History / Why Poland is not Russia [192]

I don't see any objective reasons for Poland and Russia to be an enemies at present.

Vladimir Dmitriyevich Bonch-Bruyevich in Polish Boncz-Brujewicz; 28 June [O.S. 16 June] 1873 - 14 July 1955) was a Soviet politician, revolutionary, historian, writer and Old Bolshevik. He was Vladimir Lenin's personal secretary. Vladimir Dmitriyevich Bonch-Bruyevich was born in Moscow to a land surveyor family who came from the Mogilev province and belonged to the nobility of the former Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Bonch-Bruyevich took an active part in nationalization of the banks in preparation of the Soviet government moving to Moscow in March 1918. In 1918 as Managing Director of the Council of the People's Commissars, he endorsed setting in motion the Red Terror.

Mainly Ukraine but other former soviet states too.

One way to solve this problem would be to grant all Ukrainians with German citizenship. I think it would be justfull after what happened in WWII. Many Ukrainians even collaborated or worked in Germany. But when it comes to this Germany quickly forgets, that Ukraine is a Russian "semi-colony"...

Wasn't Ukraine part of the Russian Empire when he was born?

Warsaw was part of R. Empire as well. Does it mean everyone was Russian there?

Andréy Yanuár'yevich Vyshínskiy (Russian: Андре́й Януа́рьевич Выши́нский; Polish: Andrzej Wyszyński) (10 December [O.S. 28 November] 1883 - 22 November 1954) was a Soviet politician, jurist and diplomat. He is known as a state prosecutor of Joseph Stalin's Moscow Trials. Vyshinsky was born in Odessa into a Polish Catholic family.

In 1936, Vyshinsky achieved international infamy as the prosecutor at the Zinoviev-Kamenev trial (this trial had nine other defendants), the first of the Moscow Trials during the Great Purge, lashing its defenseless victims with vituperative rhetoric:[25]

Shoot these rabid dogs. Death to this gang who hide their ferocious teeth, their eagle claws, from the people! Down with that vulture Trotsky, from whose mouth a bloody venom drips, putrefying the great ideals of Marxism! ... Down with these abject animals! Let's put an end once and for all to these miserable hybrids of foxes and pigs, these stinking corpses! Let's exterminate the mad dogs of capitalism, who want to tear to pieces the flower of our new Soviet nation! Let's push the bestial hatred they bear our leaders back down their own throats!

He often punctuated speeches with phrases like "Dogs of the Fascist bourgeoisie", "mad dogs of Trotskyism", "dregs of society", "decayed people", "terrorist thugs and degenerates", and "accursed vermin".[26] This dehumanization aided in what historian Arkady Vaksberg calls "a hitherto unknown type of trial where there was not the slightest need for evidence: what evidence did you need when you were dealing with 'stinking carrion' and 'mad dogs'?

Beria was born in Georgia. Kosior was born in Poland.
Stanisław Kosior was born in 1889 in Węgrów in the Siedlce Governorate of the Russian Empire, in the region of Podlachia, to a Polish family of humble factory workers.

In 2010, the Kyiv, Ukraine Court of Appeal affirmed criminal charges against Kosior with complicity in the Soviet government-engineered famine and genocide known as the Holodomor.

As Russian proverb says: "there wouldn't be a happiness, but misfortune have helped". As the result of German-Soviet pact in 1939 it was Soviet Union that had been sudenly attacked, lost 27 mln of people, liberated Poland in 1945 and saved lives to all the Poles. The heavy, enormose price was paid for a terrible mistake in 1939. USSR lost 600.000 soldiers to liberate Poland. Does modern Russia not deserve to be forgiven?

700.000 Polish citizens

But not all of them were ethnic Poles, were they? Soviets didn't care about the race or ethnicity in slightest, if they were sure you are loyal to comrade Stalin and Soviet rule. Dzerzhinski was an ethnic Pole.

Soviet Union attacked Poland in 1939, then occupied and ethnically cleansed Polish territory

We don't need to confuse ethnic and political cleansings. In difference from the Nazis, Soviets didn't kill Poles just for been Poles. Those were Polish army officers killed in Katyn. It cannot be justified, but still we need to make some difference.

There is numerous communist party in Russia and they oppose distraction of Lenin's monuments. I thought myself it would be good to bury or cremate Lenins body the latest in 2024 (100 years since he died), and give him a rest finally, but for some reason, which I cannot understand communists in Russia oppose it.

It is amazing how contemporary Russians cherish positive feelings about Stalin

My grandmother told me that under Stalin a chocolate candy was almost solid thick chocolate and a table was made of solid real wood. Under Leonid Brezhnev a common, inexpensive chocolote candy had only thin, almost transparent layer of cholote. Due to thefts of chocolate on factories, mostly. And funiture was often made of particule board. In 1950, at the end of Stalins rule, city markets loomed with agricultural products. Despite all the negatives, people affraid to steal products under Stalins rule. Because they new what will happen to them if they will.

In 1934, the non-aggression pact between Poland and Germany eventually followed a successful trade agreement with the latter nation. It also gave Germany the eastern border, and provided more time for Hitler's rearmament.

How could Poles invade a city in which they were a majority???

Russians constitute majority in Estonian Narva. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narva
A "good" pretext for Russia annex entire Estonia.

Or Crimea...

But not an ally like Soviets with Nazis through a formal pact

the German-Polish non-aggression pact, was a non-aggression agreement between Nazi Germany and the Second Polish Republic that was signed on 26 January 1934 in Berlin.[2] Both countries pledged to resolve their problems by bilateral negotiations and to forgo armed conflict for a period of 10 years. The agreement effectively normalised relations between Poland and Germany

You probably mean the conflict with Czechs for Zaolzie region.

On 1 October the Czechoslovak foreign ministry called the Polish ambassador in Prague and told him that Poland could have what it wanted. The Polish Army, commanded by General Władysław Bortnowski, annexed an area of 801.5 km2 with a population of 227,399 people.

The Germans were delighted with the outcome. They were happy to give up a provincial rail centre to Poland. It was indeed a small sacrifice, spread the blame of the partition of Czechoslovakia, made Poland an accomplice in the process and confused the issue as well as political expectations. Poland was accused of being an accomplice of Nazi Germany.

The territory which had belonged to the Polish Lithuanian Commonwealth for at least 400 years.

But not between 1795 and 1918. Majority of population there constituted Ukrainians, Poles didn't create absolute majority even in Lwow. Why would Ukrainians care about Polish sentiments? They proclamed independence and had the govt., flag and hymn. While Poles brutally invaded in 1918.

We are talking about facts, not woulds.

But that is the facts. If Stalin wouldn't occupy Baltic States, Western Ukraine and Western Belarus, then Germans were standing at the gates of Leningrad, Minsk and Kiev just after few days - 1 week after Barbarossa begun. Look on the map at the distance between Estonian border and St-Petersburg, former Polish-USSR border and Minsk, Kiev. Almost certainly Leningrad and Moscow would be doomed.

The Pact made Stalin the most loyal ally of Hitler until 1941.

An ally? That would probably be an exagerration. Basically they had just a non-agression pact and some basic economic relations. What is wrong with that? USSR desperatelly needed some high-tech goods and bought them from Germany... Of course, without Molotov-Ribentrop pact Hitler would occupy Baltic States, Western Ukraine and Belarus. And Poles who lived there would gain nothing from it.

if we remember that the Soviet Union attacked Poland in 1939

If it didn't, then Western Ukraine and Belarus would be occupied by the Nazis.
