i.e Salic laws and such, that never existed in Poland.

To sum it up: Racists sentiments exist in every society and continent in the world. Still, each European society is racist to the same degree.

Whereas some nations are prone to be naturally more xenophobic, tribal and misogynic due to their history. Its ain't Poland.

Racism, much like bigotry, is not confined to any one country! The most hateful "tree" is the "bigotree"(LOL), and it only yields rotten fruit:-)

Let's therefore not push the problem of anti-Semitism onto the Germans' plate and say, "We're clean!"

The only way Nazi policy could've been enforced in occupied Poland or elsewhere is with the complicit help of the local populace, either out of fear or consent.

The above are FACTS, not opinion!!!

I totally agree.

Xenophobia is unfortunately very common and Poland is no exception.

Like you feel that because in German and France such and such is happening, it must be so in Poland.

Quick search on Google:

nytimes.com/1991/09/14/world/6-polish-youths-attack-a-warsaw-synagogue.html
articles.latimes.com/1997-02-27/news/mn-33021_1_jewish-community

So explain to me why there wasn't any attacks on refugee centers when there was 86 000 refuges from Chechnya?

That's the total number of Chechen refugees that Poland granted asylum between 1991 and 2015! Nothing compared to what's going on in western Europe at the moment. Most Chechens didn't stay long enough to upset the Polish locals and moved on to greener pastures anyway.

Your very riposte, Ironside, indicates that you know I'm right:-)

Anytime someone is listening to another person speak the unpleasant truth, the invariable reaction is "Your imagination is beginning to bore me!"

Well, sometimes the truth is painful, though hardly boring, I assure you!

I've had to take the truth from time to time. Who died and left you so perfect that you are unable to fess up to your own ignorance??!

Sure Wulky, 'cuz what I'm now hearing AIN'T the truth.....not by a long shot!

It's easy to influence maliable and ignorant minds. Those in the know, know they can't be fooled, hence are aware of the difference between value vs. garbage:-)

I don't think poles are necessarily anymore racist than any other group of people. The worst I ever heard was a polish person being racist about his own people, particularly those new to the uk.

I agree, Dreamergirl! Unfortunately, lots of groups often shame their own through ugly and primitive behavior, thus poisoning the whole bunch of apples, both for themselves and the rest of us:-)
