Work / Any PAID internships for college students in and or around Poland? [6]

[Moved from]: ANY kind of financial assistance for international students in Poland?

I wonder if there are any scholarships or financial assistance for prospective international students in Poland. I managed to find some information but I doubt it was true and up-to-date.

1) I read that at least 2 types of scholarships are possible: academical (for students who got high grades in the last semester; they can receive a 30-100% of discount, in other words they get back the money they paid 6 months ago) and social (for those students who come from poor countries; they can receive some money to cover living expenses). I don't know though what specific eligibility criteria are. In addition, institutions tend to say very little about available financial assistance.

2) Refugees and ppl seeking protection in the RP have the same rights as Polish citizens. This means they pay much less compared to other foreign students.

Do you know anything about this? If you have any information on scholarships or financial assistance apart from what I wrote please share it. All sources and links are welcomed.

Thanks!

Study / Poland-Germany university transfer? [16]

That would be more expensive and would take more time. BA is fairly enough for the start of my career. But I don't want to get it in Germany studying 3 years in a row because 1) living expenses in Germany are much greater then in Poland; 2) I can't begin my studies right away (have to study 2 years at home before eligible to study in German univ.). So, I thought why don't I study in Poland for the most part, save money, and then move to Germany to get a German diploma at the end? That would be much less expensive and painful. I am not sure however whether that's possible for me as a foreigner or not.

Study / Which language to learn in my university course? Polish Or German? [35]

I agree with Monitor. The best option is to learn only one language at a time. Which one is better for you depends on your goals. If you're planning to stay in Poland, you should probably devote your time to learning Polish. That will pay off in the future when you look for a job on the Polish market. If you are not planning to live in Germany or Austria permanently, then there's no need to spend time learning German. Generally speaking, it's English that is a "universal language" in EU or elsewhere. So, maybe you should consider it as your first priority? It's up to you. But remember no university course is going to make you a fluent speaker of a foreign language whether it's English, Polish, German or something else. There are usually just a mandatory part of your program, so that you should attend the classes and study the material. From my own experience, that's a waste of time and money. If you really want to study hard, then you should do it on your own. There are tons of educational material out there to choose from.

Study / Poland-Germany university transfer? [16]

I am a foreign student willing to study in a Polish university for a bachelor's degree. Since the Republic of Poland is a member of the EU, it shares the common EU educational system. That means that university transfers between European countries are possible, right? Say, I want to study at a bachelor's level in Poland in English language. I study for 2 of the 3 years (3 years is a duration of the univ. program I want to study in), and after that I move to Germany to do the final year exactly in the same program of study and in the same language (English). I technically finish the German university, so I should end up having the German diploma (I hope so!). Is this transfer between universities possible? Will my ECTS points from a Polish university be recognized in a German one? And finally, will I get a German or Polish diploma at the end or both? Thank you for your answers.

Study / Polish graduate to stay in country & find a job? [14]

Ukraine :) Well, most Ukrainian degrees are not considered equal to European ones. Say, MA degree in CS would be considered as BA in Europe. Btw, tuition fees are even higher than in Poland since you also need to give a decent bribe to get your diploma or they won't even consider you as a candidate. Finally, salaries are among the lowest in Europe, and that's in case you manage to find a job which is pretty difficult to do I should say. Education in my country is a business, not a way to start your career. So, I am trying to find better opportunities somewhere else :)

USA, Canada / Should I move to Poland? (dual citizen of Canada and Poland) [22]

Well, I didn't quite understand you... You are living and studying in Poland yet you're going to move there??
Anyway, if I were you, I would definitely go to study to Canada. Since you're a Canadian citizen, tuition fees are going to be quite reasonable, in some cases even equivalent to those in Poland (depends on the province, say in Quebec 2 years of CEGEP for free, 3 years in University for ~5000$ each year or so). Besides, Canadian education is more valuable than Polish and is recognized in all countries around the world. And don't forget about the language; since you speak fluent English, you'll have no problem at all. Additionally, job opportunities in Canada are much grater than in Poland with its youth unemployment. As a Canadian, you have a whole lot of advantages over other ppl (immigrants) who are struggling to get their residence permit.

So, in your situation I would move to Canada to finish high school (it's free for Canadians) & work part time to pay for living. Then, I would graduate from Canadian university and get first work experience in the medical field. If you love Poland so much, you could move there forever after graduating in Canada. You would then be a much competitive candidate as a job seeker.

Good luck with your studies!

Study / Polish graduate to stay in country & find a job? [14]

Folks here on forum say that most English taught programs in Polish universities are not of high-quality. Well, at least they are recognized in EU and I cannot be rejected holding Polish diploma, right? I was planning to major in technical field and get first work experience in Poland right away, and then having some practical knowledge try to apply for a job in GB or Germany. Language is not a problem, but I have no idea what my chances of finding a job in Poland are and what salary I can expect to get with no prior work experience. And btw, are they willing to accept foreigners in the labor market?

I'm totally confused. Is it a good idea to graduate in Poland or I should consider another European country?
Thank you in advance.

Study / Polish graduate to stay in country & find a job? [14]

I can't see the stupidity of my question. In some countries you can stay legally for a while to find a job after you graduated. So, I just wanted to know if Poland is one of those countries, that's all.

Study / Polish graduate to stay in country & find a job? [14]

Hi, guys. I am considering studying in Polish university but I am not sure whether I have any guarantee to settle in Poland after my graduation.

Question: Does graduation from Polish university entitle me to stay in Poland and find a job afterwards?

I don't want to go back home, I want to get some sort of a residence (permanent or temporary) in Republic of Poland and have a permanent job. Is that even possible? BTW, do Polish graduates have any advantages over other immigrants?

Thanks in advance.

Work / Employment prospects of a Computer Science Graduate in Poland [16]

I am from Ukraine, it's quite close to Poland. But despite that, graduating in Polish university does not entitle me to reside in Poland and work, am I right? Unlike of Poland, in Germany I will have 18 month after graduation from German university to find a job in related field. Can I ask you what are my chances of finding a job in EU holding polish diploma for studies made in English? I know they will consider my application in the last turn (first national citizens, then citizens of EU and EEA, and finally foreigners). Or it's not a good idea to spend money in Poland (because graduation in Germany in the same program + cost of living will cost the same) and I better graduate in the county I am going to reside afterwards?

In what field did you graduate? Did you find a job?

Thank you.

Work / Employment prospects of a Computer Science Graduate in Poland [16]

It's sad that people can't find a job in Poland. After all, it's not a big deal where you graduated, career is more important. But what do you think of graduating in Poland and then going to work abroad? Are polish diplomas recognized in the world and in the EU in particular? I wish to study in Poland because tuition fees are quite reasonable (I mean for programs taught in English). What are my chances of finding a job with polish diploma? Thanks for your reply.

Work / Employment prospects of a Computer Science Graduate in Poland [16]

Merged: Graduate Computer Science and work in Poland - good scenario?

Hi. I'm thinking of studying in Wroclaw University of Technology to get BA in Computer Science (3 years, taught in English). After my graduation I am willing to stay in Poland and work until I am eligible to get permanent residency. I'm not form EU/EEA by the way.

Question: what are my chances of finding a job in Poland right after my graduation? I can go to any city, I'll learn the language. But will the employers hire me despite my foreign citizenship and temporary status in Poland? Will there be a position in IT field for a foreigner at all? And what salary I can expect to get if that would be my first work experience?

And what do you think of my scenario? Maybe I better graduate in Poland and then try to find a job somewhere else in EU? Diplomas from my home country are not recognized in the world.

Thank you in advance.
