Could someone let me know what thr diminutive would be for the fisrt name of "Medard"?

Thank you but I recll his mother, my great grandmother referring to my uncle differently.

Taking a stab at it phonetically I would approximate "Medjew".

If I had that sounded out correctly I was hopiny to learn how to spell his familiar name.
