Travel / Open Markets in Poland to buy stuff - where are they? [10]

I'm not sure if there is one in Rzesow but there is a great one close by (15 minute drive) in £ancut. I believe it takes place during the day on weekends. It's somewhere in or around £ancut's old town.. I would suggest asking some of the local businesses to direct you toward the "bazaar".

Genealogy / Socha: Bialobrzegi, Galicia [4]

My Mother was born and raised in Bialobrzegi which a small rural village (now becoming quite 'suburban' in recent years) located just outside of Lancut which is a small city located near Rzeszow in the Podkarpackie voivodship. This area would have been part of Galicia in the 1894-1912 pre-WW1 time frame.

Life / Where do artists like to live in Poland? [21]

Lodz seems to be having an emerging creative scene.

Here's a little overview on a travel website.

as well as some large scale murals (something like Berlin's)
huffingtonpost.com/jaime-rojo-steven-harrington/large-murals-transform-lodz_b_3428241.html

also a Trailer to a documentary about two cities (Detroit and Lodz) and how creative energy is being implemented to reinvent these dying (if not dead) former industrial centers: youtube.com/watch?v=xSpel1mCAlM

I apologize if the trailer to the Documentary isn't very insightful, but I assure you that the documentary as a whole is. The Lodz portion of this film gives insight to what the creative scene is like and shows the many inventive uses of the former hallowed shells of the factories that once housed Lodz's prosperous textile industry (i.e. hotels, restaurant, galleries, artist studios). "After the Factory" currently isn't available (to my knowledge) as it's still in circulation among independent film festivals. I do believe once it's released on DVD it'll definitely be available online somewhere and if not I will upload it to youtube myself once my copy arrives in the mail as a gift for my $35 contribution to the production (via crowd funding). When this happens I'll be sure to post a link on PF if anyone is interested.

Love / Do Polish men date black women?? [69]

Both of my brothers have dated black women. One of them dates Blacks, Asians, and Indians almost exclusively. I personally have only been with Polish women; not that I am against mixing, I find many black women quite attractive. However I am my family's last chance to preserve a long line of pure Polish blood, which tends to be of great importance to a large number of Polish men. In addition, I will be honest in the fact that many Poles are racist and their families aren't accepting of their sons or daughters pursuing relationships with another race. My brother caught hell with the parents (and especially Babcia and Dziadziu) when bringing his black girlfriend to Wigilia (Christmas Eve family feast).
