Both parents are Polish (born there and are citizens), came to the US in 70s, never gave up Polish citizenship. I was born in the US. According to the law, this allows me to get confirmation of Polish citizenship.
Last summer, I obtained a certified translation and registered my own birth certificate in Kraków; also obtained new official copies of my parents' birth certificates.
November 2023, I filled out the application for confirmation of citizenship in Polish and submitted it to the Wojewoda's office in Kraków along with my birth certificate, parents' birth certificates, notarized copy of father's recent passport, notarized copy of mother's dowód osobisty (ID booklet), translation and notarization of parents' marriage certificate, copy of my US passport. This was passed on to WSC Warsaw for actual review. Essentially, Kraków claimed they don't have jurisdiction, since even though my family still has an apartment in Kraków, I was never officially registered (zameldowany) as living there.
WSC Warsaw received this in early January, and they helped me enter the info into inPol so I could track the application. They also told me that the processing time required by law is 1-2 months, and that they recently made some changes to actually keep this time (I've heard that times were much longer during COVID and due to Ukrainian crisis). Currently, 2 months later, the application is still stuck in the "Signature assigned" stage.
Has anyone had recent experience as to what processing times are ... it feels like my case is simpler than many cases where people are applying based on grandparents' or great-grandparents' citizenship status, but they may not have even looked at my paperwork yet if there's a queue for processing it.
