Power of attorney for a court order for exemption from submitting a certificate of to marry Polish citizen

Hi all,

I would like to get some advice on how to get a power of attorney for a court order for exemption from submitting a document of legal capacity to marry a Polish citizen. I am currently in Australia (indian citizen permanent resident) and intend to get married to my fiance who is in Poland. The Australian rules prevent anyone from entering the country so she cant come here. I can leave but will have to spend 3 months outside Australia before returning which is not feasible for me.

I have read that indian citizens require an exemption for submitting the marriage documentation because one certain document (marital status document) isn't accepted in poland. Therefore i would like to provide my fiance with the means using a power of attorney to apply for and recieve this document on my behalf.

Can anyone offer any advice on the matter?

Yes, why not?

There are two possibilites. The first is to visit the Polish Embassy or a Consulate in Australia and talk to a consul who is a notary public.

Another is to go to your local notary`s public office and ask for a document certified with an apostille.

We don't have those in australia, we have justice of the peace stamp but that will not be recognised in australia. He will need to get the document notarised by a approved polish official at the embasy..
