UK, Ireland / A collection of noimmigration's threads or "STAY AWAY from BRITAIN" [978]

Sorry, I guess it's obvious I disagree with you. I need to chill out, I know..

I gathered that ;)

Although, I'm not talking about all Brits, I am talking about those who whinge that their jobs are being stolen but who wouldn't work anyway. I am aware there are unemployed British folk who would take any job to get themselves started on the career ladder. It's not them I'm talking about at all.

I didn't say Poles work harder, I was talking about the low-paid jobs that previously weren't filled but are now filled due to Polish people. For example, my company advertise some of these low paid jobs and truly, it's not British people who are coming for the interviews...(others may advertise these posts and have many British people for interviews but that is not my experience).

:)

'fraid she seems a bit self loathing to me,doesnt seem to like "her"fellow countrymen but absoloutly adores all Poles....

Because you come out with the same sort of ill informed knee jerk garbage they do,only your targets arnt Eastern Europeans but British people, whats all that about?

Yes, I get what you're getting at. I'm not against my own countrymen but there are certain elements of our society that really make me wonder...if it came across that I dislike all Brits, that was not my intention. :)

orry, it's just that I've heard so much negative talk about a lot of honest and hard wroking craftsmen (And women!) already.

You're right to say your bit, the point is, it's not about the hardworking folk, it's about the slackers :)

I'm doing a bit better now..

Good :)

That's admirable, most companies don't advertise, they just call their agencies (Companies often have contracts with such agencies, which almost automatically excludes local workers from getting hired.) But alright, before I give you a reply I'd like to ask you a question first: Where and how does your company advertise?

No, don't deal in agencies. Never, ever. My company advertises in local papers, online (sometimes) and in the job centre (although we very rarely get anything from them). The post offered will run in all the local papers each week until the post is filled.

So repeat this ritual a hundred times and you'll understand where I'm coming from..

It's disheartening. I can't pretend I've been in your position. All I can do is wish you good luck for the future. You described your visits to the JC well, maybe you should become a narrator :)

But, it's commendable your company puts adverts in the local papers, some people might read the papers and actually get a fair chance!

We find it's the only way that really works. I think we're leaning more towards trying the Internet now. :)

We're cool, and this is for your company!

I hope so :) An award for my company...that's a first :)

Yes,my apologies for being a little OTT back there Polska,...I know,I know, its bad enough when people who have never set foot in Britain say similar things....I just like a little balance.
(again,sorry babes.)

OK, it's in the past :)

You naughty editor you! :)

I truly think one of the problems with this country is that employers/agencies are allowed to do what you write about above. It really throws the equal opportunities thing right out the window and obviously, in cases like you describe, it's local workers who come of worst (Brits).

In fact, I'm not sure they really are "allowed" to do it, but they are getting away with it through some loophole or another!

B - burak - literally 'beetroot', but here = eejit

So how angry would you have to be to call someone a beetroot? :D

Life / Fashion and Style in Poland [174]

I was shopping today (nothing unusual there :) but I wasn't really all that impressed with the so-called "Spring Fashions". Here's an example of what I saw Next[

next.co.uk/shopping/women?LID=01_02_02 (there's a few pages to look through).
Are these similar to what is predicted for fashion in Poland this year or is it different?

Well, actually, with a lot of what I saw today, you're spot on. Gone are the days when they tried to make women look younger ;)

I am probably one of the few females that hates pointy toe shoes. They are f'ugly to me. They look like witch shoes.

I don't like pointy toe shoes either. I have one pair, which look nice with jeans and a top in the summer but I can't wear them if I have to walk any distance because they get hurt. And yeah, the pointy bit makes me think of a witch :)

What do PFers think about Uggs?

They are hard to walk in. I see girls with them on and they're basically walking over the side and back of them. I bought a cheaper version (infact 2 pairs) over the winter and they great and sturdy (but still managed to fall on the ice :)

edit: mines were black :)

yay! I'm not alone! My sister LOVES them. I will never know why.

Actually, my sister has a few pairs too...but she is a witch haha ;)

LOL!! I see that all the time. Apparently, that happens because the skin stretches so much that they end up losing some of their shape. It looks sloppy.

It does look sloppy and can't be good. My cheapo ones don't do that at all. :)

I see people wearing them in the summer all the time. a summer dress, bug-eye sunglasses and Uggs :S

Really? Surely your feet would sweat in them? Mines have furry linings so they would be to hot for sure :)

I love that the knock-offs are better than the $200 pair :)

So do I at £20 for one pair of mine and £25 for another...bargain :D

yeah, can you imagine how nasty they must smell?

Ew! No! But now I'll wonder if I see any girls wearing them this summer...I'll wonder if their feet stink.. :D

UK, Ireland / Polish Festivals/Exhibitions/Events in UK [91]

I'd like to say I was but at the moment it's a no. Which is a shame. If you do go though, give a little report back :)

I think it's £7.50 each per day so it's not over-priced (IMHO).

Sure - I'll do a report... I might even post some photos....

Yep it would be nice to have a fair idea of what it is actually about. Photo's would be a good idea too :)

Aren't there enough native exhibitionists in the UK ? ;)

Lucky then, that they won't have anything to do with this :)

Travel / Stag Parties in Kraków [119]

There will be 16 of us, ages 35-40ish,

It's quite a large group but your age group should favour you. I'd imagine that you won't have much problems unless you plan on being loutish :) It's really the drunken, disorderly "younger" stag parties that they are cracking down on. I imagine if you are planning a meal and then some drinks it will be fine. :)

Hey folks, I know this is a long time off but this is one production in Polish (with English supertitles) that will be taking place at the Edinburgh Festival this year. :)

eif.co.uk/event/kr%C3%B3l-roger.html - Krol Roger

If you live in or around London you may be interested in Kinoteka which is currently underway. :)

i picked up the magazine on the festival a few weeks ago in town at the tourist info centre to flick through on bus after college :)

They're really advertising a lot already, I've noticed this.

i was interested in that one to be honest lmao

Yes, I might book tickets. I'll take a Polish friend because I'll lose track of the supertitles for sure :)

Thanks Tlum for an interesting and informative account, it was lovely to read and to view the pictures :)

I do enjoy these longer posts that have something to say, and the addition of photos helps too.

Yes, I do too. We've had a couple of good reports like this lately :)

Travel / Collection of dress codes in Poland - what to wear? [95]

LC, wear what you'll be comfortable in. The gloves are an option because if you feel overdressed you can remove them. The fascinator, only wear if you'll be happy with it.

I shouldn,t worry too much about looking too different from the Polish women

Neither would I worry about that. As I said, only wear what makes you feel comfortable and are happy with. You'll look great and most important - have fun :)

I have been doing research

You might want to do a bit more research into PolishForums then and realise that for one, if you are posting about Polish in the USA, you wouldn't post it in Polonia - UK & Ireland...

And if you consider this statement

i once heard someone say that the poles are the mexicans of europe

as meaning the whole of America then you need to get your world map out and just check the size of the USA.

UK, Ireland / A collection of noimmigration's threads or "STAY AWAY from BRITAIN" [978]

Well, there is already an entire thread dedicated to Poland's geographical position within Europe so we don't need to turn this thread into one. ;)

Yes, independent jewellers, like most independent retailers carry their stock in their cars and vans in order to transport from wherever they have purchased their stock from. Not everything is delivered to them. Whether or not their insurance covers this I do not know, I would be surprised if it did but there might some loop hole.

noimmigration, as the article clearly states there is no ID to these attackers other than they are "Eastern European" so if you feel strongly enough that they are Polish then perhaps you'd like to go undercover on the streets of Glasgow and prove this point to us once and for all. If not, then accept that the real identity of these thieves is not known.
