USA, Canada / Polish Citizen, US legal resident, but no Polish Passport... [67]

Either your friend had missing paperwork, or something odd. The normal wait time should not exceed around 6 months. Also the passport is sent certified mail. They wouldn't want lost passports floating around the US.

He had to retake his pictures, but he has been told it was delivered over two months ago and they gave him a tracking number for the package. When he calls with the tracking number, he is told the number doesn't exist. Yes, there is something going on; however, trying to get a straight answer has been impossible. He has decided to wait until he has US citizenship and just get a US passport, but it has been a frustrating process to try to help him through.

USA, Canada / Polish Citizen, US legal resident, but no Polish Passport... [67]

Good luck with this! My friend applied for his Polish passport from within the US over two years ago. The latest call to the Polish Consulate resulted in being told the passport had in fact been delivered to his address and if he didn't receive it, he needed to reapply!!!

I also have a green card that is valid until 2012, and will not be applying for US citizenship until then. I live in central FL, not at all close to Chicago, and would like to plan a trip to Europe for this summer.

The Polish Consulate travels to Tampa during the year. Call their office and someone can tell you when they will be there and you can apply (I hope you have better luck than my friend).

USA, Canada / Do many Polish people in America hate Americans? [592]

re you saying that Americans are lazy?

I certainly wouldn't say Americans as a whole are lazy. I own my own business and still work two side jobs to make sure I stay ahead. I decided to not take the route of business loans and instead I am funding the business by working myself like crazy. I will admit I picked up this work ethic from my friend Greg who is Polish. I have watched him work hard and seen him get ahead by working himself to death and making personal sacrifices to earn extra money. I think he respects me for my work ethic and know he would never consider me lazy...

Life / Poles are not racist [873]

What is the topic here? Why Americans claim all that others have done as our own or why we will willingly give up Tom Cruise?

But I'm pretty sure that John Gorrie created the air-conditioning near Apalachicola, Florida! If he didn't, someone made a mistake in creating a museum for him there... I think he actually was trying to create an icebox and came up with air-conditioning... Something we don't need right now!

He's a Podhalan not a Pyrenean............I did know a pyranean once who looked like G, so it's an understandable mistake..

Thanks for the correction Daisy and sorry for mistaking you Grzegorz...

It looks to me like Grzegorz is a Great Pieranese (excuse the spelling if it is incorrect). They happen to be rather magnificent creatures so YES... even Grzegorz!

If not for the Stupid Americans,

Stupid Americans? Why is it that America gets blamed for everything? I know there are a great deal of stupid people in the world, but when discussing Americans the word stupid is included as if that is part of the title. Who are you and where are you from? Oh, Stupid American. Last time I checked, my geographic placement had more to do with where my ancestors moved and not from a choice I made. I choose to be an American at this time in my life because it is where those I love live, but that doesn't make me stupid. Most of the Polish people I know choose to make America where they live because it is a land where anyone willing to work hard can make something of their life.

Racist? My Polish friend Grzegorz told me just after we met that everyone is a bit racist. It took me a while to admit it, but I think he is 100% correct. We all have some racist in us. Admit it or not. That is your decision.

Enough from this "Stupid American."

Food / Mother of all hangovers....Polish Beer! [71]

Can't get Polish beer or most Polish vodka here in Georgia. I used to drink it all the time in Orlando and Chicago, but Georgia doesn't import it and cannot have it shipped here from a distributor... Alas, time for a road trip!
