USA, Canada / Polish friends, what would be your preferred US state/city to live in? [17]

btw - You can use this website : projects.nytimes.com/census/2010/explorer to check many things about a particular neighborhood or area. You can look up everything from racial composition to the education level or income level.

Artur makes a good point about New England but unfortunately they are not as welcoming to strangers. She won't have that problem in the Mid West.

The people in New England are pretty friendly to strangers, especially since they get thousands of new college students every year. I lived near Boston and there actually was a small Polish community.

But nonetheless, no matter where you go in the U.S, you're bound to find some time of shop that imports Polish/Slavic food. There's always a Russian or Polish or Ukrainian store in almost every bigger city in America.

Either way, I think you can't go wrong with either the Midwest or New England. Look into major metropolitan areas and the suburbs that surround them.

USA, Canada / Polish friends, what would be your preferred US state/city to live in? [17]

It depends on several factors. One of them is how important is it for you to live in a Polish neighborhood. If so, then look at New Jersey.

But disregarding culture, I think something like Wisconsin,Minnesota or New England would be the best place to raise kids and live a peaceful life. New England has the best schools in the country and is probably the safest place too.

But then you have to take into consideration where you are living now. Say you live in Florida, then a move to New England or the Midwest may be too much of a difference, especially to your children. If you live in the south, look at Kentucky or Tennessee or even Texas. ( in most places the community/town will matter way more than the state overall)

Work / What type of career can you find in Poland after completing Business School in the US? [18]

Merged: A Good Career in Poland?

Hello.
I am 18 years old and live in New York. I will be going to college soon and I still have not decided what I want to study.

I definitely want to keep the option of returning to Poland open after I graduate from school.
So, what is a good paying career in Poland that is sure to grow in the future? I want to keep my options open so it would be a career that is good in both the US and Poland. I am interested in Dentistry and engineering, but I also want to know about other careers.

A possible plan for me is to finish school in the US and work for a few years in the U.S to earn extra money and pay off any debts. Then, I would move to Poland before I turn 30.

btw: I can speak Polish fluently and I have Polish citizenship.

News / Characterizing Poland's political parties [33]

Thank you for clearing everything up. I understand that Polish political parties cannot be compared with American, but I was trying to compare the two political systems. It is a better way to explain to other Polish Americans who are not too familiar with Polish politics.

Merged: How do Polish political parties compare to American political parties?

I know that PiS is more conservative, but is it safe to compare it to the American Republican party?
What about PO? Is it like the American Democratic Party?
Where would Ruch Palikota fall into the political spectrum in America?

Thank you.

News / What should Poland do to solve the population crisis? [101]

Merged: Demographic Future of Poland?

How do you see the demographic future of Poland?

According to the CIA Factbook, Poland is 98% Polish with mainly Ukrainian, German, Slovak, and Czech minorities. There are Do you believe this will remain in the future of Poland? I am talking about the next 50 years or so.

If you believe that the demographics will change, and there will be more immigrants ( which is likely) where do you think those immigrants will come from? Will Poland follow the path of Western Europe and attempt to assimilate African, Arab, and Asian immigrants? Or do you think that Poland will import immigrants from poorer and less developed Eastern European nations such as Ukraine, Georgia, Serbia, etc?

Please if someone could offer they're opinion on the demographics of future Poland, that would be very much appreciated.

News / Repopulating Poland with Ukrainians? [67]

Here is an article that does not point out differences by country, but by race. The observations are ( for the most part) consistent with the other article.

We're (The UK Tax payer) is supporting hundreds of thousands of Polish people though benefit handouts and health care. I pray Poland somehow attracts these people back.
There are women in your country who instantly think of Britain once that little blue line appears on their pregnancy test.

Polish people do not benefit from handouts and health care compared to your other problems ( Pakistanis, Africans, Indians.) Poles do not try to change your culture, or institute " Shariah Law." Get rid of the worse problem first. Then, worry about the Poles, who i agree should come back. They are ( in part) causing the population decline.

Not if they are encouraged to "popping out kids like there's no tomorrow". ;)

Alright. Let's put a limit. The maximum amount of children you will receive benefits for is 4.

Travel / KRAKOW, Where to meet young people? (18-22 yrs) [17]

If you are interested in sports, that is a great way to meet new friends. You may not think of the gym as a social place, but you can sign up for group training and meet friends that way.

Ever thought that the literacy rate in a country might correlate with its wealth?
Some people simply dont have access to education, the internet and other amenities we take for granted.

Why don't they have access to education, the internet, and other amenities we take for granted? I mean, Africa has oil, diamonds, gold, iron, cobalt, uranium, copper, bauxite, silver, and petroleum. It is the only continent that has such a vast array of natural resources. Why can't they use these resources to modernize themselves? To build schools and cities?

Anyway the people taking advantage of the system are most likely not to care about their childrens education.
So yes, id take an university professor from Kinshasa over some wiesniakis milking the system anytime.

Where is your credible source of information that you can prove this statement? Of course they will care about their children's education. Why bring the professor here when you can go meet him there? Of course there are exceptions...Once in a while you will find a non white from a 3rd world country that behaves like a normal human being, but if you look at it from a gestalt point of view, you will see that they cause nothing but trouble for UK, France, Holland, USA.

It might be news to you, but illiteracy is not inheritable. ;)

So if it is not inheritable, why are you saying that the poor and uneducated Polish people should not have children? The children can learn and grow up to be who ever they want.

You are dreamer.According to his profile he lives in Germany.Don`t worry, he is playing fool, but he
is not fool enough.

Well I can say I am from Pekin , China. :D. But it would make sense if he was from Germany. Many Western Europeans bash Poland because they are jealous of our homogeneous nation, while they live in what used to be a great and powerful country. Now some areas are cesspools filled with 3rd world low lives.

And you are wondering, why your country is not allowed into the civilized world.

Ultimately i want to live in SEA again, where the weather is better, the people friendlier and close to no racists, other than a few close minded Westerners.

And why shouldnt i like immigration? I am an immigrant myself, live in Little Istanbul and have been treated very decently by the state and other people.[/quote]

Good to hear. I respect you. Instead of ruining a White country, you went to non-white countries.

Of course it would, but illiteracy and unemployment would skyrocket in the next 20. ;)

Hmm. The average IQ of the Polish people is 99. Of course there are some people with higher IQ scores, and some with lower. Now look at this website, which has the average scores of 81 countries. Notice how the top 5 are Eastern Asian countries ( extremely homogeneous) and in the next 25 there are maybe 2 or 3 non white countries. Personally, I have no problem with East Asians. I like their culture, their people. Now take a look at the bottom of the list. What do you see? All AFRICAN, MIDDLE EASTERN, and SOUTH ASIAN countries. That is where the majority of immigration to Poland would come from. So now, Berni23, who will be illiterate? Newborn Polish people, or immigrant Africans?

( No I am not attacking you or being racist. I am giving you statistics, which for sure cannot be argued.)

Here is the website by the way. sq.4mg.com/NationIQ.htm

I want to see countries that are overpopulated to work on reducing their population. It's really sad to see European countries dwindling in size whereas women in developing countries are popping out kids like there's no tomorrow.

European countries are not dwindling in size. Britain and France are vastly overpopulated. But you are right about women who COME from developing countries (i.e Pakistan, India, anywhere in Africa) to European countries, and start popping out kids like there's no tomorrow.

And why exactly diversity is good?Could you give any arguments? And since those Europeans who like diversity in their countries are in minority maybe they will themself ultimately move to the Asian countries?.

Funny how he did not answer this question. Most people pushing for immigration and (racial) diversity have never been anywhere relatively close to Africa or Asia.

I think it would be a good idea but only if the child is genetically European. So non Europeans won't come here breed like roaches and expect money for it.

Thanks for your response. I think if a system like this was implemented for even 10 years, the population will become stable and settle.

Law / what is well-off in Poland [13]

3000-3500 is medium income, although it may be higher in Warsaw. If this is a long term decision, you should think about getting a stable income I.e buy a multi family house in Canada so you can have extra money coming in each month.

Other then that, good luck. Poland is a beautiful country and Warsaw is home to many good sports teams/nightlife is good/ etc etc.

I'm sure we can all write books on how liberals are bad or good, but this thread is about the problem of Poland's population declining.

The British are in danger of becoming a minority in their own country ( by like 2066) A popular idea among British people that I have spoken to is that the government should reward people who have more children. For example if a Polish woman has 3 children, she should receive benefits.

What do you think about this idea?

Alright. Thanks for clearing that up. :)

Remember that diversity isn't just about skin color. Language, hair color, facial features, hair texture, and many other components form diversity.

@legend
Remember that fascism can be left wing also...but no one knows what is going on in a liberal's mind :D.

Thats called diversity.

What are you referring to when you say "that."

Id choose hardworking Asians over fascists blaming others for their shortcomings anytime.

"Fascist" was not mentioned at all in this thread. Are you referring to all Ukrainians as "fascists" ?

I see no problem with Ukrainians and other Slavs. (Hopefully) They will assimilate and learn Polish. Their culture is similar to ours. The problem of a disappearing culture begins when you have immigration from Africa, Middle East, and South Asia. They have a completely different culture, different religion etc.

Life / Opinion about Polish lifestyle: do you like? Strengths and weakness [8]

Ciao.
I am not from Poland either. I was born in Brooklyn, New York, USA. My parents both immigrated to New York in the 90's and I was shortly born after ( 1996.) I have always loved going to Poland for summer vacation and I thank my parents for teaching me Polish before English.

Anyways, from my observations on my trip this year ( summer of 2012) I would have to agree with you on most of your opinion. The biggest difference for me between Poland ( more specifically Bialystok) and NYC is that people in Poland generally are apathetic towards clothing style and brands. In Poland it really does not matter what type of brand of clothing you where or how much your shoes cost while in NYC people even sometimes care about what type of undershirt or underwear you are wearing lol.

I agree with you on them not drinking still water. I drink maybe around 2 liters of still water per day, and my friends and family thought it was weird. There is of course both healthy and not healthy food in Poland, just as in every other culture and country. There is also good and bad music, like in every country.

Are there many Italians that visit/live in Poland? I'm guessing that some of the people who came for the Euros will come back next summer. I am quite fond of Italian culture, actually. I grew up and live in an area that is about 70-80% Italian ( American.) Growing up, I loved going to Italian restaurants and eating all the different types of pizza ( fresh mozzarella and Sicilian squares being my favorite) and Italian bakeries make some of the best cookies I have ever eaten. I hope to one day in the future to make a trip to Italy; from what I hear from my friends, it is beautiful.
