Language / I want to learn Polish. Where to start? [180]

although I think the pronunciation is probably the most important part to grasp.

thats why I like the computer programs, The one I have lets you speak through
the mic and compares it with a native speakers voice

Well its expensive and by the time you get half way through it you will need
a Eng/Pol dictionary because it gets confusing.

Transparentlanguage is a better deal for the money.

But I`m not saying Rosettastone is a bad program either:)

USA, Canada / Orbits Restauraunt in Chicago? Has it closed? [32]

Red Apple does the job ok as far as buffets go.

The Jolly Inn has a much better buffet than Czerwone Jalbusko bro :)
6501 W. Irving Park Rd.

Sounds good I`ll go anytime, you know how much I like that place:)

Will do! Then I'll go to the place with good pierogis, you're always talking about - Alexandra's :)

I had some pierogis yesterday but nothing compares to Alexandra`s!
My freezer is empty and needs to be re-stocked soon.

Let me know when you want to go:)

no kidding? gonna have to try it.

I went there yesterday everything is good:)
jollyinn.com

could i do better today?

Every resturant I`ve been in they can speak English

so was the area i visited (for orbit) a good neighborhood to check out?

I would say around Milwaukee and Belmont or
Belmont and Central you will find more Polish businesses.

Milwaukee and Central Park has turned mostly Hispanic

Central ave. and Central Pk, two totally different streets

What is is? I need to know.

I think its the work (wank?) but maybe I`m wrong?

It doesnt sound like a bad word to us but in England supposedly its pretty bad?

I`ll test out the theory next time our buddy looney stops by..lol

It's actually a known psychological phenomenon. Swear words do cause some excitement and therefore they are more memorable

That does sound believable Z

Food / Mother of all hangovers....Polish Beer! [71]

Polish or American??

I say in the Polish hood it would be mosty Okocim but Zyweic is popular too.

Anywhere else Miller lite would be the biggest seller, sinse youre used to
good beer youll probably call it American **** like most people that know better.

Food / Mother of all hangovers....Polish Beer! [71]

There are a bunch of popular imported beers in the US that I won't touch after having had them in their home countries. Bass and Heineken stand out in particular.

When I was in Holland the Heineken tasted so good but here in the US I cant
stand it....Horrible!!!

brewed differently for the US market. I forget the reason why

maybe they have to use more preservatives?

really looking forward to meeting up in chi

I`ll have to show you guys my favorite restaurant

I`m curious to know what you think as compared to Poland
