Is This the Correct Way to Say 'bro, wake up, it's the 90's'?

Greetings, awesome people,

So this is what I could come up with: 'obudzić się, bracie. To lat 90-tych!'. But since my grammar sucks at the moment, I'm quite sure it's a terrible sentence. Thanks in advance for any advice

I'd say:

"Stary, obudź się, to lata 90!"

I think I would go for Kolego ! Certainly not bracie. But maybe Stary :)

@cms neuf, "kolego" would be more like "buddy", imho :)

what about kolesiu? brachu? (genuinely curious this is the kind of stylistic thing I'm bad at...)

"Koleś" would be about someone you don't know, so I'm not sure if that fits? I don't know the context...

brachu?

Yeah, I guess (more among young people though), but I think "stary" is more common, typical (especially if you know the guy).

Kolego is the closest fit to the Anglo / Aussie "mate" which you are right is not quite the same as bro. I think to say bro you need to be room mates or school mates

I would definitely go for stary. Especially since it's the 90's!!!

Thank you so much for the explanation! I'm wondering, when can 'bracie' be used then?

I would definitely go for stary. Especially since it's the 90's!!!

so 'stary' can be used regardless whether the person addressed is 'really' old or not?

You're welcome :)

I'm wondering, when can 'bracie' be used then?

1. When addressing your brother (family).
2. Among military men, especially if they were in combat together.

Yes :)
