UK, Ireland / Moving to Boston, UK soon and need some advice about renting/finding a cheap flat for us [13]

Merged: Renting a studio in London?

Dear Members,

Sorry for asking this question on a forum dedicated completely to a different country. But, since a lot of Polish (myself being Polish as well) currently live and work in the UK, i need some help.

Where can i find cheap small studio apartments for rent on the outskirts of London? of course transportation to the center of London is very crucial.

If anyone can help on this, it's much and greatly appreciated.

Law / Non-EU international driving licence - driving in Poland and Europe, renting a car [4]

Hello dear members :)

I have a question regarding driving licences.

I only hold a Lebanese driving licence, although i am Polish, i don't hold the Polish driving licence since i do not live there.

I am planning a trip to Poland next year, and drive from there to Wörthersee, Austria.

Does a "International driving licence" based on my Lebanese driving licence allow me to rent a car in Poland or Austria?

Or will i need a European driving licence?

Thank you in advance.

Work / Finding work as an EU citizen (Polish) in another EU country [21]

Hello peterweg, thanks for sharing.

About the criminal record, would that be a criminal record from Lebanon and Poland (EU)? or only Lebanon since i'm a resident there?

Not being availabe for an interview, being out of country, would a big negative I think

I do find that somehow a downside, but as Dominic said, there's Skype. Speaking of which, do Europe employers fancy receiving Resumes that has an included photograph?

Work / Finding work as an EU citizen (Polish) in another EU country [21]

Thanks for the info gregy,

UK isn't in my list of preferred counties anyway.

As for the social help that you mentioned, how is that usually applied to if needed? is there a special office i'll need to apply at considering i'm a Job seeker?

Work / Finding work as an EU citizen (Polish) in another EU country [21]

Hello Gregy,

Thanks for the info,

So, if i stayed for more than 3 months, i will not be asked for the purpose of my stay? The reason i ask, is because i came across articles that speak of such.

Can you please state which countries restrict access to Poles?

Work / Finding work as an EU citizen (Polish) in another EU country [21]

Hello Dominic,

As per your questions,

yes i am a full Polish citizen with a Polish passport.

I'm 26 years old, single.

I hold a Bachelor degree in Banking and Finance from a reputable Lebanese university.

I have experiences as a Bank Teller, Research analysis, Technical support, and Software quality assurance.

I don't have any specific country in mind, whichever i get a good job deal in, i'd consider.

I have family in Poland, Belgium and the UK, but i'd rather not plead help from relatives.

I will in fact try to find a job on recruitment portals and LinkedIn, although, i would like to know if i chose to go to Europe personally and learn a foreign language and search for work, will i be able to get support from the target country's officials? and i repeat, not to be a burden, but for i genuinely have a purpose to find work and start fresh.

I forgot to mention that i speak English very well, and Arabic is my native language. Once i have more time, i'll learn better Polish.

Work / Finding work as an EU citizen (Polish) in another EU country [21]

Dear fellow forum members.

I'm a Polish citizen living in Lebanon, as my father is Lebanese. I've been living here my entire life, and now i'd like to move to Europe and seek a better life.

I'm a university graduate with good work experience and i consider myself talented.

Of course that's not the case, but only to give a clear picture.

I would like to get your thoughts on how to best plan my move...

First of all, i do understand that going to anther European country is easy knowing one is an EU citizen, and stay up to 3 months. My question, after the 3 months, i need to state the purpose of my stay to the officials? of course in my case, it will be to find work.

Second, am i naturally allowed to rent a home in any European country? because i'll be on the hunt for a job.

Third, in case i'm interested to move to a European country "not to be a burden on society and claim benefits", but to really find a new life and work, but i'm not familiar with the language, will the officials give any help? like, allow my stay for more than 3 months, learn the language, and try to find a job?

I would really like to hear your insights or personal experiences.

PS: i consider myself and nice person and can blend in quite well.

Travel / Question about Layover - transfer flights from/to Poland [4]

Dear members,

I have a Polish passport and i'll be traveling to Brussels and meeting up with my relatives then heading to Polish by car for a nice road trip.

My layover options are either in Istanbul or Athens.

my question is, if i chose a layover in Istanbul, will i need to get an arrival Visa, go through customs and such...?

If i chose a layover to Athens, will my Polish Visa allow me just to transit? will that allow me to get out of the Airport and do a little sight seeing?

Most important equation is, will i need to re-check my baggage at the layover airports?

Sorry it will be my first traveling experience and i want to check everything beforehand. I'm searching online, but if this thread can get me exact answers that will be great :)

Seeing Poland for the first time in July!! Yaaay :D

USA, Canada / Immigrating to Canada as a Polish [7]

Dear members,

Thank you for viewing my thread.

I'm currently in the process of receiving my conformation of polish citizenship, and well then apply for a Polish passport.

My mother is Polish, that's how i'll be granted the citizenship, but sadly i know nothing about Poland. I didn't get to learn the language nor know my Polish relatives.

My plan is to benefit from being Polish in order to apply for immigration to Canada. Because, being Lebanese "Arab" is not much of a push, i think.

So my question to you fellow members is, will it be easier to immigrate to Canada as a Polish?

Polonia / Libanese born to a Polish mother - applied for Poland's Citizenship. How To Live There? [5]

Dear reader,

thank you for viewing my thread,

I was born to a Polish mother, and now i'm working on approving my polish citizenship. The polish law office i'm working with assures it's a positive feedback, i'll just have to wait for it.

I'm now 25 years old, but i don't speak the polish language and never been there, i also have no contact with any of my polish relatives.

The purpose of this thread is to ask the following:

1- I'm Lebanese, if i travel to Poland using my Lebanese passport, will i be asked for a VISA?
2- Does only being declared a Polish citizenship give me citizenship rights in Poland?
3- If i decide to move there, will i get help getting employed since i'm a polish citizen?
4- will i get benefits?
5- will my Lebanese Banking and Finance bachelor degree be accepted?
6- Can i rent a house and buy a car?
7- Can my wife (if not of a Polish nationality) get a stay permit?
8- When will i get a PESEL number?

I hope i get answers for these.

Thanks for whoever contributes.

Merged: Does anyone live in Klodzko? I NEED HELP!

Dear members,

thank you for viewing my thread,

I finally was able to locate my grandparents house in Poland, with the help of my mother that was able to remember the address just enough, and in google's street view, we were able to pinpoint it!

Please visit this link if you want to help and you live or have relative in Klodzko:

https://www.google.com.lb/maps/@50.4421017,16.6435323,3a,75y,25.78h,93.35t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sEE3gaYM83QWeFc0zFrC9Vg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656?hl=en

The open balcony on the first floor with laundry is where my mother used to live. I need confirmation if her parents/relatives/spouses still live there. Her family name is Maciejewska.

Can someone help? maybe check the address for me? that would be so great and much much appreciated.

I need confirmation if her parents/relatives/spouses still live there

Sorry i meant "siblings" not "spouses".

Anyone?

Genealogy / Help Needed In Finding Maciejewska Family members. [10]

Genealogy / Help Needed In Finding Maciejewska Family members. [10]

Please ignore the (-) in the title here ==> Macieje-w-ska.....it's one word (the site refuses me adding the word j-e-w-s)

Hello everyone, i've found myself here after i've been searching on the internet for days.

My mother is Polish from "Piaseczno" (or at least that's what was written on her passport) and when she married my dad and moved to Lebanon ( My country ), the contact with her family was lost due to family problems...

i'm now 22 and trying to hopefully find a cousin or an aunt from there.

the info i have are scarce since my mother refuses to give any.

here mother name is "Danota" i'm not sure if that is spelled right.

Father name is "Leshek" ( it's pronounced that way in english, i have no idea how it's written in polish )

she had a sister called "Magdalena" and a brother called "Piotr" (peter)

i don't know if those Info are enough, and finally my mother's name is Elizabeth.

Please those who can help me, post :)
