News / Future of Polish-Ukrainian relations [555]

because of a few words on the internet forum

It's not about "a few words". I wouldn't have lasted here for so long, if I gave a f*ck about anybody's "few words".

It's more about the overall picture that emerges from behind the gargantuan wall of those words. It's scary. Seriously scary, Iron, and I'm not easily scared.

See you.

beer and coke

Talking about one-syllable things that were better in the 1980s: pope.

EDIT: church, girls, food. All one-syllable things were better.

I am stronger than you think :)

Tak удачи! :)

Hope family life is joyful and without problems.

It is indeed, thank you.

If you have issues

Everybody has issues, Iron. If someone claims otherwise he's either lying or unaware of them. :)

As for the "latin cvilization western culture"... we certainly still have civilization... probably still Latin to a large extent. I'm afraid that we would have to redefine this "Western" bit though. Remember that Crow (another eerily smart guy at closer scrutiny) used to say that Poland is the real West. Build a wall... we should build a wall asap - on every border. Preserve what we have. Hold out.

Thank you again, for all your kindness during these past years.

You have nothing to thank me for, young Jedi. We learn from each other.

Be careful with this board though - being here is not healthy in the long run.

it only proves that we belong to the culture

The culture that is rapidly deteriorating and under constant attack by the demonic anti-culture. If I weren't a Christian, I'd probably fall into some sort of deep pesimism.

...okay...even better after 1989...

... sure. But then... sometime in 2000s, the entire demonic, woke, neo-marxist angriff started. :-/ Or maybe not started but became more obvious and impudent.

Cars, for example, broke down more often.

Not if you knew how to take care of them. Then they never broke down. Ever heard of Mercedes W123?

The modern West seems to be all about denying the Truth.

You're eerily smart for someone your age, Bobi.

The entire stinking Western culture (or anti-culture rather) is built on lies and denial that such thing as the Truth even exists. We allowed ourselves to be bought for trinkets and it's embarassing as f*ck...

some good memories

Everything was better in 1980s.

Computers, music, movies, cars... everything. Even nostalgia was better.

beating crap out of each other or smoking and drinking cheap booze

You remember it too!

*gets all nostalgic again*

Carpet Beating Racks: 1980s

Trzepak :)

One of the obvious advantages of socialism over the rotten capitalism was the infrastructure that it provided for children. While the kids of imperial dogs had to spend time in some silly Disneyland, ride a boring rollercoaster or hang around a skate park, we could enjoy spending whole days on quality carpet beating racks, inventing a plethora of activities and physical exercises on those magical devices.

trzepak 2 :)

How could some people sing about escaping from Poland to Disneyland...

... is beyond me. :)

Take a deep breath: 2023

Szklarska Poręba, located among mountains and forest, enjoys a unique microclimate which is perfect for people with respiratory system illnesses. The building you see in the picture is a well-known lung disease sanatorium, Izera Centre for Pulmonology and Chemotherapy. I visited my grandma while she was being treated there and was absolutely enchanted with the place.

Didn't he apologise for that?

No, he only said that he regretted the "rodent" comment, but kept his opinion about the invasion.

Do you understand?

I'm trying.

It doesn't mean that I agree with all his views or that I even like him.

Oh, how I wished I was talking nonsense, Alien.

Alas, that's the sad reality. Look at the vomit-inducing, obsequious servilism of consecutive Polish governments towards the USA and tell me we don't act like their vassals.

He apologised for those comments

... but didn't change his stance on either the invasion of Georgia or the occupation of Crimea.

I will also never forget him and will never forgive them

I never knew you were so anti-Georgian, Paulina. Oh, well... But weren't you also a staunch supporter of Ukraine? Navalny supported the occupation of Crimea - how do you reconcile this with "oh our dear Alexei, we shall never forget and never forgive" theatrics?

History / Recommended Poland's history books [175]

@marion kanawha

Check this book out, Marion...

Dmowski - Anglia

... it's an interesting analysis of foreign politics of Great Britain. It shows how the Brits used Poland, Russia and Germany for their own interests and how they managed to pit various nations against each other for British profit. Great book by a man who died before WW2 and didn't see how the Brits skillfully manipulated Poland into becoming the target of Hitler's first Blitzkrieg. Very few books depict British backstabbing duplicity as well as this little gem by Roman Dmowski.

P.S. An example of what Dmowski wrote about can be observed even on this board, where we have a certain British member who accuses Poland of not being prepared for the war, when it was the British government that successfully pressured Poland to stop the general moblisation days before the invasion (which significantly decreased battle readiness of Polish forces).

Oh f*ck, NAVALNY IS DEAD!

People in Georgia won't mourn. He supported the Russian invasion of Georgia in 2008 when he named the Georgian nation as a rodent, and demanded the bombardment of the territory of Georgia with cruise missiles. Navalny had a similar stance on the occupation of Crimea, and now all of a sudden he is some sort of a saint and this half-wit Tusk writes...

"Alexei, we will never forget you. And we will never forgive them"

Sad duty: 1939

1939

Looking at general Tadeusz Kutrzeba's face you can tell that he's not happy. In the photo you see him approaching the commander of German 8th Army, general Johannes Blaskowitz, to discuss the capitulation of Warsaw (which Kutrzeba would sign on 28th September)

We all know the story, no point to sprinkle salt on old wounds; there is however something that escapes many historians and commentators - 1939 was the last year of Polish independence. After the war we were a Soviet satellite for 44 years and then - when the chance for independence finally appeared - venal scoundrels and various foreign agents ensured a rather smooth transition into being an American satellite.

The year 2024 is the 85th consecutive year of Poland being a dependent vassal state. Last time we waited 123 years to regain our independence. Will we have to wait equally long again?

Requiem for an artist: 2024

Janusz Majewski

"Today the pace of my films seems too slow. However, after cuts and speeding up the narration, they would lose their atmosphere. (...) It's also a question of my temperament - I hate being in a rush", said late Janusz Majewski.

The great director, who gave us Zaklęte rewiry, C.K. Dezerterzy (with the unforgettable character of Gefreiter Kania played by Marek Kondrat) or Lekcja martwego języka among many other films, died last month, on 10th January.

Janusz Majewski

One could write a lot about the chevalier of Polonia Restituta and Gloria Artis orders but I think his work speaks the best for him and itself. For me, personally, he was the greatest adapter of literary fiction for screen in the history of Polish cinema.

Requiem aeternam dona ei, Domine...

Why are you being nasty to Gruni, Paw? He's not a psycho but a young patriot, Christian and conservative in his views. Nothing to be frowned upon. You have to learn to respect all honest Polish patriots, even if you don't fully agree with their views... i naucz się tego, bo Cię znowu kosą nauczę. :)

that azholing President

Who can still obstract any serious legal reforms...

and PiS gangsters

... who can be back in power very quickly (this time to stay), if PO hasn't learnt their lessons from those 8 years in opposition.

Let's observe how the events unfold with careful optimism but also with vigilance - PO is well able to f*ck this all up, like they did in the past. Hopefully, they won't. *fingers crossed*

It's obvious that it's about unification process of NRD with rest of Germany.

Tell that to PiS propagandists who will squeeze every little bit out of it.

AFD

SPD must be really desperate (maybe because of some internal, secret opinion polls) and tries to nick some voters from AfD. It's onlyt rather unfortunate that they decided to do it just before elections in Poland. Such a gift for Kaczyński.

I estimate the number of additional votes for PiS at about 2-3% (which might well tip the scales) thank to this. Kaczyński is not exactly known for hugging Germans but I bet he would like to give the author of this poster a long, warm hug.

Well done, SPD, well f*cking done... :-/

Why???

Well, Poland is not exactly in the geopolitically safest spot in the world, so I suppose it's reasonable to keep some of the gold abroad.
